00:00:36Seen to simmer back in January
00:00:38in Seattle, it boiled over.
00:00:40You see more contact. You see
00:00:41the altercation. You see a
00:00:42little slap from Hayden
00:00:44Deegan there. Now both sides
00:00:45have said that core heads have
00:00:46prevailed. They won't carry
00:00:48that into Philadelphia, but
00:00:49I'll leave you with this. A
00:00:51truce only holds until the
00:00:53first punch is thrown, and if
00:00:54both of those two take each
00:00:55other out tonight, the rider
00:00:56sitting in third place, Cole
00:00:57Davies, your Seattle winner
00:00:59and his governing body, the
00:01:01AMA, penalized both of those
00:01:02riders, Hayden Deegan and
00:01:03Julian Beaumere, financial
00:01:04fine, and just a few words to
00:01:06say, guys, we love your
00:01:07competitive spirit, but just
00:01:08calm it down a little bit. We
00:01:09don't want any silliness in
00:01:10Philly. No, we don't, but I
00:01:11think those guys are going to
00:01:12race pretty clean, but we're
00:01:13going to get the first
00:01:14opportunity because this race,
00:01:15you know, even though it's
00:01:16short, it's kind of like a
00:01:17main event. All the best of
00:01:18the West is here, and that's
00:01:19ready to watch. And James, if
00:01:20you go back to this race last
00:01:21year when Hayden Deegan had
00:01:22an opportunity to get to
00:01:23rough up Tom Biao, he
00:01:24didn't. He raced him clean.
00:01:25Best of the West division
00:01:26are on the line. They'll
00:01:27race first, then the East
00:01:28races, then we will go to
00:01:29the main event. These East
00:01:30West showdowns are fantastic.
00:01:32Let's do it Philadelphia
00:01:33style. It's a tricky track.
00:01:34There's been a lot of rain,
00:01:35muddy conditions.
00:01:37And a terrific stuff from
00:01:39Julian Bommere on the inside,
00:01:40on the KTM. Cole Davies as
00:01:41well. Fresh from his first
00:01:43career win, the teenager from
00:01:44New Zealand is doing a nice
00:01:46job. Track's going to be
00:01:48night and day difference from
00:01:49what it was earlier today. So
00:01:50these guys get an opportunity
00:01:51to kind of fill this out all
00:01:52the way to go to the main
00:01:53event. The East West showdowns
00:01:54are fantastic. Let's do it
00:01:55Philadelphia style. It's a
00:01:56tricky track. There's been a
00:01:57lot of rain, muddy
00:01:58conditions. And a terrific
00:02:00start from Julian Bommere on
00:02:01the inside on the KTM. Cole
00:02:02Davies as well. Fresh from
00:02:03his first career win. The
00:02:04teenager from New Zealand is
00:02:05doing a nice job. Track's
00:02:06track. You can't really get
00:02:07out of the track. You can't
00:02:08get out of the track. You
00:02:09can't really get out of the
00:02:10track. You can't really get
00:02:11out of the track. You can't
00:02:12fill this out. Although you
00:02:13want to race. Got to let this
00:02:15day play out, Lee. With as
00:02:17much rain as they've gotten in
00:02:18the last day and a half here
00:02:19in Philly, the SMX track crew
00:02:20have done a fabulous job. This
00:02:21is going to be like James said,
00:02:23a great race track. You'll
00:02:24leave America. It's a good
00:02:25run makes a small mistake at
00:02:27the end of the whoops. Yeah,
00:02:28and it's a lot different from
00:02:29earlier earlier was a lot
00:02:31wetter. They only had two
00:02:32opportunities to get on their
00:02:33track, so you might see
00:02:34some mistakes from these guys
00:02:35brought out a lot. Our SMX
00:02:37track crew had his chance to
00:02:38work on it, and now you can
00:02:39see a few little mistakes,
00:02:40but these guys have figured
00:02:41out really quick. Two-time
00:02:43SMX 250 world champion and
00:02:45current points leader. There
00:02:46he is there, Hayden Deegan on
00:02:47the 38. Check out what
00:02:49happened to Hayden earlier
00:02:50today. This was in time
00:02:52qualifying practice and face
00:02:54plants into the mud. Yeah,
00:02:56you look and watch his rear
00:02:57wheel just locks up. Not sure
00:02:59if he hit the rear brake and
00:03:00it caused the bike to stall
00:03:01right there. He was going
00:03:02sideways, most likely going to
00:03:03crash anyways, but I give him a
00:03:0710 on dismount. He had some
00:03:08fun with it. He was laughing.
00:03:09He acknowledged the fans and
00:03:10said, Oh, well, it was
00:03:11towards the end of the
00:03:12session anyway, and it
00:03:13hasn't harmed his race pace.
00:03:14He's right in the mix. It
00:03:15definitely hasn't as you've
00:03:16watched it. He's in a good
00:03:17spot right now. He's got his
00:03:18main competition and Julian
00:03:19on the KTM right in front of
00:03:20him. As you can see, he
00:03:21kind of makes a small
00:03:22mistake, but this race is
00:03:23still early in these tracks
00:03:24is still in the breaking in.
00:03:25He's in a good spot RC. Well,
00:03:26he is. And this is where it's
00:03:27going to be a lot of fun to
00:03:29watch these two great
00:03:31athletes and the battles that
00:03:32they've had all season long
00:03:33and see how they approach
00:03:35this heat race. I know this
00:03:36isn't where they're paying the
00:03:37main events, but do they
00:03:39start any funny business or
00:03:41retaliation from Seattle?
00:03:43We'll see. Well, well to
00:03:44give you a little insight on
00:03:45that Ricky. I got to have a
00:03:47good conversation with Julia
00:03:48Bowman about that subject
00:03:50early on today. And he said
00:03:51look about three days after
00:03:52the race there. I was done
00:03:53with it. He's like, I've
00:03:54realized this is being a
00:03:56distraction. I'm now more
00:03:57focused on that than I am on
00:03:58the racing. So complete
00:04:00focus shift. They also did
00:04:01some work on the bike. So
00:04:02he felt good on the bike too.
00:04:03He said he was trying to get
00:04:04better balance out of it. So
00:04:05all positives for Juju. He's
00:04:07telling himself, no, that's
00:04:08gone. We're moving on. We're
00:04:10moving on. We're going to
00:04:11get better balance out of
00:04:12the bike. So he felt good on
00:04:13the bike too. He said he
00:04:14was trying to get better
00:04:15balance out of it. So all
00:04:16was trying to get better.
00:04:18He was trying to get better
00:04:19than he was trying to get
00:04:20better balance out of it.
00:04:21So we're moving on. We're
00:04:22moving on. Focus inwards.
00:04:24Mike's doing great right now.
00:04:25He's in a good position. So
00:04:26can he hold up? I like that
00:04:28approach, James. I mean, you
00:04:29think about a guy like Kate
00:04:31Deegan who's been in the
00:04:32spotlight ever since he was a
00:04:34very young kid, and I think
00:04:36he feeds off of situations
00:04:37like that where maybe
00:04:38someone like Julian Blair
00:04:40doesn't and it could be a
00:04:42distraction for him like he
00:04:44told Will and I agree with
00:04:45that he's going to say that.
00:04:46I think that's more
00:04:48planning to hate his
00:04:50attitude how he is more than
00:04:51Julian. So right now, Julian
00:04:52is a threat. That's why these
00:04:54guys are having this problem.
00:04:55So right now, he's got to
00:04:56maybe close that inside his
00:04:57hands trying to get up the
00:04:58inside of them. And oh, oh,
00:04:59and my man just has a little
00:05:00hiccup and opens the door.
00:05:01The deacon who gets
00:05:02sideways and he's able to
00:05:03push his way into second
00:05:04place. Now, RC, I don't
00:05:05know. I know they both kind
00:05:06of made a mistake, but you've
00:05:07got to wonder is that part of
00:05:09the history and how things
00:05:10have been going on is Julian
00:05:11goes in and just shows up a
00:05:12little will. He knows he
00:05:13wasn't going to get to him.
00:05:14But that mistake probably
00:05:15came from the past history of
00:05:16maybe going back and forth
00:05:17with Hayden. But nonetheless,
00:05:18Hayden was able to get around
00:05:19him. Now he's going out to
00:05:20his teammate. Yeah, it could
00:05:23have been for sure. But this
00:05:24track is very difficult. A
00:05:25bunch of different technical
00:05:27sections of this track. It's
00:05:29dry in areas, soft in areas,
00:05:31ruddy in areas as well. Hey,
00:05:32we're going a couple of
00:05:33Yamaha's up front and you can
00:05:35take an inside look at Yamaha
00:05:37racing's factory support of
00:05:38teams after every race on
00:05:40Yamaha Motor USA's YouTube
00:05:42channel. And they're a little
00:05:43little bit more than you can
00:05:45get a little bit more than
00:05:46you can get a little bit more
00:05:49channel. And they're a little
00:05:50bubble for Cole Davies. Here
00:05:51comes his teammate. Looks like
00:05:53Cole Davies did the same
00:05:54thing, James. It seems like as
00:05:56they land off that single
00:05:57jump, they missed the run and
00:05:59go to the outside. But huge
00:06:02shout out to the 100 of Cole
00:06:04Davies. This kid in his rookie
00:06:06year has been nothing short of
00:06:08amazing running with the top
00:06:10runners. This guy has a ton of
00:06:12potential. And if you can just
00:06:14imagine watching from the SMX
00:06:16next races last year into how he
00:06:18has progressed, it's unreal. Yeah,
00:06:20it's been unreal. And I believe
00:06:21one of the reasons these guys
00:06:22are struggling in that section
00:06:23is because that's one of the
00:06:25flat areas of the track. So
00:06:26there's no none of the water
00:06:27can run off. So those guys are
00:06:28pushing it back on there. And
00:06:29Hayden's got a good run through
00:06:30the whoops. And now we're
00:06:31coming back on that same
00:06:32position. I like how Hayden's
00:06:33able to turn down a little bit
00:06:35early in that corner. Yeah,
00:06:36quick bobble for them. But
00:06:37Hayden's able to get a little
00:06:38more to the right hand side of
00:06:40that rhythm lane and that sets
00:06:41him up perfectly to make a
00:06:42possible pass at the end of
00:06:43that rhythm lane. Some
00:06:44massive teenage talent up
00:06:45front. The 17 year old Davies
00:06:47leads 19 year old Deegan.
00:06:49Bomaire is third. March
00:06:50Banks, Mosman, Shimoda. They're
00:06:51having a good scrap. Look at
00:06:52that bottom box. Then Jordan
00:06:53Smith that loves and shock are
00:06:55in the top nine. Looks like
00:06:57Joe was able to make the pass
00:06:59up the inside. Yeah, really
00:07:04good. Really good pass right
00:07:05there. And James, as you know,
00:07:06Michael Moseman. You can see
00:07:08that coming. I was going to
00:07:09say a lot of those passes that
00:07:10we're seeing already tonight
00:07:11are set up from the corner
00:07:13before the rhythm lanes like
00:07:14Ryder that is on the inside
00:07:16has the advantage coming into
00:07:18the corner is able to make a
00:07:20good competitive pass. Last
00:07:21time out in Seattle for the
00:07:22one of those passes that we
00:07:23are seeing already tonight are
00:07:24set up from the corner before
00:07:25the rhythm lanes like Ryder
00:07:26that is on the inside has the
00:07:28out in Seattle for the West
00:07:29division on the opening lap.
