00:00The need to equip ourselves with more and more reliable and resilient rail networks inevitably
00:08comes from technological innovation and, in particular, from digitization,
00:13an essential element of another central driver in the transformation of the compartment, sustainability.
00:19Innovation and digitization in railway infrastructures, digital twin, sustainability,
00:27predictive maintenance and BIM, carried out at the Politecnico di Milano
00:31and organized by the Italian Railway Engineers College in collaboration
00:35with the Department of Energy of Ateneo and Arpaceas.
00:38In the last three years, and I am not afraid to be denied, there has been a paradigm shift
00:44regarding the adoption of digital technologies and the approach in terms of sustainability.
00:52I would also like to say that our company has had an important role in this phase,
00:58in the last three years, accompanying the main players of the railway infrastructure line
01:07and therefore reaffirming its role of leadership thanks to a continuous innovation of products and services,
01:14as has been demonstrated in today's agreement.
01:19In order to meet the increasing demand from citizens and the standards from 2030 to 2050
01:25requested by the European Community, it is necessary for the capacity of the railway network to grow.
01:30Thinking about still occupying territory is not sustainable from an environmental or economic point of view,
01:37so technology must come against us.
01:40We ask those who develop these technologies to work to have a more reliable railway infrastructure
01:48and to be resilient, so that it is able to respond both to the increase in traffic
01:53and to the quality of the service that we have seen in recent months, in short, it has given us some concerns.
01:59To present the technologies that are revolutionizing the world of transport on the railway,
02:04Professor Maurice Brenna of the Department of Energy of the Politecnico di Milano.
02:08In the field of design we have the BIM, which is an integrated design system
02:14that allows an integrated design of both infrastructures and technological systems.
02:21Then we have artificial intelligence techniques that allow the optimization of energy consumption
02:28and finally we have new signaling systems that allow greater interoperability of trains
02:37and a greater ability to serve the punctuality and reliability of the system.
02:44The Lombardy region sees in railway transport an important opportunity for investment
02:49to accelerate on the front of sustainability and shared mobility.
02:53We have not only invested 1.7 billion for the change of the fleet with the purchase of 214 new trains,
03:02we have invested on hydrogen an important bet that will start next year
03:07in the Brescia-Iseo-Edolo deal with 14 hydrogen trains.
03:12We have also invested on the railway network,
03:16especially with 15 billion from the PNRR with RFI,
03:22which is setting up a railway network renewal system.
03:27All this will lead to a better and more efficient transport system
03:32and that also offers a better comfort from the point of view of the citizen.
