00:00The 31st season of the National Capital and Regional Athletic Association, or NCRAA, has officially started yesterday at the Coneta Astrodome.
00:09Let's take a look at the highlights of the event in Jamaica Bayaka's report.
00:15The Coneta Astrodome was filled with colors from different schools in the opening ceremony of the NCRAA Season 31.
00:23With the team where stars are born, schools are ready to show their fighting spirit.
00:27Two richest stars and a world champion this season.
00:30One of the highlights of the ceremony yesterday were the opening number prepared by some participating schools, choral, presentation of Miss NCRAA Season 31, delivery of messages by officials, and many more.
00:42One of the chief officers and the general manager of NCRAA, Buddy Encarnado, gave a statement on the importance of holding such types of events for Philippine sports.
00:53Well, again, let me emphasize that in NCRAA, my philosophy is always homegrown.
01:00Because the local leagues should be able to provide the venue for these talents to flourish.
01:10The big leagues, the big collegiate leagues, they always go outside.
01:15They go to the U.S., they go somewhere, look for the best players, but at the end of the day, they will go home.
01:22But unlike if we try to look for the basketball look and cranny in the Philippines, we will be able to provide more new faces into Philippine sports, collegiate sports.
01:36Look at the way we provided to the Gillis programs, the Ocampo brothers of St. Francis of Assisi.
01:44We also have Big Manuel, Gary David, and now Clarito is with Rain or Shine.
01:50These are the kind of products that I want to graduate for NCRAA this season.
01:58As part of promoting their goals, Encarnado also shared changes in their officiating format, aiming for a more organized competition.
02:07We have adopted so many things. For example, the referee substitution, we will be adopting that as well.
02:16Right now, we have four referees at any given time. Based on the assessment of the technical committee, we can switch referees during game time.
02:31So these are things that we have to adopt, if only to be making sure that there is transparency in the officiating.
02:42This has always been the problem of all of the leagues. Nobody is satisfied. So we have to keep with that kind of expectation.
02:54Aside from basketball, other sports are expected in the event such as volleyball, beach volleyball, swimming, badminton, and chess.
03:02The event will be featured live on PTV Sports Network every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
03:10Jabay Kabayaka from the National TV Network for a new and better Philippines.