00:07:31The youngster on the 100 went
00:07:33flying by digging and down goes
00:07:35Mosman. And look at this
00:07:37inside move. Diggins got him
00:07:38and got the lead. Yeah, man,
00:07:40as you were talking, RC, that
00:07:41was all set up from a corner
00:07:43ahead. Hayden was able to
00:07:44jump in over all that mess that
00:07:45those guys can make mistakes
00:07:47which allowed him to get back
00:07:48on the inside. And now he's
00:07:49got a clear track as Cole
00:07:51makes a couple of mistakes. But
00:07:52as I said earlier, Hayden was
00:07:54in a good spot. Everything was
00:07:55right in front of him and now
00:07:57he's up front leading this.
00:08:00Let's check out what happened
00:08:01to Michael Mosman left hand
00:08:02side of your screen. He's
00:08:04going to come out of the
00:08:05corner, get a good drive into
00:08:06the whoops. It looks like his
00:08:07rear end steps a little bit to
00:08:08the right and then goes left.
00:08:10And he's along for the ride
00:08:11there, James. He looks slick
00:08:12to me. Yeah, you go back to
00:08:14what Joe he's probably happy
00:08:15missed that double because he
00:08:16would have been a lot closer.
00:08:17And I think if he was he
00:08:18would have been up in that mess.
00:08:19But hey, Deegan demand an hour
00:08:21right now. Comfortably in front
00:08:23on this final lap to get this
00:08:25East West showdown here in
00:08:27Philadelphia started with the
00:08:28right note. One thing I like
00:08:29about these showdown skies is
00:08:30how these these heat races are
00:08:32basically condensed form of a
00:08:33main event of what we would
00:08:35normally see in the divisional
00:08:37races. So it's a prelude if
00:08:39you will. 250 East Division race
00:08:50coming up at the conclusion of
00:08:51this Hayden Deegan wins over his
00:08:53teammate Cole Davies and Julian
00:08:55Beaumare in the top three.
00:08:59Garrett Marchbanks and his Joe
00:09:01Shimoda as he finishes off his
00:09:03race in the top five. So it's
00:09:05all setting up nicely as we
00:09:08begin this weekend second year in
00:09:10a row here in Philly by the way
00:09:12building more Supercross history.
00:09:14Hunter Yoder. Yeah, Yoder's
00:09:16going to get the job done man.
00:09:18Huge opportunity for Hunter
00:09:20and he's had a really good season
00:09:22thus far. And that looked
00:09:27pretty straightforward for that
00:09:29fluid stylish ride from Hayden
00:09:32Deegan. We'll hear from him
00:09:33when we come back.
00:09:38Deegan.
00:09:42Awesome for the crowd to greet the
00:09:44riders in these difficult
00:09:45conditions.
00:09:48A little earlier this afternoon
00:09:49here inside Lincoln Financial
00:09:50Field. Well, Hayden Deegan may
00:09:51have started the day face first
00:09:52in the mud, but he's having the
00:09:53last laugh now. He's on the
00:09:55podium with Jason Thomas JT.
00:09:56Thank you, Lee. Well, Hayden
00:09:58Deegan got off to a heat race
00:09:59win there and you look back the
00:10:00showdown races. Some of the
00:10:02250 West races reform has been
00:10:03fantastic, but the starts have
00:10:04really held you back. What are
00:10:05you going to do differently
00:10:06tonight to make sure you get
00:10:07out front on that first lap.
00:10:08Locking, you know? Um yeah, I
00:10:09just got to rip a good start.
00:10:10Like I did that here. It wasn't
00:10:11bad right there with Cole. And
00:10:14yeah, made some passes got to
00:10:16the lead. And I was happy to
00:10:18pass this guy. So it's just a
00:10:19good statement for myself. But
00:10:20yeah, good ride. And yeah, we
00:10:21have some fun tonight. Rocking
00:10:22the main. A great way to start.
00:10:25And obviously the road to the
00:10:26SMX Playoffs is well underway after
00:10:2928 regular season Supercross and
00:10:31Motocross events. The SMX Playoffs
00:10:33get underway in September where
00:10:35the best riders in the world
00:10:37compete. The most daring form of
00:10:39motorsport and the sports
00:10:40ultimate prize. Playoff one is
00:10:42at Z-Max Dragway in Charlotte
00:10:44on September 6th. The following
00:10:46weekend is a great way to start.
00:10:48And obviously the road to the
00:10:49SMX Playoffs is well underway.
00:10:50After 28 regular season Supercross
00:10:52and Motocross events, the SMX
00:10:53Playoffs get underway in September
00:10:54where the best riders in the
00:10:55the following weekend is round
00:10:57two in St. Louis at the Dome at
00:11:01America's Center. It's seen so
00:11:03much two-wheel history and the
00:11:04SMX World Championship final is
00:11:06returning to Las Vegas September
00:11:0920. Be there when history
00:11:11happens. The SMX Playoffs coming
00:11:13this fall. It's the third year.
00:11:18Time flies. And the SMX Playoffs
00:11:21and finales these previous two
00:11:22years have been sensational.
00:11:24I mean the format is absolutely
00:11:27incredible coming down to the wire
00:11:29each world championship and a lot
00:11:31of fun. So we've had the 250 West
00:11:34Division race. Now we switch to the
00:11:36East and this is one of seven
00:11:39Pennsylvania riders on display
00:11:41here tonight. Seth Hamaker who has
00:11:45won this year in Indianapolis in the
00:11:47most recent East West showdown and he's
00:11:49in really good form at the moment.
00:11:50He is. And this is the first time
00:11:52he's had the red plate. So coming
00:11:54in here a really strong broad even
00:11:56the last time we went out in that
00:11:57mud. So it should see what he's
00:11:58able to do. And the next guy was
00:12:00able to win last weekend and chance
00:12:02Hymes. See how he's coming off that
00:12:05mud race. We don't got the same
00:12:06conditions but I believe this kid's
00:12:07going to be here to fight today.
00:12:09How big does that win affect his
00:12:10confidence Ricky? Well I think
00:12:11it's massive. Anytime you do
00:12:12anything for the first time and
00:12:13you consider where he was mentally
00:12:14he had basically foregone the
00:12:17the rest of the Supercross season. He
00:12:19comes out wins last weekend in
00:12:20Foxborough. Now he's shed some new
00:12:22light on his championship hopes. All
00:12:27right. You don't want to go to the
00:12:28last chance qualifier. You want to
00:12:30be in the top nine and if you are
00:12:32you'll go straight through to the
00:12:34East West showdown final. This is
00:12:35the East division race. Let's go
00:12:38here in Philly. Watch for who gets
00:12:40a really good jump. It's Vial the
00:12:42co-points leader but sneaking through
00:12:43the inside is the man who is tied
00:12:45with in the points. Seth Hamaker.
00:12:49Seth Hamaker got an awesome first
00:12:51corner. He's able to hug those
00:12:53inside tough blocks. He's able to
00:12:55get by Tom Vial, squeeze him out,
00:12:57use up the track to his advantage.
00:12:59That was a fantastic start by the
00:13:01number 50. He's able to hug those
00:13:03inside tough blocks. He's able to
00:13:05get by Tom Vial, squeeze him out,
00:13:07use up the track to his advantage.
00:13:09He's able to get by the number
00:13:1156 of Seth Hamaker in RC. When you
00:13:14look at the top four, those are
00:13:16your one through four through our
00:13:17point. So in the correct order.
00:13:19So when we wanted to see what's
00:13:20going to happen, I know it's the
00:13:21heat race, but this is what we
00:13:22wanted to see. Well, that's
00:13:23right. And remember, this is
00:13:25like a main event. It's all the
00:13:27top guys from the two 50 East
00:13:29division going for this
00:13:30championship a lot on the line,
00:13:32even in this heat race.
00:13:34Seth Hamaker is so proud to be
00:13:38displaying that red plate, which
00:13:41designates championship leader in
00:13:42this case, co championship
00:13:44leader, because this is home,
00:13:46family, friends, people who have
00:13:48known him since he grew up here.
00:13:50They are here cheering him on.
00:13:52This is a massive afternoon.
00:13:53Well, and he had a great light.
00:13:55Oh, down goes Vial.
00:13:57I think you get he got cross
00:14:00running up maybe jumping that
00:14:01triple in. Yeah, he James.
00:14:03You better pick it up because I
00:14:04think this is where you forget
00:14:05as a rider that this is an
00:14:06East West shootout. So not only
00:14:07it's right at that LCQ, you're
00:14:08going to have guys that you
00:14:09haven't raced all year long or
00:14:10at least only once all year.
00:14:12And yeah, he doesn't look like
00:14:13he's in a rush and he's on that
00:14:14plywood that plywood is very
00:14:16slippery. Let's take a look at
00:14:18the instant 360 replay to see
00:14:21what happened to the champion.
00:14:23Yeah, you can see him here and
00:14:24he starts to fade back over to
00:14:25the left a little bit and you
00:14:26can see that wiggle and he got
00:14:27in there and he just jumped on
00:14:29that tough block actually got
00:14:30off pretty lucky. But right
00:14:31here you can see that bike
00:14:33shoot over to the left and
00:14:34he's on for the ride at this
00:14:35point. You can see him. He's
00:14:36frozen. It's just waiting for
00:14:37whatever happens. Oh, he did.
00:14:39He hit that right side, right
00:14:41shoulder. Pretty hard. He
00:14:43hustling. Like you said, James,
00:14:46probably not anticipating how
00:14:47hard that last chance is going
00:14:48to be. And that was a tough
00:14:50blow to the title contender
00:14:52Tom Vial tied at points with
00:14:53this guy right here. He rode
00:14:54straight off the track and
00:14:55straight up the tunnel. He
00:14:56will see him in the LCQ. That's
00:14:58very clear. Last week, he
00:15:00finished last in the mud in
00:15:02Massachusetts. And this week
00:15:04here in Philly, he's headed to
00:15:05the LCQ. And he's headed to
00:15:07the LCQ. He's headed to the
00:15:08LCQ. That's very clear. Last
00:15:09week, he finished last in the
00:15:10mud in Massachusetts. And this
00:15:11week here in Philly, he's
00:15:12headed to the LCQ. Yeah, the
00:15:14LCQ. And this is a trickle
00:15:15effect because even if he comes
00:15:16out with that LCQ, what is
00:15:17that going to do for the start
00:15:18position? But back on the
00:15:19track, as you can see, R.J.
00:15:22Hampshire number 24 in the
00:15:23Husqvarna and last week's
00:15:24winner, Chance Hymes. They're
00:15:25going at it, but they're about
00:15:28three seconds behind the
00:15:29leader will. That's right.
00:15:30Chance Hymes putting himself
00:15:31in another good position this
00:15:32weekend, James. And Ricky, you
00:15:33talked about it at the top
00:15:34there before the gate drop
00:15:35happened. And the fact that
00:15:36Chance Hymes put himself in
00:15:37another good position this
00:15:38weekend, James. And Ricky, you
00:15:39talked about it at the top
00:15:40drop happened. And the fact
00:15:42that Chance Hymes is now back
00:15:43in the hunt for this
00:15:44championship. Now he had to
00:15:45kind of refocus a little bit
00:15:47or that was his thoughts at
00:15:48least. He spoke to you on
00:15:49title 24 and your podcast
00:15:50there about that. But when I
00:15:51checked in with him today, he
00:15:52said that was short lived. He
00:15:53said he realized that he had
00:15:54to get back to what actually
00:15:55got him there for that win. And
00:15:57that was making sure he didn't
00:15:58look too big picture wasn't
00:15:59focused on the championship.
