00:00E aí, vamos lá!
00:03Goal start Plessinger!
00:05As teem-mate goes around the outside,
00:07they come together, they go wide!
00:08And they open the door for Justin Barsha!
00:13Cooper Webb almost hit him as well.
00:15Almost took the two top contenders down.
00:19Aaron Plessinger was left shaking his head
00:21and looking and wondering what just happened.
00:24Now the gates have opened wide open
00:27and Justin Barsha leads Ken Roxen.
00:30Man, that was tough.
00:33It looks like Aaron got caught on the inside.
00:35Oh!
00:36Now Barsha goes down!
00:38Looks like he missed the rear brake.
00:40Is that what you must have, right?
00:43I'm just making that for him.
00:44I don't know what happened, but it didn't end well.
00:47And now you look at it.
00:48Now Ken Roxen, the guy that was talking about it,
00:50he raised a start-dependent out front.
00:55Plessinger is scrambling to try and make his way back
00:57through the field as well.
01:00What an opportunity for the 94 of Ken Roxen.
01:03We talked about it at the beginning of the broadcast here this afternoon.
01:07He is banged up.
01:08His shoulder is injured.
01:10He considered not finishing the championship,
01:12but the team himself said we're going to keep going.
01:15We're never going to give up and look at what that opportunity has done.
01:22Great start from Mitchell Harrison as well.
01:25Aboard the 86, that Pantzilla PRMX Kawasaki.
01:30Here is championship contender Chase Sexton making moves.
01:35He is ahead of Cooper Webb and Benny Bloss.
01:38Man, Chase has made a lot of time, if I'm not mistaken.
01:41I thought he was off the racetrack in the beginning part with his teammates.
01:44He was, but he was able to get back on the track really fast.
01:48I watched him do that.
01:49And then Cooper Webb was a couple riders behind him.
01:52So they're kind of making the same passes as they come through the pack here.
02:00I mean, I would think for the number two of Cooper Webb, James,
02:05that it is so important to make the same moves,
02:08get by the guys at the same time as Chase Sexton,
02:11and not let Chase get away.
02:13All right, let's go back and show you what went down at the beginning of the race.
02:18Because what looked like the two KTM teammates heading around turn one first.
02:27Oh, it was McElrath into Plessinger.
02:29Ferrandes was there.
02:30Dean Wilson.
02:31It was a scramble.
02:32Justin Cooper.
02:34It was similar kind of to the 250 main event, James.
02:38You go back that the very, the guy on the very inside,
02:41it was McElrath in this instance.
02:43Yep.
02:44There goes Marsha off the track.
02:46Yeah, definitely missed his rear brake.
02:48But it's, but that start was similar, right?
02:51The inside guy just can't get stopped and everything gets pinched off so quick.
02:56Yeah, and once they're trying to lean into your air and you got another bike on you,
03:00so it's nothing you can do, just gets pulled down.
03:02But look at this guy.
03:04That's what 3.5 seconds looks like.
03:08Back to Joey Savace, just his second race back after missing several races through injury.
03:14The Quad Lock Honda Riders doing great in second ahead of Malcolm Stewart.
03:18And here come the title contenders.
03:20Sexton and Webb running fourth and fifth.
03:23Now, when you go points racing right here, James, this is relatively easy to manage as far as, you know, any potential damages,
03:33as long as you don't go down from a points perspective, just being that close to the rider that you're battling the championship with.
03:40Yeah, absolutely. And if I'm Cooper, I'm probably having a good time at this point.
03:44Right. Just Chase is right in front of him.
03:46Nothing's really happening. Even if he gets around.
03:48You got to do it on the inside.
03:50Now Savace comes back.
03:52Didn't like seeing that happen.
03:54Malcolm's got the spot and he's going to have more company because Sexton is here.
03:58Sexton goes by Savace.
04:00Nice move by Chase, just making it happen.
04:09Roxanne's lead is almost five seconds.
04:11But for how much longer?
04:13What kind of pace has Stewart got aboard that Husqvarna?
04:17And you got to feel that as this race goes on,
04:21those Roxanne's probably going to start coming back to these guys.
04:24So it's not really too much of a panic as Cooper Webb makes his way around Joey Savace.
