00:05Time now for Military Monday on 99.5 QYK.
00:10It is Military Monday. We have Christina joining us today talking about her son-in-law, Matthew.
00:15Good morning, Christina. How are you?
00:17Good morning. I'm great.
00:18Well, we're going to talk about your son-in-law. Tell us about Matthew and how he serves our country.
00:24Okay. Well, he's been four years in the Marines.
00:29He's in the reserve right now. He wants to do another four years as well.
00:35So he's not quite done with the Marines. And he's still young, so he's got a long time to go.
00:39And obviously, he's your son-in-law. So for as long as you've known him, he has been a Marine.
00:43Exactly. Yes, for the last four or five years.
00:46And then he didn't want to stop there, so he started on the Polk County Police Force.
00:55Oh, wow.
00:55Yeah. So he's juggling both right now. It's a lot on him, but I'm proud of him. He's doing really good with it.
01:04That's great. I mean, obviously, he has a very big calling to serve.
01:08He does. He does. His dad was in the Navy, and his grandfather was in the submarines.
01:12So he just wanted to keep moving on with the generational thing, joined the Marines, and then wanted to do the police force.
01:21How do you see that service reflected in him?
01:24He's a dedicated, committed person. He's a people person. He's outgoing. He loves to help people, his community. He's just an all-around great guy. I could not ask for better.
01:40All right. So when he's not serving and being selfless, what are some things he likes to do for himself?
01:44So when he is home, he likes to go on date nights, or if he can, because he does have two kids.
01:53His son turns two this weekend, and then he's got a three-month-old daughter. So he just likes to spend time with his family.

02:02Well, Christina, we're so glad you reached out to us today, and we're so glad we were able to honor Matthew, and we're so grateful for his service, not only to our country, but to our community as well.
02:12And it sounds like he is an amazing person, like I said, who has a servant's heart, and we want to do this.