00:16:01Just focus on the small
00:16:02games and just making
00:16:03improvements and getting those
00:16:04results. It ended up in the
00:16:05winds. It's like why am I
00:16:07going to change that when that
00:16:08has clearly worked. So we
00:16:09kind of a bit of a mental
00:16:11reset for him and here he is
00:16:12with another strong
00:16:13performance. Yeah, that's
00:16:14right. And James, I think
00:16:15sometimes for some riders
00:16:17thinking less and just going
00:16:19out and not worrying about the
00:16:21championship, you're able to
00:16:22put in better rides. Maybe
00:16:24takes the pressure off a bit.
00:16:26Some people like that pressure
00:16:27to each his own in that in
00:16:29that regard. But this guy is
00:16:32is riding really well here
00:16:33tonight. Let's have a look at
00:16:34the bright yellow outfit of
00:16:36Austin Faulkner, the factory
00:16:38triumph rider. That was a
00:16:40good one. It was a good
00:16:41one. It was a good one. It
00:16:42was a good one. It was a good
00:16:43one. It was a good one. It
00:16:44was a good one. It was a good
00:16:48one. It was a good one. It's
00:16:49a good one. It's a good one.
00:16:50Now the factory triumph
00:16:52ride up. That was a massive
00:16:53save that could have been very
00:16:56ugly, James. I don't know if
00:16:57if you're seeing what I'm
00:16:58seeing, but the whoops, they
00:16:59look very, very slick at the
00:17:01beginning. So Moseum and do
00:17:02the same thing. That's how he
00:17:04went down. At the first heat
00:17:05race. Yeah, and those guys
00:17:06what's happening is they're
00:17:07coming out of that corner,
00:17:08trying to build as much speed
00:17:09as they can get going into
00:17:10those words while also
00:17:11shifting and if they don't
00:17:13It's like driving your car in second gear
00:17:15The thing starts spinning
00:17:16The rear end goes side to side
00:17:17And then you're on for the ride
00:17:19That's what we saw happen with Austin
00:17:20Back and forth is Nate Thrasher
00:17:24The Birmingham winner
00:17:25And then his teammate from Monster Energy
00:17:28Star Yamaha, Daxton Benick
00:17:30Then Max Voland
00:17:31And then Cullen Park, fresh from his podium
00:17:34In Foxborough a week ago
00:17:36Just over a minute plus a lap left
00:17:38And Seth Hamaker boasts a 4.5 second lead
00:17:41Seth Hamaker story is just absolutely incredible
00:17:45When you think about where he was
00:17:47And then where he is now
00:17:48Basically restarting his career over
00:17:51Doubling down, going to the dog pound
00:17:55Which is where the Lawrence brothers ride
00:17:56And working with Michael Byrne
00:17:59Off and on the track as a riding coach
00:18:01And just being around
00:18:03Those vibes of the Lawrence brothers
00:18:06Learning from them
00:18:07He has made huge improvements
00:18:09All season long
00:18:09He's a completely different guy
00:18:11And it's so comforting to see
00:18:13And what that journey has been like
00:18:15Very tough to do
00:18:16Well, he's been looking forward
00:18:18For this afternoon
00:18:20And this whole weekend
00:18:21For quite some time
00:18:22Here he is in his own words
00:18:24One for sure
00:18:28That's the one on the schedule
00:18:29That I can't wait to get to
00:18:30And for it to be East-West showdown again
00:18:32And after coming off the win in India
00:18:34At East-West
00:18:34So a lot of family and friends
00:18:36Will be supporting me there
00:18:37And looking forward to
00:18:38Trying to get another one
00:18:39Well, starting in this way
00:18:43He's well on track
00:18:44To getting another one
00:18:45That's for sure
00:18:46And with his title rival
00:18:48And co-points leader
00:18:49On the ground
00:18:50And out the back
00:18:51Tom Vial
00:18:52That they could not have started better
00:18:54For Seth Hamaker
00:18:55Chance Hymas
00:18:56Who has spent the week
00:18:57Ricky, you spoke about
00:18:58Practicing and honing his skills
00:19:02At the Dog Pound
00:19:02With the Lawrence Brothers
00:19:03In Florida
00:19:04He spent the weekend
00:19:05Practicing and training
00:19:06For motocross
00:19:06For the upcoming
00:19:07From motocross season
00:19:08Chance Hymas
00:19:09So no resting
00:19:10After his first career
00:19:12Main event victory
00:19:13He's had a good week
00:19:14These guys rarely have
00:19:16Opportunities to rest
00:19:17Especially during the season
00:19:18Or if you have an injury
00:19:19Right, James?
00:19:20Hey, like, rest?
00:19:21Rest?
00:19:22What are you talking about?
00:19:23Rest in his own
00:19:23The plane flight home
00:19:24He's got a shot here
00:19:30At R.J. Hampshire
00:19:31It almost seems like
00:19:34You've got to be
00:19:34Really aggressive
00:19:35Once you get close
00:19:36As chances
00:19:36You've got to just
00:19:38Make that pass
00:19:39Because if you just
00:19:39Funnel back in
00:19:40The track
00:19:40These guys are doing
00:19:41The same thing
00:19:42Unless you've got to
00:19:42Make a mistake
00:19:43The guy in front of you
00:19:44It's going to be hard
00:19:44To pass
00:19:45It's like driving down
00:19:46The freeway
00:19:47And you're waiting
00:19:47To get into the fast lane
00:19:49If you wait
00:19:49It's over
00:19:50So there's Seth Hamaker
00:19:53Crossing the line
00:19:54Well out in front
00:19:56More than six seconds
00:19:57That's his first heat win
00:19:59Of the year
00:19:59Over Hampshire
00:20:00And Hymas
00:20:01Continuing his momentum
00:20:03Meanwhile
00:20:04A little further back
00:20:05Henry Miller
00:20:07He knows his
00:20:08Number 87
00:20:09On that blue
00:20:11Blue Yamaha
00:20:12Excuse me
00:20:12He's trying to get it
00:20:14And he's lost
00:20:14Too much ground now
00:20:16And Miller is in that
00:20:19All-important
00:20:20Ninth and final
00:20:21Transfer position
00:20:22To go straight
00:20:24To the east-west showdown
00:20:26Main event
00:20:27And he does it
00:20:27Well done
00:20:28There's going to be
00:20:29Some good guys
00:20:30In that LCQ
00:20:31Yes
00:20:31Momentum and confidence
00:20:33Is so important
00:20:34And this guy here
00:20:35Seth Hamaker
00:20:36Has it in abundance
00:20:37At the moment
00:20:38He's winning at home
00:20:40In Pennsylvania
00:20:41We'll see him
00:20:42In the main event
00:20:43Look at that
00:20:44Fist pump
00:20:44It's all headed
00:20:46The right direction
00:20:47You like the sound
00:20:50Of this track
00:20:51It's called
00:20:52She Runs Hot
00:20:52By Ghost Towns
00:20:53And if you scan
00:20:54That QR code there
00:20:55You can check out
00:20:56The new album
00:20:57It's called
00:20:58Almost Home
00:20:59Which is available now
00:21:00We'll hear from Seth
00:21:01When we come back
00:21:02Fans enjoying
00:21:10Supercross back
00:21:12In Philly
00:21:12On a cool afternoon
00:21:16Oh it's not cool
00:21:16It's cold
00:21:17Let's be honest
00:21:18But thankfully
00:21:19It's not raining
00:21:20Knock on wood
00:21:21As we speak right now
00:21:23We can handle the cold
00:21:24If it's not raining
00:21:25And handling it the best
00:21:27Is Seth Hamaker
00:21:27Here he is
00:21:28With JT
00:21:29Well Seth Hamaker
00:21:30Let's go back to Detroit
00:21:32And you can 17th
00:21:33They're dealing with food
00:21:34Poising
00:21:35It really felt like
00:21:35This championship
00:21:36May be over
00:21:36And you contrast that
00:21:38To now
00:21:38You're tied for the points
00:21:39Lead
00:21:40You're at your home race
00:21:41What's your mindset now?
00:21:42Because this feels very
00:21:43Different than it did back then
00:21:44Yeah, definitely different
00:21:46Than Detroit
00:21:46That night
00:21:47It was just
00:21:47Bumming pretty hard
00:21:49And you know
00:21:50You never want to
00:21:51Count yourself out of it
00:21:52But it kind of feels like
00:21:53Sometimes
00:21:53That's the way it is
00:21:54But hey
00:21:55We keep on pushing
00:21:55Got myself back in this
00:21:57Thing
00:21:57We're tied with Tom
00:21:58And back in Philly
00:21:59With my home crowd
00:22:00So super excited
00:22:01I'm ready
00:22:02That was a good heat race
00:22:03For us
00:22:04Good gate pick going in the main
00:22:05And yeah, just ready to
00:22:07Keep doing what we're doing
00:22:08It's working
00:22:08So just put in the consistent
00:22:10Laps and see where we end up
00:22:11At the rest
00:22:12At the night
00:22:12And we're going to be
00:22:14We're going to be

00:22:48For a Rocky Mountain
00:22:49ATV team update
00:22:50And the 30 year old
00:22:52From Oakland, Florida
00:22:53Shane McElrath
00:22:54It took him 59 tries
00:22:56But he finally got
00:22:58On a 450 main event
00:23:00Podium last weekend
00:23:01That was one of the
00:23:03Talking points
00:23:03And the high points
00:23:04Of the Foxborough
00:23:05Massachusetts round
00:23:06Congrats again
00:23:08There were so many people
00:23:09Happy for you Shane
00:23:10Aboard your quad lock
00:23:12Honda
00:23:12Awesome effort
00:23:13And making his return
00:23:15To Monster Energy
00:23:17AMA Supercross
00:23:18Is Dean Wilson
00:23:19Aboard
00:23:19The factory
00:23:20Honda HRC machine
00:23:22Really cool
00:23:23A lot of people
00:23:23Happy to see him back
00:23:24And here he is
00:23:25The two time champion
00:23:27And points leader
00:23:28Cooper Webb
00:23:29At times we thought
00:23:34It was improbable
00:23:35To get third last weekend
00:23:38But he showed us
00:23:38It wasn't impossible
00:23:39An incredible final lap
00:23:41How does he go
00:23:42Here in Philly
00:23:43Webb centre of your screen
00:23:45Really good start
00:23:47On the inside
00:23:48But he doesn't get
00:23:49The whole shot
00:23:50Was that McElrath
00:23:53Who switched it up
00:23:54Really quickly
00:23:55And switched back
00:23:56But it doesn't matter
00:23:57Webb's in the lead
00:23:58Yeah nice move by Cooper
00:23:59He ran in that corner
00:24:00A little bit deep
00:24:01He wanted to be there first
00:24:02And then Shane was able
00:24:03To get around him
00:24:04But lost the rear end
00:24:05And allowed that number two
00:24:06Star racing Yamaha out front
00:24:08Exactly where he wants to be
00:24:09At this heat race
00:24:10This is where I feel like Cooper
00:24:11Webb's worked on RC the last couple
00:24:12Of years
00:24:13Especially this year
00:24:13His opening lap speed
00:24:15It's been a lot better
00:24:15As we're watching Aaron
00:24:17Pleasant your last week's
00:24:18Winter and get around Shane
00:24:19McElrath
00:24:20But I feel like Cooper has been
00:24:21A lot better at this
00:24:21Being able to get a lead
00:24:23In the beginning part
00:24:23Be able to get away and
00:24:24stress it out and I think
00:24:25The last couple of years
00:24:27That hasn't been as strong as
00:24:28Point
00:24:29It hasn't been as strong as
00:24:30Point
00:24:30It hasn't been as strong as
00:24:31Point
00:24:31It hasn't but certainly yes
00:24:32He has worked on that
00:24:33Early race intensity
00:24:34You knew that's where he
00:24:35Needed to be better and work
00:24:36On that having that raw speed
00:24:38That was one of the focus
00:24:39Points and then the whoops
00:24:40Also being fast in the whoops
00:24:41He had said he knew if he
00:24:43Wanted to win this
00:24:43Championship
00:24:44He can't always rely on
00:24:45Jumping up
00:24:45Jumping up
00:24:46Jumping up
00:24:46Jumping up
00:24:47Jumping up
00:24:47Jumping up
00:24:48And he had to be better at
00:24:49Blitzing
00:24:50He made the commitment to do
00:24:51That
00:24:52And the improvements have shown
00:24:53Because of it
00:24:54And as James mentioned
00:24:55Aaron Plessinger
00:24:56Aboard the Red Bull
00:24:57Kawasaki
00:24:58Got his second career main
00:24:59Event victory last weekend
00:25:00In the mud
00:25:01It's like he did in San Diego
00:25:02Just to the thrill of the
00:25:03Crowd
00:25:04Big thing
00:25:05Big thing
00:25:06Big thing
00:25:07Big thing
00:25:08Big thing
00:25:09Big thing
00:25:10Big thing
00:25:11Big thing
00:25:12Big thing
00:25:13Big thing
00:25:14Big thing
00:25:15Big thing
00:25:16Big thing
00:25:17Big thing
00:25:18Big thing
00:25:19Big thing
00:25:20Big thing
00:25:21Big thing
00:25:22Big thing
00:25:23When you work on that
00:25:24Early race intensity
00:25:25James as you know
00:25:26If you can get through
00:25:27The first ten laps
00:25:28It certainly helps
00:25:29Because then the race
00:25:30Kind of levels out
00:25:31And you get a pace
00:25:32That you can maintain
00:25:33For the rest of the race
00:25:34Plessinger
00:25:35Look at this
00:25:36Taking the fight
00:25:37To Cooper Webb
00:25:38On the inside
00:25:39This guy's confidence
00:25:40Is sky high
00:25:41At the moment
00:25:42It doesn't matter
00:25:43That Webb is the
00:25:44Championship leader
00:25:45Plessinger's got the taste
00:25:46Of victory
00:25:47And wants more
00:25:48That was a nice move
00:25:49That started by
00:25:50Him getting a good run
00:25:51Through that whoop section
00:25:52Got through that next rhythm section
00:25:53And Cooper made a small mistake
00:25:54But Aaron Plesser
00:25:56On that KTM
00:25:57The Red Bull KTM
00:25:58Was right there
00:25:59The confidence
00:26:01And self belief
00:26:02Is so important
00:26:03Is so important
00:26:04In this sport
00:26:05And to that point
00:26:06Have a look at this
00:26:07For Aaron Plessinger
00:26:08His first three races
00:26:09Of the season
00:26:10Resulted in ninth
00:26:11And a pair of 22nds
00:26:13His most recent three races
00:26:15Third, third and victory
00:26:17This guy is on a run
00:26:19Will
00:26:21Lee, it's unbelievable
00:26:22Right?