04:28That shoulder's probably going to start bothering Marcy.
04:31Well, he is. But I was looking at that outside line that Cooper Webb took to get around Joey Savace.
04:37That was the same line that Cole Davies was taking in the main event that we were talking about.
04:41And I wonder if he was able to watch that 250 main event.
04:44So you should have a run down there.
04:47Here we go. Here we go.
04:48Sexton side by side with Malcolm Stewart.
04:51Malcolm doesn't want to give it up just yet.
04:53He won't have a choice in it.
04:55Sexton to second.
04:56These guys are grinding, going to the front.
05:00If you're Chase Sexton, at least if you can't win, you want to be in front of the two.
05:04That's what we talked about at the top.
05:06Oh, nice pass by Coop.
05:08Webb moves up another position.
05:11The championship two are now in the top three.
05:15James, I want to ask you, like, right here.
05:18I mean, what do you do? Keep going?
05:21Or if you're Cooper Webb?
05:23Yep.
05:24I mean, at this point, I would actually probably stay behind him.
05:27You know, see if I can try to pressure on a mistake.
05:29You know, at this point, like I said, I think Cooper, even if the race finishes, he'll be fine with this.
05:34Chase isn't gaining maximum points.
05:36But the likelihood of you getting in front of Chase and being able to pull away, probably not that likely.
05:42So maybe just stay behind him.
05:44You feel good.
05:45Everything looks good.
05:46Hopefully make a mistake and gain some more points.
05:48But that's going to be difficult.
05:49Chase is a tough rider.
05:50He knows how to ride a motorcycle.
05:52But there's no urgency for Cooper to make that pass, R.C.
05:55Last lap around.
05:56Sexton was more than one second faster than race leader Ken Rockson.
06:02Oh, he's got the speed.
06:04And that's one of his attributes that makes Sexton so strong.
06:09Not only the ability, he never gives up.
06:11And he just, man, he's just so quick.
06:16Here we go.
06:17Aaron Plessinger, Dean Wilson.
06:19They were caught up in that first turn incident.
06:23Plessinger, no doubt, would be fuming because he felt he had a chance to win this main event.
06:28He's got a great start.
06:29And there was just that bike-to-bike contact as he tries to go to the inside of Dean Wilson.
06:34He had bike-to-bike contact with Shane McElrath, and that pushed him out.
06:38And they all started to tumble.
06:40Yeah, tough position.
06:41And if you look at the leaders, that lead is starting to already come down between Ken Rockson.
06:45and then Chase Sexton.
06:47So, again, long race to go.
06:53Justin Hill aboard the 46th.
06:54The team tender KTM.
06:56The 14th is Dylan Ferrandes.
06:58Ferrandes is coming off one of his best results of the year as well last weekend in Foxborough.
07:04Meanwhile, lead has been trimmed to 2.6 seconds.
07:08Roxen over Sexton.
07:10Yeah, they're making a ton of time.
07:11Coop was the fastest out of those three this past lap.
07:15He was a 48.0.
07:16Second fastest.
07:17Chase Sexton, 48.3 to 48.7.
07:20Kenny, the third fastest guy.
07:22Man, that's actually getting very trippy.
07:23Yeah.
07:24Then they come out and basically sitting on ice out of there.
07:28So, still 12 minutes left in this race.
07:30This track's going to change so much.
07:31The race is not even close to being over.
07:32Remember what Chase said.
07:33It's like they're going to be doing a lot of laps tonight.
07:34So, this track is going to continue to deteriorate.
07:35It's very, very challenging.
07:36Will.
07:37So, guys, I just want to fill you in on some stuff last week.
07:40At the top of the show, we talked about Cooper Webb, that last lap, and how much time he made
07:44up last week.
07:45And this will just explain how his brain works a little bit.
07:52When I was talking to the team, they said that when he was approaching that last lap, he was
07:58in seventh position.
07:59He knew the leader, Aaron Blessinger, was behind him.
08:01So, he knew that if he got to the white flag, he was in seventh position.
08:06He knew the leader, Aaron Blessinger, was behind him.
08:08So, he knew that if he got to the white flag, he was in seventh position.
