00:05Time now for Military Monday on 99.5 QYK.
00:10All right, today we get to honor a very special person.
00:13We got Tequila on the phone, and she is honoring her son, Zay.
00:17Good morning, Tequila. How are you?

00:21So we know that Zay serves in the Army, and how long has he been in the Army?
00:25He's been in the Army for two and a half years now.
00:28Two and a half years. And what does he do?
00:30He's a transportation manager, MOA.
00:34All right, nice. And Tequila, you know, I always like to ask a parent this question.
00:38Is this something that you saw in Zay as a young kid?
00:41Has he always wanted to be in the military?
00:43I think he had interest in the military throughout high school because they offered that in high school.
00:52And he also was a team leader for wrestling and got a scholarship in wrestling.
00:57So he just chose to pick the military, you know, to take away the debt of income with college and everything and to get all that he can get and accomplish, you know, in the military while they offer the free benefit along with his service.
01:15Well, it sounds like you've got a very smart son, Tequila.
01:18Now, what was your initial reaction?
01:20Your son comes to you.
01:22We obviously know that's your baby.
01:24And he says, I'm going into the military.
01:25What's your reaction?
01:26I definitely was very shocked and emotional.
01:31That's my only child.
01:33So that even put more of emotions into it.
01:39It really, like, surprised me when the recruiter arrived to my house for me to sign the document.
01:45Oh, wow. I can imagine.
01:46But it definitely was an emotional, you know, happy, bittersweet moment.
01:50I mean, how could it not be for sure, Tequila?
01:53I get that.
01:53Looking back now, obviously, you're honoring him today.
01:56You have to be pretty happy with that decision that he made.
01:59I am definitely an enthused, happy mom.
02:03I always say that's my warrior.
02:05That's my strong, motivated.
02:07He's very motivated, empowered.
02:10He's determined.
02:11He has a big mission that he has accomplished willfully, and he's going to accomplish that to make his life much more empowering and greater for his future and his family that's upcoming.
02:27Well, Tequila, that is a great perspective.
02:29And we are so honored to have Zay in our military and serving and being so driven.
