00:20The government is more concerned about preparing for the possible hit of the Big One in the Philippines.

00:30The Big One is the possible hit of the 7.2 magnitude earthquake or even stronger.

00:41The Department of Public Works and Highways said that more than 20,000 structures have been assessed.

00:48The government is focused on retrofitting, especially in Metro Manila, to prepare for the possible hit of the Big One.

00:55As of today, we have assessed more than 21,000 public buildings.

01:01We will recommend retrofitting for many of these.

01:06But we have already finished retrofitting.

01:09Retrofitting means to raise the standards for the international earthquake standards.

01:17The DPWH is also providing technical assistance to the Transportation Department

01:22to ensure the structural integrity of railway transits.

01:26We need to consult the DOTR. They are in charge of the MRT and LRT.

01:33But if they ask us for help to help their workers and assess the structural integrity of the infrastructure,

01:43including ports and airports, we are ready to help.

01:47They have their own technical team.

01:50Sometimes they ask us, especially in the review of the plans and assessment of their infrastructure.

01:58The agency's 2,000 equipment is also distributed.

02:51that our LGUs are primarily on their shoulders,

02:56to help us ensure that they will give the construction permits correctly

03:01and the occupancy permits must also have the correct meaning of the plan

03:07because the plan is different from the implementation.

03:09President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. also urged all agencies to have a long-term solution

03:15in preparing for the Big One.