00:26:23You guys talked about the confidence
00:26:24That I asked him earlier tonight
00:26:25I said
00:26:26What did that do for you?
00:26:27He said
00:26:28Well the lead up to it
00:26:29He got four podiums
00:26:30In the last five races
00:26:31That had a lot to do with it
00:26:32But that win
00:26:34The one that he wanted
00:26:35He said
00:26:36It gave him like
00:26:37A sense of calmness
00:26:38Afterwards
00:26:39Like that box was checked
00:26:40Now
00:26:41He was kind of free to go
00:26:42And do his thing
00:26:43So to see the positive attitude
00:26:44That he always had
00:26:45And then add that on top
00:26:46I mean
00:26:47This
00:26:48We shouldn't be surprised
00:26:49Yeah
00:26:50That was
00:26:51Confidence breeds confidence
00:26:52But watching what
00:26:53Aaron Plesser
00:26:54Was able to do
00:26:55Through the whoops
00:26:56He was blitzing
00:26:57Blitz and fixing
00:26:58Then he times it perfectly
00:26:59And triples out
00:27:00And then triples into the
00:27:01Corner
00:27:02You want to talk about
00:27:03Timing and precision
00:27:04In a very difficult spot
00:27:06That was a perfect example
00:27:08Of what to do
00:27:09Yeah absolutely
00:27:10And
00:27:11Although we're
00:27:12We're kind of surprised
00:27:13But I'm actually not
00:27:14Because I would say
00:27:15This
00:27:16This year
00:27:17It's been somewhat
00:27:18Of a disappointment
00:27:19If you're thinking about
00:27:20Aaron Plesser
00:27:21And the way he rides
00:27:22But
00:27:23The last race
00:27:24And the last few races
00:27:25This is what we expect JT
00:27:26Yeah
00:27:27Watch AP
00:27:28Ricky touched on this
00:27:29You're going to see AP
00:27:30Instead of blitzing out of the
00:27:31Loops
00:27:32He's going to set himself up
00:27:33To triple out of the
00:27:34Loops
00:27:35Right here
00:27:36Then he gets the drive to
00:27:37Trip one of the corner
00:27:38That's really important
00:27:39Because if you blitz out
00:27:40You're going to land right in
00:27:41The face and not be able to
00:27:42Drive through that next trip
00:27:43Wall
00:27:44So it seems very subtle
00:27:45But that is a lot of time
00:27:46He's saving there guys
00:27:47Yeah absolutely
00:27:48A lot of time and energy as
00:27:49Well and one benefactor of that
00:27:52Is Cooper Webb
00:27:53Been able to stay close enough
00:27:54And you know he's sitting there
00:27:55Paying attention
00:27:56I wouldn't be surprised if he
00:27:57Gave
00:27:58Able to pick that up RC
00:27:59For feet
00:28:00Yeah well this is what the
00:28:01Benefit of being behind
00:28:02Someone you can see where
00:28:03They're making the moves and
00:28:04What they're doing different
00:28:05That helps you because you're
00:28:06Able to make that mid race
00:28:07Adjustment blitzing the whoops
00:28:08For those of you who don't
00:28:09Watch a lot of monster and
00:28:10G supercrosses when they're
00:28:11Able to ride on top of them
00:28:12Like skipping across the top
00:28:13Yeah they ever so slightly
00:28:14Hit the front wheel
00:28:15In the back wheel
00:28:16Front wheel
00:28:17And then back wheel
00:28:18And then back wheel
00:28:19And then some guys
00:28:20Elect to jump through them
00:28:21Like Cooper Webb is doing
00:28:22Right now a lot of times
00:28:23It's faster to blitz
00:28:24So there you go
00:28:25Third place
00:28:26Is Malcolm Stewart
00:28:28Had a really good heat
00:28:29So there you go
00:28:30Third place
00:28:31Is Malcolm Stewart
00:28:33Had a really good heat
00:28:35Had a really good heat run
00:28:38Last weekend in the mud
00:28:39In Foxborough
00:28:40And then didn't quite have
00:28:42The same fortune
00:28:43In the main event
00:28:44Where is the rockstar
00:28:45Energy factory
00:28:46Husqvarna rider
00:28:47There he is
00:28:48He's a
00:28:49Quite a handful of seconds
00:28:50Behind Cooper Webb
00:28:51But running in a solid
00:28:52Third
00:28:53James earlier today
00:28:55You said
00:28:56I think I like the look
00:28:57Of this track
00:28:58For my little brother
00:28:59How so?
00:29:00Yeah I think just the way
00:29:01He rods him
00:29:02The way his bike set up
00:29:03If we go back a few weeks
00:29:04In Tampa
00:29:05On the track
00:29:06Kind of broke down
00:29:07It got really slippery
00:29:08And I think the way
00:29:09Malcolm rides
00:29:10He's very heavy
00:29:11On the motorcycle
00:29:12And what I mean by that
00:29:13One he's a big boy
00:29:14But he puts a lot of weight
00:29:15Which pushes the bike
00:29:16Down in the ground
00:29:17And so as the track
00:29:18Gets slippery
00:29:19And you start seeing
00:29:20Some of those shiny parts
00:29:21I think him being bigger
00:29:22And the way he rides a
00:29:23Motorcycle is going to
00:29:24Benefit him
00:29:25And the track's going to
00:29:26Continue to get
00:29:27Slipperier and rougher
00:29:28Which is going to bring
00:29:29Down the pace
00:29:30And I think that 27 on
00:29:31Husqvarna is going to be
00:29:32The very popular Scottish rider
00:29:34Dean Wilson is back
00:29:35As we said before
00:29:36The gate dropped
00:29:37He's riding aboard the factory
00:29:38Honda spoke to Lars Lindstrom
00:29:39The team manager earlier
00:29:41And he said look
00:29:42We wanted somebody out there
00:29:43On the bike
00:29:44With Jet and Hunter Lawrence
00:29:45Out injured
00:29:46But we're hearing great things
00:29:47About their recovery
00:29:48And return to racing
00:29:49As Dylan Ferrandes
00:29:50Is working on Wilson
00:29:51And we'll get Wilson
00:29:53Tucks up the inside there
00:29:55He said look
00:29:56We're not putting any pressure
00:29:57On Dino
00:29:58We want him out there
00:29:59To help ride the bike
00:30:00Represent the brand
00:30:01But also to test things
00:30:03In race mode
00:30:04And he said
00:30:05So long as he's in that
00:30:06Top 10 range
00:30:07Top 15
00:30:08Anywhere around there
00:30:09We'll be pleased
00:30:10And he said by the way
00:30:11For Dean having such a good
00:30:13Sense of humour
00:30:14He said he is taking this
00:30:16Extremely seriously
00:30:17It means a great
00:30:18Opportunity
00:30:19If not
00:30:20Grandpa Earl's
00:30:21Going to get that ride
00:30:22Nonetheless
00:30:23But you know
00:30:24It's really hard
00:30:25For any rider
00:30:26Especially
00:30:27You think about Dean
00:30:28Wilson coming in
00:30:29And filling the shoes
00:30:30Of Jet Lawrence
00:30:31And Hunter Lawrence
00:30:32On that factory HRC
00:30:33Honda
00:30:34To come back into the
00:30:35Middle of the season
00:30:36It's very hard
00:30:37And for him
00:30:38He's doing a great job
00:30:39Running sixth place
00:30:40In his heat race
00:30:41Man at hours right here
00:30:42There we go
00:30:43Heat
00:30:44Victory
00:30:45For Aaron Plessinger
00:30:47Ahead of Cooper Webb
00:30:48These Honda guys
00:30:49Are fighting it out
00:30:50Right to the very end
00:30:51They're ahead of
00:30:53Mitchell Harrison
00:30:54And Christian Craig
00:30:55Christian is in that
00:30:56Ninth and final
00:30:57Transfer position
00:30:58Malcolm Stewart
00:30:59And Shane McElrath
00:31:00Have already crossed the line
00:31:06Well done
00:31:07Welcome back
00:31:08Dean Wilson
00:31:09Good first ride
00:31:10Massively impressive
00:31:11To go straight
00:31:12To the main event
00:31:13Incredible ride
00:31:14Like James was talking
00:31:15About hard to do
00:31:16Another guy
00:31:17That's been out
00:31:18With an injury
00:31:19Christian Craig
00:31:2028 transferring
00:31:21Directly
00:31:24He can breathe a sigh
00:31:25Of relief
00:31:26As he's looking around
00:31:27He knows that
00:31:28A winner last week
00:31:30And a winner
00:31:31This week
00:31:32Aaron Plessinger
00:31:33Well done
00:31:34And that move
00:31:35On Cooper Webb
00:31:36Was with authority
00:31:37He held on to the lead
00:31:38We'll hear from him
00:31:39When we come back
00:31:46Supercross
00:31:47In Philadelphia
00:31:48We're having a fun
00:31:49Afternoon
00:31:50Even if it's chilly
00:31:51And this writer's state
00:31:53Is brought to you by
00:31:54Monster Energy Supercross
00:31:5525
00:31:56The official
00:31:57Video game
00:31:58And Aaron Plessinger
00:32:00Well the numbers
00:32:01Don't lie
00:32:02He is on
00:32:03A roll
00:32:04And he's standing by
00:32:05With Will Christian
00:32:06Will?
