00:00beep beep beep this is your 6 a.m. wake-up call it's 6 o'clock here on a
00:05couch in New York City on this Thursday March 20th 25 are you the school bus I'm
00:10backing up we're backing up to give you the news today by the way the first day
00:15of spring all right good dress appropriately take your sleeves off pro
00:20Hamas activist Mahmoud Khalil due in court today to determine if he should be
00:25deported or sent to New Jersey which could be worse but that's not stopping
00:29sorry about that from encouraging more protests from prison
00:33unbelievable and protecting women's sports the school that allowed Leah
00:38Thomas to compete against female swimmers sees a massive pause and
00:42federal funding plus our doctors over diagnosing our children a leading
00:47neurologist is weighing in all right Fox and friends our one for this first day
00:54of spring starts right now no stopping us
00:59and as you can see right there happening today at the White House
01:02President Trump is expected to sign an executive order aimed at abolishing the
01:07Department of Education so is seen as a major step in the effort to return power
01:12back to the states Lucas Tomlinson is live in Washington with more for us hey
01:16Lucas good morning Ainsley good morning gents first it was Elon Musk with the
01:20chainsaw now President Trump taking a sledgehammer to the Department of
01:24Education figuratively speaking of course that executive order expected to
01:27be signed later today here's Trump's education secretary Linda McMahon no
01:31stranger to the takedown earlier this month on the show on where she would
01:35like to see some of this money go there are various programs that we would look
01:41at scholarship programs we could use voucher systems to go to different
01:45schools I think there's a lot of ways to provide opportunities to children that
01:49are stuck in failing schools no child should be stuck in a failing school now
01:53earlier this week McMahon visited three schools in Florida to learn more about
01:57school choice and here's President Trump last month in the Oval Office when asked
02:01by our own Peter Doocy why he would nominate McMahon to be education
02:05secretary if he wanted to scrap the department Linda I hope you do a great
02:10job and put yourself out of a job and what I want to do is let the states run
02:15schools I believe strongly in school choice but in addition to that I want
02:19the states to run schools now executive order will not be enough to get rid of
02:23the Department of Education which was established in 1979 and Jimmy Carter's
02:27last year in office under article 2 of the Constitution Congress will need to
02:32sign off on abolishing it the measure needs 60 votes to pass the Senate there
02:36are only 53 Republicans the SEC the head of the second largest teachers union
02:41Randy Weingarten said in a terse statement quote see you in court now the
02:45US spends roughly more than any student and in any country in the world and
02:49according to Pew Research last year about two-thirds of Americans see K
02:53through 12 STEM education as average or below average guys I say tell you what
02:58Lucas I think the president loves numbers he could judge the success of
03:03this massive move by the increase in reading scores math scores across the
03:07board he'll put the challenge to the teachers he'll put the challenge to
03:12educators there's no question that's why the president wants to see this money go
03:16back to the states and maybe invest a little bit in classical education indeed
03:20all right Lucas thank you very much you know you wrote a book on that that's
03:25right there's been a move in the Republican Party ever since Ronald
03:29Reagan to try to shutter this particular department and it really did not catch
03:33fire until a bunch of parents were locked down with their kids during COVID
03:37and they realized what was going on in the public schools and that is what what
03:42lit a fire under the Republicans to do this and now Donald Trump has done it
03:46but as as Lucas said it does require an act of Congress to actually shutter it
03:52however what he's going to do with this executive order is limit its authority
03:57and reduce the workforce well when you look at the scores the National
04:00Assessment of Educational Progress scores reveal it is a national crisis
04:04look at that we are down in reading and math and there are 13 high schools in
04:09Baltimore where no student tested proficient in math in 2023 so Congress
04:15would have to sign off on this it would require 60 votes in the Senate and as
04:18you know there are 53 Republicans Lawrence so as I'm glad that you brought
04:22a Baltimore because remember I went out there and did a package I went to the
04:25homeschool parents and talked about some of the stuff that they're the filling
04:28you you can't get a quality education right now within the Baltimore schools
04:32and this is the same for a lot of schools all across the country there's
04:37no competitions and teachers union run the schools and honestly a lot of the
04:42teachers have even left the workforce because they don't like teaching to
04:45test that is not actually helping the kids they're encouraged to pass the
04:50students along even though they know they can't read Linda McMahon who's
04:55gonna be running actually she's running the Department of Education now this is
04:59the flashback of what she said watch I can tell you when I've talked to
05:03teachers who tell me that of every dollar that comes into the classroom
05:07they spend about 47 cents of that dollar complying you know with
05:12regulations I want and the president wants to release teachers to be
05:16innovative in their classrooms let teachers teach let them do what they
05:19like to do there is no one-size-fits-all for education and those teachers that
05:24are in the classroom feeling that energy every day knowing what this group of
05:28kids can do better that group of kids can do better let's let them do what
05:32they do since the Department of Education was established in 1980 we've
05:36spent over a trillion dollars to see our scores continue to go down we are
