00:00Guys, I'm currently standing in Minnesota on a frozen lake right now, and you might be wondering,

00:04Westin, what are you doing in Minnesota on a frozen lake? Well, we're just doing some testing.

00:08Some testing with a Corvette on saw blades. And right here, it's currently sitting on a frozen

00:14lake, but there's a whole lake to explore. And I don't know if the Corvette's going to fall through

00:17or not, but that's what the whole point of this video is to find out. What happens when you put

00:21saw blades on a Corvette? Oh my God. Guys, today I have maybe one of the craziest ideas I've come

00:47up with in a long time. So, you see this right here? This is a off-road Corvette. And as you

00:52can tell, it's got big off-road tires on it. It looks really cool. But you know, I thought about

00:57this and I'm like, there's something we need to do with this Corvette to really test it out.

01:01Basically, you see how it has off-road tires and wheels under it? We're going to get rid of those

01:05because we're going to replace them with something way better. Oh dude, they look even dumber now

01:11that I've seen them again. So guys, you might be wondering what these are, right? Well, on today's

01:16episode, the whole thing that we're going to try to do is we're going to try to see what happens

01:20if you replace tires and wheels with saw blades. And these aren't any normal saw blades. These are

01:24saw blades we had specially made. These are half-inch thick saw blades. They are extremely,

01:28extremely heavy. We're going to bolt them onto that and basically make a 400 horsepower V8 saw.

01:35And I think that we're going to take it to a frozen lake. By the way,

01:39if you never see the Corvette again, just know it fell through.

01:46I think it'll be fine until it goes on the lake. And if it falls through, like you ever

01:50seen people that fall through the ice and then they can't find the hole that they came out of

01:54and then they drowned? There we go. Let's roll this out of the way. So see this,

02:00this here, this is a failure. This just doesn't work. But we roll that out of here

02:05and we grab this bad girl. Oh, it's so heavy. And we slap this bad girl right here on.

02:14And then we should be able to bolt the saw blade directly to that. What I'm actually

02:18genuinely surprised about guys is this Corvette has been through so much abuse and somehow the

02:24front end of this Corvette is still completely together and works fine. I'm taking this thing,

02:28rock crawling, drifting, sand duning to your mom's house. All right. Come here, sweetheart.

02:34Oh, it fits. Oh, this is going to be epic. I'm so excited now.

02:41All right. Well, let's take a look. Oh my God. That's going to be wild. You have noticed also

02:49as the coilover is coming apart right there too. And somehow the front end of this Corvette is

02:52still completely together and works fine. Ready? It's for its final moment of truth,

02:57how it looks when it's sitting on the ground. Oh, dude, this is going to be dangerous as fuck.

03:12Oh, that sounded serious. I've seen some crazy stuff in my day, but I've never seen a Corvette.

03:20Hold on. Sorry. Let's go, bro. On saw blades before. The question is what will they do when

03:25we actually try to drive the car? And there's really only one way to find out.

03:30Dude, I'm actually, I never really get worried driving anything, but this kind of worries me.

03:44Dude, it shakes the car so bad.

03:48How far do I got to the gravel? 10 foot. I think once it makes it to the gravel, it'll be all right.

04:10Dude, it takes a lot more power than you would think to get it to go.

04:13All right, let me just try going forward real slow.

04:22Oh my gosh. Dude, this is wild.

04:31What's weird about it is every time I let out on the clutch, you can just feel the back of the car

04:35go whoop, just sink because it's digging into the ground that hard. Well, I guess I better get back

04:40to the lumber yard. You know how there was a 5% chance that something was going to happen to us?

04:53I feel like that chance has went to about 60% after driving it. This is definitely sketchy.

05:11What I'm actually really curious about is this is what it's like on hard gravel.

05:17What's it going to be like on dirt? Only one way to find out. One way to find out.

05:24This is actually doing real well. This is way better than I thought it would do. Just meant for this.

05:31It's doing well. Oh, it's plowing hard. It's like I'm plowing the road. I feel like we're

05:38going to have to fix the road after this. Come on, let's go down the rally. Oh, that'll work.

05:58That wasn't good. Oh, yeah, it's stuck. All right. Well, here's where we're at. We've tested out the

06:04Corvette on saw blades. And let me tell you, I'm not sure I could say it's impressive. But what is

06:08impressive is how deep of a cut it made into the earth. Look at that. It's currently stuck at the

06:13moment. So we're going to try to pull it backwards with the K&M and get it out of here. And I actually

06:17want to see the only thing I want to do before we try to load it up and take it to Minnesota and put

06:20it on a frozen lake. I want to see how this thing does at high speed. So we have a straightaway over

06:25there. I think if we get it out of this hole, we're going to do some high speed runs. Yeah, that works.