08:13And he knew that if he got to the white flag, the worst he could get, the worst position,
08:17would be seventh.
08:18So, at that point, he decided then to save the bike a little bit and go for that last
08:23push in the last lap.
08:24The reason I tell you this is because the team themselves couldn't believe that he was
08:28that structured about his thinking with the conditions that the track can in front of
08:33him.
08:34And they said just a perfect way to explain how intelligent a racer he is and how he just
08:39stalks the way he does right now and knows when to strike.
08:42That's a fascinating story.
08:43Well, his final lap was about a minute faster than Sexton's, who he caught past, then got
08:49past Barsha and then got past Roxton.
08:52It was crazy.
08:53That's how long those laps were taking in the mud in Foxborough.
08:56Now, we have been watching this lead get trimmed and trimmed and now you see first and second
09:02in the same shot, Roxton and Sexton.
09:04Yeah, that's what Will was talking about with Cooper.
09:06That's impressive.
09:07And I always say, especially with me, I mean, we can add five out of four people struggle
09:12with math, but I can add finishing position on the podium over here.
09:16So Cooper was able to add what's going on and just shows how determination he is and how
09:22aware everything.
09:23Oh, Chase messes up in the corner.
09:27He lost the front end.
09:29Mike slips just a little bit, but still doesn't lose that much time to the leader and keeps
09:36a nice gap between himself and Cooper Webb.
09:42This guy's starting to turn down early.
09:44We are halfway through this 450 main event and every lap has been led by Ken Rockson.
09:51Quick reminder to stock up on Monster Energy drinks and Acme markets and a reminder too
09:57that at the end of this main event, when we say goodbye here on NBC, we are far from done.
10:03We'll have a lot of post-race coverage on Peacock.
10:07So if you haven't had enough super motocross this afternoon, stay with us because we'll bring
10:12you a whole lot more in our post-race show on Peacock.
10:16Here's JT.
10:17We're watching Ken Rockson here.
10:18I just wonder how many laps he has in him at full strength here.
10:21Remember, he separated his shoulder right before the Birmingham round and he's been
10:26dealing with the hurt ankle as well.
10:28So all of that leads him to compromise.
10:31He's going to lean on other areas of his body to soak up that effort because he simply
10:36is not at full strength.
10:37And we saw that in Seattle.
10:39He was lifting fast early on in the race, but wasn't able to sustain that pace down the
10:44stretch.
10:45Now he's made it past halfway.
10:46So surely his confidence is increasing with each lap.
10:49And it's going to be something to watch.
10:50Can he keep up this pace for the entire 20 minutes?
10:54The 30 year old born in Germany who recently became a proud naturalized US citizen has been
11:01in control.
11:02And when you're riding with that adversity as Jason just detailed there, it makes it even
11:07more remarkable how well Ken Rockson is doing on that progressive X star Suzuki.
11:12I can tell you as well as Kenny is doing and he's hanging on here.
11:19Chase is able to make the move and Kenny can somehow fight to the end.
11:23This is going to be a huge points day for chase sex and especially this time of the series
11:29when you rarely see stuff like this.
11:32Yeah, that was a good line, wasn't it?
11:338.28 left on the clock plus a lap.
11:38Here comes Sixten.
11:39He's been looming and now he's close to making a move on.
11:43Rockson up the inside.
11:45Yeah, I don't think Kenny's going to fight him too hard.
11:48These guys trained together during the week.
11:50So they're good friends.
11:51Now what Chase needs to do is put in a couple good laps.
11:54Hopefully bring Cooper.
11:55So Cooper doesn't worry about going after you and just focuses on 94.
11:58I'm sure Ken might be a good friend and do his best at trying to hold that number two off.
12:04But you know how Cooper is and how strong he is towards the end of the race.
12:07Chase Sexton is living and standing by his words.
12:11He said pre-race.
12:12I just have to go out there and win.
12:14Simple as that.
12:15And he felt good.
12:16He was in a positive mindset.
12:18Fastest qualifier.
12:19Had the speed.
12:20And he's doing what he said he needed to do.
12:22Started the day 15 points in arrears of Cooper Webb in this championship fight.
12:27That only has four rounds left after today as far as Monster Energy AMA Supercross.