00:32:07Thank you Lee
00:32:08He is indeed
00:32:09You are on a roll there
00:32:10We were talking to you
00:32:11Just a week ago
00:32:12And you got that
00:32:13First season win here
00:32:14And now we're back
00:32:15What is this Aaron?
00:32:16Is this momentum?
00:32:17Is this the track
00:32:19Shaping up for you?
00:32:20What's the key
00:32:21For getting that heat win here?
00:32:22Yeah I mean
00:32:23I think it's a little bit
00:32:24Of momentum
00:32:25I've been
00:32:26You know
00:32:27Stacking these podiums up
00:32:28Week after week
00:32:29And I
00:32:30Just missed the one
00:32:31In Indy
00:32:32And yeah I've just been
00:32:34Riding really really
00:32:35Really awesome
00:32:36And I
00:32:37I really don't know what
00:32:38Switched
00:32:39I've been doing the same
00:32:40Thing over and over and
00:32:41Week after week with the
00:32:42Alden and it's just been
00:32:43Going really good
00:32:44These past few weeks
00:32:45I've just had fun and
00:32:46Just kind of float around
00:32:47And uh
00:32:48You know appreciate what I
00:32:49Have so um yeah just
00:32:50Give it up to the whole
00:32:52Team KTM factory racing
00:32:53Red Bull
00:32:55Um
00:32:56My wife back home
00:32:57I'm here alone this
00:32:58Weekend so uh
00:32:59Doing it solo this
00:33:00Weekend but uh
00:33:02Yeah it's uh
00:33:03It's cool to be up here
00:33:04Uh
00:33:05Made the pass on coupe
00:33:06That was cool
00:33:07And uh
00:33:08I'm here to show them
00:33:09I'm a force to be reckoned with
00:33:10I ain't going anywhere
00:33:11No you're not
00:33:12Having fun out there
00:33:13And we're having fun watching
00:33:14Congratulations Aaron
00:33:15Aaron mentions Alden
00:33:16That's Alden Baker
00:33:17His trainer
00:33:18Along with many other riders
00:33:19But
00:33:20He asked the team for patience
00:33:21At the beginning of the season
00:33:22The team were patient
00:33:23And he's rewarding them
00:33:24With really great results
00:33:25A quick reminder that as you know
00:33:30Ken Roxton's one of the most popular
00:33:32Racers on the planet
00:33:33And you can win his dirt bike
00:33:35That's right
00:33:36For the second year in a row
00:33:37Suzuki has supported the kids and families
00:33:39At St Jude by raffling off
00:33:41Ken's Supercross race bike
00:33:43Scan that QR code you see on the right hand side
00:33:45Of your screen right now
00:33:47Or text Suzuki to 99126
00:33:51To enter
00:33:52Raising valuable funds
00:33:54For St Jude Children's Research Hospital
00:33:56Helping kids with cancer
00:33:58And that would be an awesome prize to win
00:34:02So
00:34:03Heat one done
00:34:04Heat two on the line
00:34:06And here he is
00:34:08Here is
00:34:09Ken Roxton's third place in the championship
00:34:12Daytona winner this season
00:34:14There's lots of highs
00:34:16He's been riding up against some injury woes
00:34:19But this guy is determined
00:34:21If nothing else
00:34:22Determine all the injuries as you mentioned
00:34:24And another guy
00:34:25That's looking for another determination
00:34:27Hopefully get another win
00:34:28Is this Chase Sexton
00:34:29I think it's
00:34:30Say it's a must
00:34:31But it's pretty close to
00:34:33Must as you need to
00:34:34And we just saw what happened
00:34:35With his teammate
00:34:36In that first heat race
00:34:37Aaron Buster
00:34:38But Chase Sexton needs to bounce back
00:34:39And it starts right now
00:34:41He's got that 32 of Chad
00:34:43That 32 of Justin Cooper to his left
00:34:46It's going to be tough
00:34:47He's going to have to really focus on that jump
00:34:49Out of the gate
00:34:50It's going to be crucial
00:34:52He had really good qualifying speed
00:34:54He was the fastest
00:34:56Cooper was pretty good at qualifying as well
00:34:58Here we go
00:34:59Heat two of the 450s here in Philly
00:35:00Sexton and Cooper
00:35:07Chase got to the corner first
00:35:09Cooper exits first
00:35:11It was a game of chicken James going into that first corner
00:35:15Between Sexton and Justin Cooper
00:35:17Yeah, just like we saw it in that first heat race
00:35:19Cooper got there first
00:35:20Chase got there first
00:35:21But ran a little wide
00:35:22Justin Cooper snuck on the inside
00:35:23And there you go
00:35:24This is where Justin Cooper has been
00:35:25Very good all year long
00:35:26Once you allow him out front
00:35:27His kids
00:35:28No time around a motorcycle
00:35:29And on the track
00:35:30That's so tricky like here
00:35:31Able to jump through the whoops
00:35:32Already and see if you can get this
00:35:34Triple able to get up a chase
00:35:35What's able to did it?
00:35:36Yeah, Chase was able to do that
00:35:37Justin just mistimed the triple out of the whoops
00:35:40Those last three got off sequence
00:35:41And he wasn't able to triple
00:35:42But look at
00:35:44Close out another few bike lengths
00:35:46Through that rhythm lane
00:35:47Well, a really nice start from the 51
00:35:48The Rockstar Energy Gas Gas
00:35:50Of Justin Barsha
00:35:51Justin's coming off
00:35:52One of his best results
00:35:53Of the season last weekend
00:35:54In Massachusetts
00:35:55With a fifth place
00:35:56In the moment
00:35:57He was able to jump through the whoops
00:35:58Already and see if he can get this triple
00:35:59Able to get it
00:36:00But Chase was able to did it
00:36:01Yeah, Chase was able to do that
00:36:02Justin just missed time
00:36:03The triple out of the whoops
00:36:04Those last three got off sequence
00:36:05He wasn't able to triple
00:36:06He was able to do it
00:36:07He was able to do it
00:36:08He was able to do it
00:36:09He was able to do it
00:36:10He was able to do it
00:36:11He was able to do it
00:36:12He was able to do it
00:36:13He was able to do it
00:36:14Fifth place in the mud
00:36:15In Foxborough
00:36:16So he's got some mojo going
00:36:17He's got some confidence here
00:36:19Yeah, Justin's been rod good
00:36:20The last few weekends
00:36:21And these guys trained together
00:36:22They rod down at the Baker's
00:36:23Factory
00:36:24Every day alongside Aaron
00:36:25Pleasantry
00:36:26Who won that first he racing
00:36:27My brother
00:36:28So they're pretty comfortable
00:36:29With each other
00:36:30But at the same time
00:36:31You never know
00:36:32With Justin Barsha
00:36:33He's here to win the race
00:36:34Nice run
00:36:35It was with Kenny
00:36:39Qualifying
00:36:40Was not fantastic
00:36:42For Ken Robson today
00:36:43He was 15th
00:36:46And that's the worst
00:36:47He has ever qualified
00:36:48In his career
00:36:49I mean he is
00:36:50He's banged up
00:36:51The shoulder is hanging on
00:36:52By a thread
00:36:53His ankle is injured as well
00:36:55He injured it
00:36:56Pretty much around the same time
00:36:58He aggravated it in the mud
00:37:00Last weekend
00:37:01In Foxborough
00:37:02But he is not going to give up
00:37:04Yeah, you can see him, Ken
00:37:05And especially these kind of
00:37:06Conditions
00:37:07Where you really got to be
00:37:08Holding on to the motorcycle
00:37:09With, you know, your arms
00:37:10And even with the legs
00:37:11So if you kind of enter
00:37:12I could see how this race
00:37:13Just like the last few of
00:37:14Would be hard for Kenny
00:37:15But I do believe with him a start
00:37:17Kind of helps him out a lot
00:37:18If he's able to get that clean
00:37:19Air
00:37:20Nice run
00:37:21Nice run
00:37:22Nice run
00:37:23On the inside of Mitchell Oldenburg
00:37:24Made a mistake
00:37:25That was pass
00:37:26And just rebound
00:37:27Be able to get him
00:37:28That was nice
00:37:29Yeah, Oldenburg
00:37:30Just got hung up
00:37:31A little bit
00:37:32Kenny was able to continue
00:37:33That momentum
00:37:34Got a really good run
00:37:35Into the woods
00:37:36Make the pass
00:37:37And again triple into that corner
00:37:38That is going to be very, very
00:37:39Crucial
00:37:40And important
00:37:41To be able to do that
00:37:42Gain a lot of time
00:37:43By doing so
00:37:44Yeah
00:37:45Rockson is now chasing after Benny Bloss
00:37:47And you may have seen the news
00:37:48In recent days
00:37:49That Benny has had his contract
00:37:51With the Liqui Moly beta team
00:37:52Extended
00:37:53I was talking with
00:37:54Carlin Gardner
00:37:55The team manager
00:37:56Earlier today
00:37:57Just said
00:37:58Look
00:37:59Everybody
00:38:00I'd ask everybody
00:38:01To remember that
00:38:02This brand is new
00:38:03We're still young
00:38:04In the sport of supercross
00:38:05And he said
00:38:06We're still young
00:38:07In the sport of supercross
00:38:08And he said
00:38:09We're still young
00:38:10We're still young
00:38:11In the sport of supercross
00:38:12And he said
00:38:13We're still young
00:38:14And he said
00:38:15We're making good strides
00:38:16All the time
00:38:17And he said
00:38:18Best thing about our team
00:38:19Is the positivity
00:38:20And we got a really good vibe
00:38:21Going on
00:38:22Between Benny Bloss
00:38:23And Mitchell Oldenburg
00:38:24And everybody on the squad
00:38:26And the results are coming
00:38:27They both qualified really well
00:38:28And here's Benny
00:38:29Running in fourth place
00:38:30Yeah, no
00:38:31I bet he's been right good
00:38:32And I love
00:38:33I love that for him
00:38:34Because it just shows
00:38:35The team's invested in him
00:38:36You know
00:38:37Not listening to the outside noise
00:38:38Of course
00:38:39Every team that wants
00:38:40To come in here
00:38:41They want to win
00:38:42And people put that pressure on them
00:38:43But just shows that the team
00:38:44Really has a belief in Benny
00:38:46And their progress
00:38:47That's making
00:38:48So great job by the team
00:38:50And extending him for another year
00:38:52I'm sure to be around for a while
00:38:54Yeah, some would call it a chance
00:38:55Going over there
00:38:56But like you and Lee
00:38:57Have talked about
00:38:58This team race team
00:38:59Has done a fabulous job
00:39:00And I love the loyalty
00:39:01By resigning Benny Bloss
00:39:02And giving him another opportunity to extend
00:39:06Is so comforting
00:39:07And it's definitely got to make Benny feel
00:39:11Feel good inside
00:39:12His race leader Justin Cooper
00:39:13Aboard the Monster Energy Star Yamaha
00:39:15Comfortably ahead of Chase Sexton
00:39:17Boy, this track James is just
00:39:19Really chewed up
00:39:20A lot of ruts coming out of the corners
00:39:22And then 180 bull turns
00:39:23It is going to be very challenging
00:39:24Like it is
00:39:25Every single weekend
00:39:26But because of how these conditions are
00:39:28I think it's going to be
00:39:29A bit more challenging
00:39:30Maybe than normal JT
00:39:31Yeah, Ricky and you guys were talking about Benny
00:39:34Blossary signing
00:39:35I have a feeling that
00:39:36Justin Cooper is going to end up
00:39:37Resigning at Star
00:39:38That's the word on the street
00:39:40Anyway
00:39:41And you think about the improvements
00:39:42That Justin Cooper has made this season
00:39:45You know, he ran up front of day 2
00:39:46It's fixed fixed mistakes here
00:39:48But the strides he has made throughout
00:39:49This season
00:39:50He looks so much more comfortable
00:39:51And he looks so much more
00:39:52Comfortable
00:39:53And he looks so much more
00:39:54Comfortable
00:39:55And he looks so much more
00:39:56Comfortable
00:39:57And he did earlier this season
00:39:58And that is what you want to see
00:40:01The growth
00:40:02The improvement in the maturity
00:40:03Is all shining through
00:40:04For the 32 James
00:40:05Sometimes I feel like
00:40:06This 450 machine and how
00:40:08Powerful it is
00:40:09And you know how you have to ride
00:40:11The bike with respect
00:40:12And sometimes they can be too fast
00:40:14I feel like Justin Cooper
00:40:15And how he is very patient
00:40:17With the throttle
00:40:18And kind of just takes what
00:40:19The bikes give him
00:40:21Helps him in situations
00:40:22So you know
00:40:23You know how you have to ride
00:40:24And I think it really comes down to
00:40:26Because they know how to ride
00:40:27And ride a motorcycle
00:40:28Especially Justin Cooper
00:40:29But as JT was mentioned
00:40:30And just improvement all year
00:40:31Right
00:40:32I think right now
00:40:33It's just a belief
00:40:34He belongs up purely
00:40:35Hey Ricky
00:40:36You mentioned at the top of the
00:40:37Show
00:40:38That the last five races
00:40:39Oh no
00:40:40Look at that
00:40:41Justin Cooper
00:40:42Gets jammed
00:40:44Behind Hunter Schlosser
00:40:46And Chase
00:40:47Sexton was in the right place
00:40:48At the right time
00:40:49Just to say thank you
00:40:50And go right around the outside
00:40:52Into the lead
00:40:53Yeah that was a nice move
00:40:54And Chase just doesn't follow
00:40:55I don't know if he went
00:40:57To this outside
00:40:58At any point of his race
00:40:59But he decided to go here
00:41:00And yeah
00:41:01Nothing Justin could do
00:41:02Yeah
00:41:03Lapper in front of him
00:41:04When made a mistake
00:41:05And then he was stuck behind
00:41:06And then he was stuck behind
00:41:07So here's the lead
00:41:08Cooper gets jammed
00:41:09And then Cooper gets jammed
00:41:10And then Cooper gets jammed
00:41:11selamat menikmati.
