00:00Tampa Bay's morning crew want to honor and thank those who protect and serve our country.
00:05Time now for Military Monday on 99.5 QYK.
00:11All right, it is Military Monday. We have Kim on the phone with us.
00:13Good morning, Kim. How are you?
00:15Good morning, JR.
00:16So today you get to be a proud mama. We get to honor your son for Military Monday.
00:20Why don't you go ahead and tell us what branch he serves in and what his rank is?
00:24He is currently serving in the Army Airborne, the 11th Airborne in Anchorage, Alaska,
00:29and he is a sergeant.
00:30All right, very nice. And what do you think called him to want to go into the military?
00:35Is this a family thing or is it something that he just kind of wanted to do since he was a kid?
00:40Colton has expressed wanting to be in the military since he was three years old.
00:44And we are very proud of him. When he got graduated from high school,
00:49he went and signed up and agreed to leave within three weeks' time.
00:53So we only got like three weeks to be prepared for him to go away to boot camp at Fort Benning.
00:58But we are very proud of him and his commitment.
01:01It's just his personality. He is someone who always likes to stick up for the underdog.
01:07He loves his country. I mean, it's crazy how much he's always been dedicated to the country.
01:13And he's just, that's all he's ever wanted to do.
01:15And he's never wavered from that commitment.
01:18That's, I got a lot of respect for that.
01:20How many years has he been in the Army?
01:21He went in in 2018 and he's still currently serving.
01:24Where did he go to high school?
01:26Newsom High School in Lithia, Florida.
01:28Newsom High School. Go Wolves!
01:30So when he is not working and not serving our country, what are some things he likes to do?
01:35Well, he just got married. He got married in June of this year.
01:38So he met his forever wife in Alaska where he's currently stationed.
01:43So him and her, they love to go hiking.
01:46And, you know, of course there's a lot of things to do outdoors whenever it's not snowing in Alaska.
01:50But he also loves video games as well.
01:53And let me ask you this. Does mom approve of who her son is married to?
01:58Oh, I love her.
01:59She is definitely the one for him.
02:02And we're proud to have her as an addition to the family.
02:05Well, Kim, you do sound like a proud mom.
02:07And I know you do make a lot of sacrifices as well worrying about your baby.
02:10And we are so thankful for Colton's service and what he's doing for his country and, you know, answering a calling that he felt like he had.
02:17That's just such a big deal.
02:18So we want to do this.
02:19We want to give you a $100 Visa gift card from Stingray Chevrolet for you to pass on to Colton.
02:24Just a small way for us to say thank you and thank you to you as well.
02:27All right. Thank you so much.
02:28We appreciate you.
02:29Well, we appreciate you so much.