12:33And he would trip that 15 point disadvantage to just 10.
12:39Title stays well and truly alive.
12:41Oh yeah.
12:42We got, uh, when I was watching Sexton earlier today in qualifying practice, James.
12:47And when I talked about how comfortable he looked on the bike, it just, it wasn't like moving around a lot.
12:53And I go back to that incredible wind that he had in Birmingham and just how rock solid not only he was riding, but how well the bike was handling.
13:01I saw a lot of that and how he was riding today.
13:05Yeah.
13:06It's kind of the same conditions, you know, that slippery, but that's a little bit of loose stuff on it.
13:11And we know when Chase is in that spot, when he has that clean air and he's not overriding the motorcycle kind of just letting it work for him.
13:18Him and that KTM is second to none.
13:21Little hiccup there, a little bubble for, for Roxxon.
13:30Oh man, he's putting in some good laps, chases.
13:34And at this point, that's all he can do.
13:36And as I was saying, he just looks like he's not in a rush.
13:40You know, everything's just letting it come to him.
13:42And he looked like that when he was catching Cooper a few weeks ago back in, in Seattle, not in a rush.
13:47It wasn't until he was out front that things changed.
13:49So he's able to ride his own lines and stay clean.
13:53There's nobody on this track that can match that pace.
13:56Ricky right at the top of the show.
13:58You said Chase Sexton brings some of his best results in the last five races of a season.
14:04Well, here we go.
14:05He's leading with less than six minutes to go, plus a lap.
14:08And we're in the last five races of the season.
14:10And matter of fact, 25% of his wins come in the last five races of a season.
14:19That's a heads out riding by Dean Wilson to take a look over.
14:23Because it looked like they were going to come close to each other.
14:26But these lappers, you know, they're incredible riders.
14:30And they know what's at stake.
14:31And they know how important this championship is.
14:33And they don't want to interfere with these guys.
14:38And then Aaron Plessinger, battle for nine.
14:41Did a good job of making his way out.
14:43But it's going to be what could have been tonight.
14:47I'm sure if he, no matter where he finished, he's going to be bummed.
14:50Because he definitely had the speed to win.
14:52Showed that in that heat race.
14:53And you've seen his teammate out front.
14:55Come from the back of the pack to be in the top ten.
14:58Mighty effort.
14:59So, too, Justin Cooper was involved in that turn one incident as well.
15:03Cooper's worked his way up to seventh.
15:05Behind Dylan Frandes, having one of his best showings of the year.
15:08Joey Savace, awesome in the top five.
15:11Yeah, that's a great ride for Joey Savace and that Quad Lock Condit team.
15:16Especially considering that nasty crash that he had back in Indianapolis.
15:21That was a horrific crash.
15:23So, took a couple weeks off.
15:25And he's back out here.
15:26And he got a great start.
15:27Joey's a fantastic rider.
15:29So, kind of not a surprise to see him riding so well.
15:33That's going to be his best result of this 2025 season.
15:36If he can hang in there for four and a half more minutes.
15:38Plus a lap.
15:39Here goes Plessinger on Benny Bloss.
15:42That's for eighth place as he drifts past the Liquamoly Beta rider.
15:51He's got Justin Cooper about a couple seconds in front of him.
15:54So, he can make his way up.
15:56Okay, back up front.
15:58Here's Chase Sexton.
15:593.3 seconds ahead of title rival Cooper Webb.
16:04Yeah, Cooper's not letting him go.
16:06Yeah, he's definitely keeping him honest.
16:09But, uh, Chase is doing a great job being able to navigate his way through the lappers.
16:14Not lose too much time.
16:16And just maintain this gap right here.
16:19Let's take a look at the UFO class moment of the race.
16:26And it's the most important one as far as Chase Sexton is concerned.
16:29The moment he made the move on Ken Rockson.
16:32Yeah, I've got up the inside of him.
16:34And now all he has to do is control it down to the next one.
16:37So, nice move.
16:38Kenny didn't fight him too much.
16:39But at the same time, he didn't really have an option.
16:41Chase was there.
16:42Yeah, he was a beautiful pass.
16:44Had the line, got a good drive out of the corner.