00:41:41I like what I've seen. I was watching him closely earlier today in time qualifying practice. He looked comfortable on his motorcycle, and he knows five races to go. Statistic-wise, this is when he does his best work. He's had some of his most wins come in the last five races, and it's go time.
00:42:01Got to eat into that 15-point advantage, and a heat win puts Chase Sexton in the right mindset, and the Red Bull KTM teammates win both heats.
00:42:12That's the right way to start the night. So Tom Vial, their 250 teammate might not have had the best afternoon, crashing out and being forced to go to the last chance qualifier.
00:42:24But for Aaron Plessinger, Chase Sexton, great work. Cooper comes in second. Barsha across the line in third. And we will hear what Chase Sexton thinks of that heat victory when we come back.
00:42:39Guess who's here watching Supercross? Ron Breaker, WWE star.
00:42:45Yep, you can play the official game at home and come and see it in the flesh like these wonderful fans here inside Lincoln Financial Field here on a very cold afternoon in Philadelphia.
00:43:05But running well up front, Chase Sexton. Let's hear from him.
00:43:09Thank you, Liam. He's been running well up front all day. Fastest qualifier early on, Chase. You backed that up with a heat win.
00:43:16We didn't really know what we were going to get coming into this weekend, especially after last weekend's weather.
00:43:21How's the track shaping up? How well is it suiting you? Are we going to see a change here leading into the main?
00:43:26The track's really good, especially for how much rain we got. The track crew did a great job.
00:43:30Great job, and even after practice, we got more rain, and the track is coming around really well.
00:43:35So, there's ruts, it's dry in some places, so it's a tricky track, and the whoops are pretty technical.
00:43:41So, it's going to be a good racetrack tonight, a lot of laps, and yeah, ready for the main event.
00:43:46We got more in the tank and just enjoying it.
00:43:48Seeming a good place. We'll see you in just a little bit. Thanks so much, Chase Sexton. Full of confidence tonight.
00:43:53Hey, that's good to hear. I've got more in the tank. I'm ready to go.
00:43:56You know which athletes always have ready and are ready to go?
00:44:01Well, something monumental that could only happen in Vegas.
00:44:03Let's watch John Cena, Cody Rhodes, and more of WWE's biggest superstars at WrestleMania live April 19th and 20th at 7 p.m. Eastern, 4 p.m. Pacific, only on Peacock.
00:44:14How would you two go in a wrestling ring?
00:44:16I got it.
00:44:19I got it.
00:44:20Come on, Arce, you've got to respond.
00:44:23It would be fun, I guess.
00:44:25There's food for thought.
00:44:30All right, Jason Thomas.
00:44:32Thank you, Lee and Bron Breaker.
00:44:35Your first Supercross.
00:44:36Next weekend, your first WrestleMania.
00:44:38Now, those guys up in the booth were talking about how they would go up against you in the ring.
00:44:42I don't think it would go very well for anybody here this weekend, but what are your thoughts?
00:44:46You got to see some heat races.
00:44:47What do you think about Supercross so far?
00:44:48I did.
00:44:48This is just an incredible event.
00:44:50I mean, this is my first Supercross event.
00:44:52Watching those first couple of heats was crazy, man.
00:44:55The amount of just physicality that goes into what these guys do on the track is incredible.
00:45:02My hat's off to them, these incredible athletes.
00:45:04It's what a great show.
00:45:06Well, there's so many parallels between Monster to Supercross and WWE.
00:45:11Now, we have a lot of second-generation racers.
00:45:13You yourself are a second-generation wrestler.
00:45:15I think that's a big part of this.
00:45:18It's such a family-oriented sport, and I think both of those share that.
00:45:21What do you think?
00:45:21Yeah, absolutely.
00:45:23It comes down to legacy and carrying on what our fathers and uncles or our family members have done before us in the game.
00:45:31And that's all I'm trying to do.
00:45:33I'm sure these guys can attest to the same thing.
00:45:36So just trying to do the best we can.
00:45:38Thanks for being here.
00:45:39I'm going to try to get out of here without catching a spear.
00:45:45When the Supermotocross World Championship returns to Philadelphia,
00:45:53Jason Thomas will be on the track to show you the treacherous conditions these athletes are facing tonight.
00:46:00And still to come, the all-out battle for the final four spots in tonight's main event.
00:46:05The last-chance qualifiers will take place when we return.
00:46:19Two 250 heats down, two 450 heats down, but still so much more to come here in the SMX Halftime Report
00:46:28on a pretty cold afternoon in Philadelphia.
00:46:34Seven-time Supercross champion Jeremy McGrath breaks down how riders choose their lines in a challenging sand section
00:46:42in this week's Science of Supermotocross, engineered by Kawasaki.
00:46:47The routes and the lanes the riders use around the track, we call them lines.
00:46:51Look at this place.
00:46:52It's destroyed.
00:46:52If you can pick a fast line in an ever-changing environment, you can get to the front.
00:46:58The sand section is such a tricky section.
00:47:00Look at this rut.
00:47:01It's knee-deep.
00:47:03I mean, look at this sand.
00:47:04It wants to reach out and grab you.
00:47:06It wants to slow the bike down.
00:47:07When you hit it, it's like, whoa, just slows the bike way down.
00:47:10Crazy.
00:47:11The sand section is a deciding point on the track.
00:47:14It forces you inside or outside.
00:47:15There's no middle option here.
00:47:17You have to decide before you get to this section which one you're going to take.
00:47:21The inside is where you go to protect.
00:47:23The outside line is where you go to make speed.
00:47:25If you have a guy right on your tail, you're probably going to duck inside
00:47:28because you want to protect the pass.
00:47:31You come into the sand with a bunch of mile per hour, but you've got to hit the brakes.
00:47:34You've got to get the bike slowed way down to get this line right here.
00:47:37The outside line is a little more free-flown.
00:47:39You can come in with a little more mile per hour, hit the berm.
00:47:42It's not as tight, so sometimes the outside, even though it's the longer way around, could be faster.
00:47:47I'll tell you guys why you don't see anything in the middle.
00:47:51If you go in the middle, you're not going to be able to turn and make the jump out of the corner.
00:47:56You need the mile per hour out of the berm, so you need the gravity feed right out of the berm
00:48:00to be able to make the section.
00:48:02If you go in the middle, you're kind of caught.
00:48:04You stop, you turn, can't make the double, so you might as well be on the inside.
00:48:08If you hit the inside, I would say you can probably make more mistakes
00:48:11because you're just going really slow.
00:48:13If you choose the outside, you better hit it with speed or it's not going to happen.
00:48:17The tricky thing is to not get cross-rutted, not slide, not pop out of the rut,
00:48:21let the front get twisted in the sand.
00:48:22We saw a lot of crashes tonight.
00:48:24You just have to be super precise.
00:48:26The difference maker is at the end of the section,
00:48:29so what the riders are doing, they're setting up the end of the section.
00:48:32They're going to go in faster.
00:48:34They're going to jump longer at the end,
00:48:35and the guy on the inside is making a little less mile per hour.
00:48:38He's a little bit slower.
00:48:39Possible passes made at the end of the section.
00:48:43Each week, Kawasaki highlights the science behind the sport of super motocross,
00:48:47and we give you an inside look at how champions are engineered.
00:48:50You can check it out at kawasaki.com to let the good times roll.
00:48:55Well, not many good times in his heat race for the 2024 East Division champion
00:49:01and the co-points leader at the moment, Tom Vial, aboard his Red Bull KTM.
00:49:06He went down hard while running second, rode off the track,
00:49:09and is forced to do this last-chance qualifier coming up,
00:49:13and that will take part on this as we take a closer look at the Yamaha track maps.
00:49:19Stu, why don't you kick us off?
00:49:21Yeah, I want to break down this section.
00:49:22This is a long rhythm section going down the top of our screen,
00:49:25and there's two 90s in this I want to break out at the end of this section.
00:49:28So the guy's going to have to make a decision this first night,
00:49:31to either go inside or outside, and then they hit this double.
00:49:35But what you don't see is the way the momentum,
00:49:37just the force is wanting to push these guys off the racetrack.
00:49:41So you're going down that long rhythm section,
00:49:44and this is that first 90 I'm talking about.
00:49:46Once you get in here, now you've got to decide
00:49:47whether you're going to go inside or outside.
00:49:49Depending on which line you go,
00:49:51this next jump is going to throw you on the inside or outside.
