00:00On the phone, we have a woman from Taylor Mill, Kentucky.
00:04She is the daughter of Todd and Jackie.
00:05She has a sister named Christy.
00:07As a child, she proclaimed on home video footage that she would one day play at the Grand Ole Opry, and she has.
00:14She will be here with Kenny Chesney at Raymond James Stadium April 23rd,
00:18and now will be forever known as a CMA award-winning artist.
00:23Ladies and gentlemen, your reigning CMA Female Vocalist of the Year, Carly Pearce.
00:30Wow, that was quite the introduction.
00:33Yeah, it was.
00:34Who are you talking to here?
00:35What do you think happens every time we talk, Carly?
00:38This is impressive.
00:39I was like, wow, all my siblings, my parents, everybody.
00:44Well, it's an impressive family, so we had to recognize everybody.
00:47Is your sister single by any chance?
00:50She's not.
00:51Sorry, JR.
00:52Thank you, Lana.
00:53Once again, we were just talking about this off the air.
00:55She always tries to set me up with people, but moving on.
00:57All right, so first of all, if we could just go back a few weeks to the CMA Awards.
01:03Wanted to say, loved your speech.
01:06I thought you started off really strong.
01:07You're such a jerk.
01:09Oh, gosh.
01:10I mean, honestly, as soon as I got off stage, I was like, somebody tell me what I just said.
01:17Well, way to have a sister with Ashley McBride get up there and go, all right, let me translate for y'all what these tears mean.
01:23That was awesome.
01:23That was actually really funny.
01:24That was great.
01:25I know.
01:26I just was at a loss for words.
01:29We couldn't tell.
01:30I think that you, I know, right?
01:32You couldn't tell.
01:32I was like losing it.
01:33But you just can never prepare yourself for something like that.
01:37Right.
01:37And it was just the best moment that I think I've had so far.
01:41That and the Grand Ole Opry.
01:43Now, I know that you're there with a lot of celebs, but next day or whatever, who is the most famous person that texted you to congratulate you?
01:50Oh, gosh.
01:52I mean, Tricia Yearwood did.
01:57Leanne Womack.
01:59Nice.
01:59Patty Loveless.
02:01Wow.
02:01All the people that I freak out over.
02:03Yeah.
02:04What about Dolly?
02:05No Dolly.
02:06No Dolly.
02:07After all those years at Dollywood.
02:10I know.
02:11You're just looking at me from afar.
02:12Well, you know, Carly, you were just talking about you can't ever prepare yourself for something like that.
02:17You know what you can get prepared for is this Kenny Chesney concert that is coming in April.
02:21Amen to that.
02:22Yes.
02:23Here now, tour kicks off right here in Tampa, April 23rd.
02:25So, I mean, what are you doing to prepare for this?
02:29You know, I think that this is the biggest tour that you could be a part of.
02:33To me, he's the king of country music touring, and I'm just excited to be touring on music that I feel like is the music I was always intended to make and just at this point in my career.
02:46So, I'm just getting prepared to bring all this stuff and just the celebration of the last year on the tour with me.
02:55Kevin, what is the capacity at Raymond James Stadium?
02:58It's about 65,000.
03:00How are you feeling about that, Carly?
03:01That's normal, right?
03:02Yeah.
03:03Just another Carly Pierce show.
03:06Yeah, totally like what I'm used to at my shows.
03:09Have you played a stadium before?
03:11I have.
03:12When I was on tour with Luke Bryan, we did a few stadiums, and that was amazing.
03:19But I don't know that you ever really get used to that either, so I wouldn't say that I'm like, you know, old hat with that.
03:25Well, that makes it fun, too, that you don't get used to that.
03:27It's like, all right, this is a very exciting moment.
03:29When playing a stadium like that, how do you change?
03:32I mean, because you're trying to cater to all these people versus like right in front of you on a stage.
03:36How do you do that?
03:37Like, how do you change your stage presence for something like that?
03:40You know, I think I'm going to figure that out because I feel like, for me, this music in particular that I'm putting out now is what people are really wanting to hear from me.
03:50And so I think it's staying authentic to myself and not trying to do something that I'm not, but make sure that it withholds and stands up to everything in a stadium.
04:00Well, you know, the intro that I gave you earlier can be delivered at the stadium.
04:04I think you should record that for me so that I can have it.
04:08We don't trust my live performances currently with it.
04:11I only want it recorded because I don't trust you to do it every night.
04:14Yeah, I know.
04:14She does.
04:15You know, one of the cool things about going on tour with Kenny, first of all, you're just on tour with Kenny Chesney, but he does that lottery merch.
04:23So every night, somebody's name goes into a big sombrero and they pick out a name and somebody gets the merchandise for that night.
04:31The money for the merchandise?
04:32The money from the merchandise from that night.
04:33Oh, I was going to say, they get a t-shirt.
04:35I mean, okay, that's cool and all.
04:36No, sometimes it's up to like $300,000.
04:39Wow.
04:40And then at the end of the tour, Carly, you get to go to the Virgin Islands for a week on Kenny's Dime.
04:45That would be nice.
04:47Kenny, if you're listening, let's go.
04:48Yeah, he's been doing it since like the early 2000s, taking it's like everybody, the crew, the merchandise people, the catering people.
04:55He takes everybody.
04:56Carly.
04:57Carly.
04:58Yeah.
04:58Yeah, Carly.
04:59I've heard just, I don't know, I think he is going to be such an inspiration to me, just of like what you can do for people around you that commit to taking care of your business.
05:12That's really special to me.
05:14Well, we can't wait to see you April 23rd, loving the new music with you and Ashley McBride.
05:19Never wanted to be that girl.
05:21Congratulations on always being known as a CMA award winning artist.
05:26Ladies and gentlemen, your reigning CMA female vocalist of the year, Carly Pierce.
05:31Carly!
05:34Well, have a great day.
05:35We'll see you soon.