06:28I think we're going to need something bigger. All right, hold the brake. It's stuck.

06:51Well, here's the good news. Our Corvette is currently unstuck. Now we can continue our training.

06:59So

07:14that looks so violent. Dude, it was so violent. Dude, what's weird about it is you hit a bump

07:20and it's like the bump is delayed because it just digs through the dirt

07:23and it'll find like a rock or something under the dirt and then it'll bump.

07:29So basically what we figured out here is the Corvette on saw blades does work. The question

07:38is what happens if we try to drive it on a frozen lake? So we're going to go load this bad boy up,

07:43drive all the way to Minnesota, find a frozen lake and drive it on. But before we left for

07:47Minnesota, we decided we needed one more vehicle to take on the ice in case the Corvette didn't

07:51work. So if you guys remember, I have a pristine Subaru WRX and we decided we needed to do some

07:56upgrades to it before we took it to the ice. Guys, here's the deal, right? You may have not

07:59have seen this bad girl for a while, but this is our rally race in Subaru. And currently,

08:05for some dumb reason, we've had to spend like four days, four days to put one handbrake on it

08:11because every brake line on it is completely rusted off the deal, but he's still an awesome

08:15car. So what we're going to do is now that we have a handbrake, I'm going to see if I can do

08:19all wheel drive sliding slides. Before we put it on the trailer, I'm going to cry. All right,

08:25guys, what we're getting ready to find out is whether this handbrake actually works or not,

08:29which I'm not sure it does, but we're going to do our best to find out.

08:46Just so you know, the handbrake is garbage, but here's the good news. It does rip. Dude,

08:52for a Subaru that we've left sitting in a field for two years, this thing gets down.

09:03This handbrake's a goddamn piece of shit. We spent four days putting this stupid handbrake on here

09:10and it is junk. Oh, it's fucking empty. Okay, maybe the handbrake's fine. Maybe it's just

09:14out of brake fluid. Hey, somebody want to get some brake fluid to put in it? Yeah,

09:17that's the thing. I think it's shooting the brake fluid out. Let's check this smoke out.

09:24That's all turbo. It felt like it worked one time and then after that it just kind of...

09:28How does it keep being out of brake fluid? That was the question. Well, you know what it is?

09:33Just not full yet. Just keep putting more in it. It'll be all right. This thing is a sender. I'll

09:38be entirely honest. This Subaru is the best $1,800 Subaru anyone will ever buy. Probably

09:43still has oil in it. Put that back in there. It's definitely leaking from a union or something

09:51there. Okay, I see it. Did you find it? Yeah. We've bled the brakes. We've fixed a brake leak,

09:58bred the brakes. He bred them. I think now we've finally fixed the handbrake,

10:02but there's only one way to find out. Yeah, baby. It works.

10:22I'm a fly mother. Where'd my hat go? I don't know. Where's your hat go? I don't know.

10:29There you go. Just in case you're wondering, the handbrake works fantastic. It was the first time

10:34I actually ever got the car to rotate right. I dumped the clutch. It just took off the other

10:39direction. Oh, it's sick. That's a turbo pull. Oh God. Who put that hole there? I love this car.

10:55This car is so fun. I think it's on fire. Is it on fire? I think it's definitely on fire.

11:02Dude, how'd that corner look? Oh yeah, it looks cool. That is a lot of smoke though. Hold on,

11:06let me look. You know what's wrong with it? Too good of a driver.

11:15That's definitely what's wrong with it. That's a turbo pull. I knew that turbo pull was there.

11:21I was just seeing if you guys noticed it was there. Well guys, now that it's fixed, we can

11:25take it to Minnesota and this is going to work fantastic. After we let it cool off and whatever

11:29is on fire to stop being on fire. Guys, here's where we're at. We are going to Minnesota with

11:43the Corvette on saw blades because we want to drive it on a frozen lake. But while we're there,

11:47we got to thinking, you know what would be cooler than just an all-wheel drive Subaru?

11:50An all-wheel drive Subaru on studded tires. We've drilled 99 holes into these tires. We're going to

11:56take and put bolts through the tires, tighten them down with a bunch of sealant on them and

12:01put air in them and see if they hold air. And then we've made our own studded tires.