00:49:53So I think that's going to be a lot of opportunity for passing
00:49:56or at least try to stay close and maybe get around somebody
00:49:59in this next corner, which is where our own JT's at right now.
00:50:04Well, James, I'm standing in the whoops,
00:50:06and there's two really important aspects to this,
00:50:09and it's the corner before and the corner after.
00:50:11Now the corner before, you're going to see riders like Justin Cooper.
00:50:13They're going to stick that inside in the main event
00:50:16and find a rhythm. 3-3-3 riders like Chase section.
00:50:19They're going to rail that berm, carry all the momentum in
00:50:21and try to blitz across the top.
00:50:23But everybody is going to try to catch the downside
00:50:26of this last whoop so they can triple into that corner.
00:50:29And you saw Aaron Plessinger and Cooper Webb pick on it,
00:50:32pick up on it early in 450 Heat 1.
00:50:35That's going to be key for the main event.
00:50:37Ricky, what section caught your eye going into the main event?
00:50:39Well, right after the section that you were just talking about
00:50:42in the whoops, coming out of that corner right here,
00:50:44it's going to be key to make sure you grease the backside
00:50:47of that tabletop so you can go triple right here and then again triple
00:50:51and then single into that corner, especially for the 250 class
00:50:55because it's so much time to be made and lost.
00:50:58I think precision, though, for the 450 guys
00:51:00in that particular rhythm section will be ideal.
00:51:04Precision and timing and rhythm, all those key words
00:51:08and all those key ingredients that guys like Hayden Deegan have.
00:51:12He won. Seth Hammock, a co-points leader in the 250 East Division.
00:51:18He won. And then the teammates at KTM, Aaron Plessinger, Chase Sexton,
00:51:22all winning and starting today the perfect way.
00:51:26It's been a fun afternoon and there's so much more to come
00:51:30here inside Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia
00:51:33for the Monster Energy AMA Supercross.
00:51:36Yep, lots happened already in both categories, in both classes.
00:51:41Let's get you up to speed with this East-West Showdown Division
00:51:45in the 250 class.
00:51:48And straightaway, Hayden Deegan started making moves.
00:51:51That was one Julian Beaumare.
00:51:53Yeah, that was for second place and this was for his teammate
00:51:55to get in front.
00:51:57He did a great job.
00:51:57He followed those guys for a few laps and was able to get around.
00:52:00We're waiting for the fireworks, but it didn't happen.
00:52:02Number 38 got the W.
00:52:03He just got it done to the 250 East Division
00:52:07and right from the drop of the gate, Ricky Seth Amaka made his intentions very clear.
00:52:11Since that showdown, he has been unbelievable.
00:52:14But check out the defending champion, Tom Vial.
00:52:17That was a gnarly crash.
00:52:18He goes off.
00:52:19He's going to be in the last chance qualifier.
00:52:22He's got some work to do.
00:52:23A native of Pennsylvania, Amaka wins at home.
00:52:26That's 250s done.
00:52:28He's one of the 450s.
00:52:30Cooper Webb got a great start, but that wasn't the story.
00:52:33Look at the challenge coming from Eric Plessinger.
00:52:35Yeah, last week's winner.
00:52:37And when you're talking about confidence, this is what that breathes.
00:52:40The number seven was able to get around the defending points leader at this point
00:52:44and pull away.
00:52:44Looked good doing it.
00:52:47Nicely done.
00:52:48On to heat two of the 450s.
00:52:51And while Chase Sexton got to turn one first, it was Justin Cooper
00:52:55who snuck up the inside, Ricky, and took off.
00:52:57Yeah, he's got a lot of momentum going right now, riding extremely well.
00:53:01But then he gets caught up behind the lapper.
00:53:03That's going to happen.
00:53:04That's been a very difficult corner right there.
00:53:06It's very wet.
00:53:08Check this out.
00:53:09The number four of Chase Sexton.
00:53:11He looks really strong.
00:53:13So there you have it.
00:53:14Deegan, Amaka, Plessinger, Sexton.
00:53:16All winners here in Philadelphia to get the afternoon off to the best possible start.
00:53:22If you're just joining us, welcome, folks.
00:53:24Lee Diffie along with James Stewart, Ricky Carmichael.
00:53:26Stu, you first up.
00:53:27Let's talk 450s.
00:53:29So Plessinger's coming off a big win.
00:53:31Massachusetts in the mud.
00:53:32It was only his second career 450 victory.
00:53:34Can he carry what he learned last week?
00:53:36And he's full of confidence.
00:53:37He told Will Christian that.
00:53:39And go on and get it done again here tonight.
00:53:40Well, absolutely he can.
00:53:41And we just proved that he has the speed.
00:53:43He was able to get around Cooper Webb.
00:53:44And the reason, the story's really about Cooper Webb and Chase Sexton when you come to the points.
00:53:49But the reason I want to talk about Aaron Plessinger, not because he has the speed to win,
00:53:53but because Chase Sexton needs some help.
00:53:55If he goes out there and just wins every race and Cooper Webb gets second,
00:53:58Cooper Webb's still going to win your title.
00:54:00So having another rider like Aaron Plessinger, which, oh, by the way,
00:54:03just has to be your teammate, is Chase Sexton's biggest friend if he's able to win this championship.
00:54:08So that's what I'm looking forward to see if the number seven can back it up again tonight.
00:54:12Just that sense of belief is extraordinary.
00:54:14He's really on a roll.
00:54:15Let's turn the page.
00:54:16Let's talk 250s.
00:54:17East-West showdown.
00:54:18We love this.
00:54:19What are you looking for?
00:54:19Well, I like the intense rivalry between Hayden Deegan and Julian Boomer.
00:54:24I think there's going to be a lot to watch here.
00:54:25We go back to JT's report earlier.
00:54:28This was at Anaheim, too.
00:54:29They have a little run in.
00:54:30And then this was back in Seattle.
00:54:32Intense battle.
00:54:33They're going to have words shaking each other, slapping helmets, grabbing helmets.
00:54:37They're going to get fines, whatever.
00:54:38They're not supposed to take any action, but it's for the championship.
00:54:41I'm going to keep my eye on there and then have close that intense points battle in the
00:54:45250 East Division.
00:54:47Last time there was an East-West showdown, it was an East Division rider in Seth Hamaker,
00:54:51who happens to hail from Pennsylvania, who was victorious.
00:54:54We'll see if he can do it again.
00:54:56Hey, let's check out the upcoming schedule brought to you by Supercross the Game 25 and
00:55:02off to New Jersey next weekend, part of this big and unprecedented North East swing.
00:55:07And then Pittsburgh before we head a little further west to Denver and then the championship
00:55:12finale in Salt Lake City.
00:55:13And then it's all about the outdoors.
00:55:16Looking forward to lots of fun coming up.
00:55:20And now for our U.S. Bank real good moment.
00:55:23Delta, Utah's Carol Brinkman has found a unique way to making learning more fun for her fifth
00:55:31grade students.
00:55:32Three, two, Saturdays are race days.
00:55:38Using dirt bike racing as a real world backdrop, Carol's Motovated program teaches youngsters
00:55:44about geography, math and climate across the cities and states where the Supermotocross
00:55:50league races.
00:55:50So you're looking for the weather in Foxborough for 5 p.m.
00:55:56What's the percentage of rain?
00:55:58Philadelphia is home to slices of Einstein's brain.
00:56:03The Zoom calls with the riders where they can actually connect are fantastic.
00:56:08Learning the lessons, never give up.
00:56:10You know, even if you crash early, that's really the way I want to be remembered is that
00:56:14I created this program that has really made a difference in these kids' lives.
00:56:19And that was our U.S. Bank real good moment.
00:56:23And it really was a feel-good moment involving Moto in school.
00:56:30Couldn't ask for any more.
00:56:31Last chance qualifier coming up.
00:56:33We welcome you back to Philadelphia just in time for the 250 last chance qualifier.
00:56:41Only four will make it.
00:56:43And there are some big-name riders like Tom Vial to the far left of your screen.
00:56:47He does not get a great start.
00:56:49He's out a little bit wide.
00:56:51But he's done enough to put himself at least in the top view.
00:56:55Well, that was full commitment from the outside.
00:56:58A clutch performance when you need it.
00:57:00So important.
00:57:02He was able to break late getting into that first corner.
00:57:06That's what helped him get by so many guys.
00:57:08Oh!
00:57:08I think that was Isaiah Clark.
00:57:11It went down.
00:57:12Yeah.
00:57:13It is.
00:57:14Yeah, that was really clutched by Tom Vial because he didn't get a good jump.
00:57:18And if for somehow he goes on to win this championship, we're going to go back to this race.
00:57:22If he can get out of this and be like, that was your championship saber right there.
00:57:26That was brave.
00:57:27And he did a great job at doing it.
00:57:28Making it happen in important moments just like this where you know you have to get a good start.
00:57:36You're on the very outside gate.
00:57:39He's short-shifted, got his weight to the back of the bike.
00:57:41Check it out right here.
00:57:42It's at the bottom of your screen there.
00:57:45And there he goes, leaning back.
00:57:48And see how he gets into the first corner.
00:57:50Slides the back end, but was able to make a lot of moves by a lot of guys
00:57:55just because it jams up so much on that inside.
00:57:59Yeah, when you're on the inside, you're not really paying attention to the outside guy.
00:58:02And that guy was able to outbreak you.
00:58:04And again, Tom did a great job because, I mean, he had no choice, really.
00:58:08Right?
00:58:08So that was nice.
00:58:11JT, what you got?
00:58:12Well, thinking about that outside that he used there, even if he goes on to win this LCQ,
00:58:16he's still going to be, you know, that 18th, 19th gate pick.
00:58:19So he's going to have to remember how well that worked and to fully commit in that main event.
00:58:24Otherwise, he's going to get buried on the outside there.
00:58:26So that's a really good lesson he's going to have to carry with him.
00:58:29Another guy here in this last chance qualifier, Michael Moseman.
00:58:34I mean, he's won races.
00:58:36So I'm very surprised to see him in there, Will.
00:58:40Yeah, just heading back there, guys, to Tom B. Allen, how he ended up in this LCQ here.
00:58:46I checked him with the team.
00:58:47Physically, they said he was absolutely fine.
00:58:49That wasn't the reason that he headed off track there.
00:58:52They just said he admitted he made a silly mistake.
00:58:55Too far left, he said.
00:58:56That's on me.
00:58:57I shouldn't have done that.
00:58:57But I guess there was a lot of mud.
00:58:59Got on his grips.
00:59:00Got on his gloves.
00:59:02Packed in the bike.
00:59:03And he just decided, I can't get back to 9th, which is where he would have had to get back to,
00:59:07to transfer straight through.
00:59:09So they left.
00:59:10And the team told me it was quite a lot of work to get all the mud, actually,
00:59:13from that fall off the bike and get him ready here.
00:59:15How about a little bit of local flavor as well?
00:59:17Another Pennsylvania rider from Pittsburgh.
00:59:20Gavin Towers leads the way.
00:59:21Gavin got a super start and has been out in front ever since aboard his Phoenix Racing Honda.
00:59:29And then we go back to behind Tom Villar, Lutonese, Michael Moseman, Hardy Munoz.
00:59:34They're all in the mix.
00:59:35Everybody wants to go to the main event in this East-West Divisional Showdown.
00:59:39And again, as I mentioned earlier, you got the best of the East and West.
00:59:45So you have all these guys.
00:59:47Some of these guys having raced against each other, even though he had a showdown a couple
00:59:51of weeks ago.
00:59:52A lot of these guys haven't raced, so you're getting familiar with it.
00:59:54But I think so far, these four, if they can just keep that gap between fifth place,
00:59:59Harden Munoz, I think they'll be fine.