16:51So if he can maintain this lead, he'll pick up his fourth win of the year to add to Anaheim A1 to kick the year off.
16:59And then in Glendale.
17:00And then in Birmingham.
17:02He'll draw level with Cooper Webb with four wins on the season.
17:06And be 12 points behind heading to East Rutherford, New Jersey next weekend.
17:13Part of this historic four consecutive weekends here in the northeast of the United States.
17:24It's never been done before.
17:26He's continued to build on his lead too, James.
17:29And as you know, the further you get out ahead, the easier it is to maintain that lead.
17:34And the less hard you have to ride.
17:37And the risk for falling or something happening goes down.
17:41And he's definitely earned this position.
17:44He's rode an incredible main event.
17:46He's been great all day long.
17:47Mention New Jersey next week.
17:49After that, it's off to Pittsburgh for that fourth consecutive weekend.
17:53Then heading to Denver, Colorado, and the traditional Salt Lake City finale for Monster Energy Supercross.
18:00But remember, it's all 31 rounds of the SMX World Championship.
18:0417 of the Supercross would be done by then.
18:07Then it's on to Pro Motocross.
18:09And then the SMX Playoffs and Championship World Championship finale.
18:17What do you see that you like, James?
18:19I mean, I see Chase looking like he does during the week.
18:23You know, I've had a chance to watch him ride a few times and have some conversations with him.
18:27And I mean, when the guy gets in his zone, he's able to just put the track together.
18:32And I think one thing Chase does really good on his KTM is he gets in a rhythm.
18:37He puts the whole track together instead of, like, putting it in pieces like sections here and there.
18:41He's able to ride the track as one piece, just like if you're watching Formula One.
18:46Those guys set up corners to set up two corners later to get to this one.
18:50And I think Chase does that very well.
18:52And when he's in the mode like he is today, if you notice, he's going from left to right to left to right.
18:58There's no rush.
18:59He's putting his track together and it's very difficult.
19:02And I love what I see.
19:03And it looks like he does every day of the week when I get a chance to watch him ride.
19:07Ricky relaxed.
19:08Is that a word?
19:09Yeah, just relaxed and confident.
19:11And the thing about it is I believe that his competitors know that he is this good and he can do rides like this.
19:19But again, I just go back to what James was saying, how he just never breaks his momentum.
19:24He's putting the whole track together in the bike.
19:27It's a testament to not only how well he's riding, but that bike looks really balanced to me.
19:32It doesn't look like it's, you know, nose heavy or too low in the rear.
19:37And it's just vibing on the track.
19:40He's lapped all the way up to nine.
19:43Naren Plessinger, his teammate, is the last remaining rider on the lead lap.
19:48That's how smooth and fast and efficient it has been.
19:53I think from the mental side, too, that needs to be mentioned, not only for Sexton, is how he's able to keep going.
20:01You know, even though maybe he's not in the points lead, but he's never given up.
20:05I go to the championships that he's won, that he's lost.
20:08He's always there despite how the season is going.
20:12Yeah, you know who that reminds us, our good friend, Chad Reed.
20:16You know, that same attitude, just no matter what happens, the guy's just always going to be there.
20:21And, you know, you think about all the things that's happened.
20:23The chase is easy to be like, go back to Dallas, you know, throwing away to win.
20:27And then a couple weeks ago in Seattle, having to win, being the fastest Cooper Webb's getting him.
20:32But look, this guy's here and he fights.
20:35And every year, every weekend, he's always a threatened win.
20:38And it's just beautiful to watch.
20:41Special little historical nugget, too, for Ken Rockson.
20:46He's going to leave you, Stu, on 75 podiums.
20:49He's going to go to 76.
20:50He's going to leave you and Kevin Windham.
20:52Leak frog ahead.
20:53Checkered flag is out.
20:55Chase Sexton in Philadelphia.
20:57Championship is still alive.
21:02Top two in the championship, finish in the top two.
21:06Webb loses three points in his advantage over Sexton.
21:11Four rounds to go and it is still game on.
21:15Ken Rockson, riding injured, riding wounded, will stand on the podium for the 76th time in his career.
21:22What a legend.
21:23And what a ride.
21:25Sexton is pumped.
21:27Some good.