12:05All right, we've got all of our bolts. Weston got us like 1,200 something bolts. So now we're just

12:10going to start studding these four tires and there's 99 in each. So this will be a fun time

12:16lapse or something. Oh, dude. Is that a tire? Fully done? It's fully done. There's like 100

12:28in it. That's sick. How much money you having? You know, I've had way worse jobs. At this moment,

12:33I have to remind myself of the worst jobs I have, so I'm not going to be about this one.

12:36Ain't near as bad as that one time Logan had to blow

12:39up that Twinkie. No, it wasn't nearly as bad as that.

12:50We're done. Time. So that is how you drill 400 holes in a combined total of four tires.

12:57Here is our studded tire for the Subaru WRX. We don't think they'll leak because they got a lot

13:02of sealant on them, but just in case that they might leak, if you can't sleep and you're awake

13:06at 2am, you saw that guy saw a boat in half and stick it back together with this stuff.

13:12I saw this boat in half. Seals out water, air, and moisture. Three things we need to keep

13:18in and out. We'll keep the air in, the water out, we'll be good to go.

13:23I really feel like after all this is done, this isn't going to leak.

13:26So we are taking the studded tires to the tire shop to get them mounted and balanced.

13:32We're going to see what the tire guys think about 100 bolts in each tire. So stay tuned.

13:38Think these will hold air? I don't know. We'll give it a try.

13:43I sprayed some Flex Seal in there too. There's what? Flex Seal.

13:47There's 100 bolts in each one of those.

13:49Man, I just don't see no bubbles anyway. Yeah, I'm really impressed.

14:01I'm going to have to do that to my garden tractor. Yeah, I'm happy about that. I thought

14:05they'd be bubbling out around just about every one of them. 45 pounds of pressure,

14:10no bubbles at all. That's really good.

14:15All four tires mounted. Not a single one of them leak air. I don't know how.

14:20But now we're going to go third on the car and then they can head off to Minnesota

14:24and see how they do on the ice.

14:28Weston, I got a question for you. What's your question?

14:31How many out of 400 bolts in a set of tires do you think leaked?

14:36I don't know. Probably 100.

14:38Zero. What?

14:40Seriously? None of them leak?

14:43I feel like this is actually going to be one of the best modifications we've ever done to a car.

14:48They've got 45 pounds of air in them right now.

14:50That's amazing. That one didn't even hold air to begin with.

14:54What we've proved is if you drill 100 holes in your tire, it fixes it from leaking.

14:58I'm so excited about this. I feel like this is going to be so fun.

15:01The problem is right now, guys, is we've left the Subaru set for about two years.

15:06It's really, really hard to start sometimes and it's going to be negative

15:10eight degrees where we're going. So I'm not sure it's actually going to start once we get there.

15:14But we will find out.

15:19Guys, here's what we got right now. We have got a lifted off-road Corvette,

15:23but then all-wheel drive Subaru with stud tires on it.

15:27So we're going to see how good our homemade studded tires are going to work.

15:36But once we've gotten here and gotten out here where the wind's at, the place sucks.

16:16and Craig's out there sliding his three-quarter ton snow plow truck around,

16:20so I feel like we'll be okay.

16:21If you fall through, you're in a bad spot.

16:23How do you think those will do on ice?

16:25They're going to be awesome. What do you put them on? The bat?

16:58and see exactly how our studded tires do on the Subaru, right?

17:05and see how the Corvette goes too.

17:06But let's see how the studs do on the Subaru.

25:27that goes to the back of the van,

25:28which is not that big a deal,

25:30except for one of them runs the fuel pump,

25:31but now the fuel pump doesn't work.

28:51The Corvette did really awesome out on the ice.

28:53And the only thing that was kind of bad about it

28:55is it didn't have studded tires like the WRX.

28:57It didn't have nearly as much traction.

28:58So I spun out a lot, but it was super, super fun to drive.

29:02And here's the thing.

29:03We come here for one reason.

29:05And that is to see what happens if you put saw blades on a car

29:09and you try to drive it on thin ice.

29:11And we are getting ready to answer that.

29:13So we've got saw blades on the trailer.

29:14We've got a jack right there.

29:16We've got wheel spacers.

29:17We're gonna bolt the saw blades on

29:19and then try to drive back out there.

29:21And also I'm gonna go ahead and undo everything on the roof

29:25that way the roof is just sitting here.

29:27So worst case scenario, if it does fall through,

29:29I can just pop the roof out and pop out the top.

35:08As long as you got somebody to give you a push in a plow truck

35:11just to get you up to speed.