01:00:00And nobody's going to do anything crazy unless the bat comes up.
01:00:04As Michael Moseman making that good move on the inside, set that up beautifully and just
01:00:10gives himself a little more breathing room, Ricky.
01:00:12Yeah, there's Hardy right there.
01:00:16Lutonese blocks the inside, anticipating Hardy to go up to make the move.
01:00:23And that's not the case.
01:00:24Closes the door.
01:00:25Oh!
01:00:27Munoz looks on the inside.
01:00:28That was an aggressive angle.
01:00:30Just a little bit too far back to make that happen.
01:00:33That would have been some heavy contact.
01:00:35There's the move.
01:00:36Jumps his way into that fourth spot.
01:00:38Lutonese responds.
01:00:42Good battle now.
01:00:43Hardy's got to play that defense because here it comes again.
01:00:48Fantastic changing of positions into the whoops.
01:00:50Here comes Munoz on the outside.
01:00:55Really leaned in on him.
01:00:56That's impressive.
01:00:57That's a very brave move.
01:01:00And he makes it work already on the outside, maybe anticipating for Luke to make a move,
01:01:08put him off the track.
01:01:09Remember, this is the last chance.
01:01:10Anything goes.
01:01:11And that was a great pass.
01:01:13You got to wonder, did, uh,
01:01:14did, uh, Munoz knew he needed to get that position, but didn't need to know the same thing
01:01:20because you would have think he would have put a little bit of fault to a little fight.
01:01:23So, now he's coming back up.
01:01:25He's got to stay close.
01:01:27Otherwise, he's going home early today.
01:01:29Quick reminder that all season long, you can tune in to the Spanish broadcast on the
01:01:33Telemundo page of the NBC app and on the Telemundo YouTube channel.
01:01:37And you can join Edgar and Tommy all the way through to the Super Motocross World Championship
01:01:42Finals.
01:01:43Back up front.
01:01:45Great job, Gavin Towers, the youngster from Pittsburgh.
01:01:49And he's got the champ chasing him down.
01:01:51And Vial just had a little error there.
01:01:53Got out of that rut, ran wide.
01:01:56But there's no immediate pressure.
01:01:57He's going through to the main event.
01:01:58That's the objective achieved if he stays where he is over these closing two laps.
01:02:02See quite a few guys going into that corner have difficulty with it, that right-hander.
01:02:08It's almost like they're not leaned over enough, and they're not centered enough up in the
01:02:12rut, and it grabs you and pulls you to the opposite side.
01:02:16Yeah, no, and then the rut just forms really big.
01:02:18And I think, as you were just saying, they land.
01:02:20That's probably the softest part of the racetrack, the most stinkiest part.
01:02:23So those guys landed and the bike grabs them, and they're going one way or another.
01:02:27But I think Tom is probably going to struggle a little bit because you think he only wrote
01:02:32one lap at night.
01:02:32He raced, and before that, it's been a few hours since he's been on a racetrack, so
01:02:36probably hasn't ridden on this racetrack besides one lap over the last five hours, so
01:02:41it's cold out here, so the mistakes are probably going to happen.
01:02:44He'll figure it out.
01:02:45He has no choice.
01:02:46The main event's coming up next.
01:02:47Well, it's never fun to be in a last chance qualifier, but if you're going to win one
01:02:52and it's a showdown, like James talked about earlier in this race, a little more heat
01:02:58in this last chance qualifier than normal because you got the best for both coasts.
01:03:05Here you go.
01:03:08Best result of the season at the last race out, and then winning the last chance qualifier.
01:03:14Well done.
01:03:15Gavin Towers over the champ.
01:03:17Vial, Michael Moseman, and Hardy Munoz confirms the four riders going through to the East-West
01:03:24showdown main event.
01:03:27Boy, that is going to be fantastic.
01:03:29Well done, Gavin Towers.
01:03:45Here's a reminder that your fans can see maybe what you've been missing.

01:04:08So if you've got a friend who's interested in that, let them know.
01:04:12250 last chance qualifier done.
01:04:14450s are on the line.
01:04:16Same rules apply.
01:04:17The top four will advance to the 450 main event here in Philly.
01:04:24It's been some great racing today, fellas.
01:04:27You ain't lying.
01:04:29We were talking about it off air, just how this racetrack has developed.
01:04:37You've got Kyle Chisholm on the 11th.
01:04:40Last chance qualifier.
01:04:42Supremo, as far as wins, he doesn't want to be here,
01:04:49but he finds himself in another LCQ, fighting it out.
01:04:54I feel like Kyle Chisholm becomes a different racer in these things,
01:04:57like just really smart, kind of like a Cooper Webb effect,
01:05:00just very patient, allows this race to come,
01:05:03but something to hear about Philly.
01:05:06Fireworks are already getting started.
01:05:08Out in front, Grant Harlan feeling good.
01:05:11Had a birthday yesterday.
01:05:14See if he can celebrate, continue the celebrations
01:05:16with a last chance qualifier win.
01:05:18Great move aboard that twisted THEP Suzuki by Kyle Chisholm.
01:05:22Look at Rod Bell, 148.
01:05:26That red Honda third.
01:05:28He got a personal best last week
01:05:30in Foxborough in the main event,
01:05:33the 250 division.
01:05:35Now he's in the 450.
01:05:38Putting on a good ride here to last chance.
01:05:40Man, these first couple laps in last chance.
01:05:42Races are so intense.
01:05:44Guys going everywhere,
01:05:45trying to make moves up the inside, outside.
01:05:48Yeah, these guys are going back and forth,
01:05:53and the track kind of sets it up that way,
01:05:55because one guy gets bunched up,
01:05:57and if the third place guy gets bunched up,
01:05:58he brings the whole pack into it,
01:06:00so these guys aren't going to be playing nice for much longer.
01:06:08I just can't help but think about how lucky we've been,
01:06:12and the fans and the riders,
01:06:13that we've dodged the rain, or more severe rain,
01:06:17considering what the weather was like yesterday,
01:06:19and even a little earlier today,
01:06:21so it's worked out so far so good.
01:06:28See those shiny parts are coming up on the track,
01:06:30and that's going to make it really difficult for these guys,
01:06:32because they're going to worry about being it really sticky,
01:06:35and once they let off the brakes,
01:06:36the bike wants to grab them,
01:06:37but then you have these shiny parts on it.
01:06:39You see some dust coming up,
01:06:41as you see the guys lives in the rear end.
01:06:43That's all because the track's starting to get a lot slipperier
01:06:45as it gets down to that plywood,
01:06:46it makes it even more difficult and tricky for these guys
01:06:49as the day goes on.
01:06:53Yeah, as they, as this track starts to get down to the plywood,
01:06:58these guys start to get towards the back of the bike,
01:07:00like James talked about in the woods,
01:07:02is to get that traction,
01:07:04like when he's talking about his brother Malcolm
01:07:05and how he rides heavy on the bike,
01:07:07you want to get as much force down on that rear wheel
01:07:09as possible to go forward.
01:07:12You do not want your wheel,
01:07:13your rear wheel to spin.
01:07:16Coming out of this corner right here
01:07:18is a perfect example
01:07:19of what James is talking about.
01:07:25Justin Rodbell runs third at the moment.
01:07:28You may remember last weekend,
01:07:29he got fourth in the 250 class.
01:07:33Well, he hasn't made a 450 main
01:07:35since Seattle last year.
01:07:39So let's see if he can do it right here, right now.
01:07:42Kevin Moran's doing the chasing.
01:07:47Man, this is a battle.
01:07:48I'm just like,
01:07:49I got one foot in and one foot out.
01:07:52These guys are riding really well
01:07:54and that's why.
01:07:56Pretty precise going through these rhythm sections.
01:07:58Remember on that track report
01:08:00that James JT and I did.
01:08:04Do it really well.
01:08:05Yeah, and I feel like Jerry hands
01:08:07probably in the catbird seat
01:08:08because even though he's out of the
01:08:09transfer position,
01:08:10this battle that's going on in front of him,
01:08:12one of these guys
01:08:13who end up making a mistake
01:08:14and he's going to be your beneficiary
01:08:16right there so he could just stay close to him,
01:08:18not make a mistake himself.
01:08:19They're going to be worried about battling each other.
01:08:21You might go sneak up the inside and get one of them.
01:08:24Yeah, you can sit back.
01:08:25He's got a front row seat to the show.
01:08:27That's for sure.
01:08:29Still some time left here at the minute.
01:08:31Plus a lot. Nice move.
01:08:32There we go.
01:08:35And it's returned. No, not quite.
01:08:40So hand into that fourth spot.
01:08:43Now the pressure is on Justin Rodbell.
01:08:47I just can't help but think back to last week
01:08:49at Rodbell's expression
01:08:50when we interviewed him up on the podium
01:08:53for that fourth place.
01:08:54He's like, man, this was unbelievable.
01:08:56This was unreal.
01:09:02That's actually gets really hard for those guys
01:09:04when they land off that wheel.
01:09:08Just picking up on what you said there about Justin.
01:09:11It was just, it was contagious,
01:09:13his excitement of how that went down.
01:09:15And what fascinated me is then he talked about
01:09:17going straight back to work on Monday.
01:09:18This guy, you know, works Monday to Friday,
01:09:21and he just, I think that disbelief
01:09:22that he was in that situation
01:09:24fourth in a main event,
01:09:26and then straight back to it on Monday
01:09:27with his regular job.
01:09:29Think about that,
01:09:31and then he's out here battling
01:09:32with the best SMX riders in the world.
01:09:35That's incredible.
01:09:36I can tell you, it's hard enough to do
01:09:38when you do it full-time training and riding,
01:09:42but then you have a full-time regular job.
01:09:44Massive kudos.
01:09:45If he doesn't hurry up,
01:09:47he's going to be getting to work early
01:09:48because he needs a position.
01:09:49Have you ever wanted to walk the track
01:09:57before the big race,
01:09:58or be next to the world's best races
01:10:00at an SMX World Championship event
01:10:02before the 450 gate drop,
01:10:04or maybe dodge the champagne shower at the podium,
01:10:06where you can do all that and more.
01:10:08Go to smsexperiences.com for full details
01:10:11on how to become a VIP member
01:10:13at an upcoming race.
01:10:15Don't just watch Supercross, live it.
01:10:19And you can see it.
01:10:20What we're enjoying right here, right now in Philly.
01:10:23And I can tell you, it's a different perspective
01:10:25when you get behind the scenes like that,
01:10:27really see what these riders face on these racetracks.
01:10:31It is absolutely impressive.
01:10:35Ron was talking about it,
01:10:36and I had a chance to meet him earlier today.
01:10:39Oh, you did?
01:10:39Yeah, it's like, he was blown away.
01:10:41It was cool to see his reaction.
01:10:42I love people that have come to an SMX race
01:10:44for the first time and just hear what they had to say.
01:10:49So 1.2, almost 1.3 seconds for Grant Harlan
01:10:53over Kyle Chisholm.
01:10:55Got a really good start and hasn't looked back.
01:11:00Maybe it was at dinner last night that we saw him at.
01:11:03Celebrating his birthday.
01:11:07And the weekend just continues with positivity.
01:11:09Well done.
01:11:10LCQ victory.
01:11:13He won in Detroit, wins here.
01:11:15Kyle Chisholm, Kevin Morans with a fist pump.
01:11:18And Jeremy Hand gets that all-important fourth and final spot
01:11:22to go to the 450 main event.
01:11:25Yeah!
01:11:26He's just looked up at confirmation of that.
01:11:32250 East-West Showdown is coming up.