05:41not doing something right and it's time to change it yeah so it's not that
05:45they're starving education they're just reprogramming it and we're gonna see so
05:48if you're gonna live in a blue state and if you believe that that's gonna be the
05:53best answer for your kids we're gonna see it in the numbers not gonna be an
05:56opinion that's what I love about it what I would love to see the president do is
05:59start a national tour with Linda McMahon and tell teachers we're not telling you
06:04you're doing a bad job we're empowering you to do your job and we understand
06:08you're taking money out of your pocket for school supplies we understand that
06:11you think about those kids all day just not when that bell rings when that bell
06:15rings at three o'clock that you're out did you worry about those kids and what
06:18they're doing at home you know I don't believe that most teachers get paid
06:21enough but I would love for the president to look past the Union and
06:25these numbers and do a national tour to different schools and challenges
06:30remember we interviewed the superintendent of education for the
06:33state of South Carolina and she said this will cut out the red tape right the
06:36bureaucracy all the things we have to comply with and Linda you just heard her
06:40say 47 cents of every dollar goes for this bureaucracy wouldn't it be great if
06:45every state got that entire dollar and they could spend it because almost 50
06:49percent of it is spent on things that regulation things that we can change so
06:53the regulation whoever thought regulation would be an issue when it
06:56comes to homeschooling and it's so outrageous what's happening in Illinois
07:00it's terrible I actually went through this bill these people are out of
07:02control in Illinois so you got these parents that are homeschooling remember
07:06if you look at the national numbers homeschooling has gone up in the country
07:10a lot of parents after kovats always happening and they wanted the power back
07:13so I went through this bill they want the administrator in the home the
07:17parents information the birthday their contact information they also want logs
07:21of the curriculum as well apparently they're going to be wanting samples of
07:25the creative writing as well so you got to submit that to the state also they
07:30want all the health records of the kids who are not even going to be in school
07:33they're just going to be at home so you go over and over and over and it looks
07:37like it's an overreach of the state government well in the state is the
07:41state of Illinois and that is Springfield Illinois yesterday there
07:44were a lot of demonstrators and a lot of parents who are upset with this because
07:48yesterday it passed out a committee it will go to the house in Illinois and
07:54then if it passes there it'll go to the Senate and then could wind up on
07:57governor Pritzker's desk here's the thing you know Donald Trump wants to
08:01send the power back to the states this is what one of the states is doing what
08:05they're doing is they're putting a bunch of requirements on parents if they want
08:08to homeschool their kids a lot of parents have different reasons for doing
08:12it they don't like the requirements that the state is suggesting and in fact
08:17here's some of them yesterday homeschoolers in 2020 upon seeing all
08:23the government overreach so the fact that they are now coming for us again
08:27with government overreach this I feel like it's a it's an attack on parental
08:33rights it's an attack on homeschool rights of course we want to oversee
08:37those subjects for our children and make sure they're getting the core subjects
08:41that the government is concerned about but we're gonna do it probably in
08:44different ways and we want to have that freedom without feeling like a monkey is
08:48on our back and this is the problem I think Ainsley because when you give
08:52power to the states a lot of them are gonna use that power to things that I
08:55find are anti parents and it's gonna cause maybe people to move if you can
08:59but part of the reasons is you'd stuck in two ways okay I look at my public
09:03school and it's not good I can't afford a private school and I don't have school
09:06choice so I'm gonna homeschool my kids but now the regulations become so
09:10oppressive they will decide okay I watched you for two years I'm pulling
09:14your kids out of your home I'll force you into that school so that's the
09:18problem with not having federal oversight if you give in power all the
09:24states some of these liberal states want to control your children you're the
09:27parent it's up to you and Donald Trump says by abolishing the DEO it will
09:32empower every parent he says to send their child to a public a private a
09:36charter or a faith-based school of choice would that be great to get the
09:40money for your child and be able to use that money to go to a private school
09:44because you're still paying taxes if you live in an area where your kids have to
09:47go to private school because the public schools are so bad this will put more
09:51money in your bank account but I need to think about that though you were just
09:54talking about like say you're a faith-based person and you're and you
09:57have a curriculum that is faith centered so now in Illinois you have to turn that
10:03over to say now what if the state says we disagree with this what if you're not
10:07teaching critical race theory and they say look actually we want you to talk
10:11about all this diversity and nonsense equity at home and if not we're pulling
10:17you can and we're pulling you can and what and now they're asking for the
10:20parents also to submit their qualification what if they say to the
10:23parent you're not qualified to teach on this and the senior counsel who
10:27represents this group homeschool legal defense association says the record of
10:31homeschoolers shows that we do well academically socially emotionally so why
10:36are we messing with them that's the question this bill is a solution in
10:39search of a problem it makes you wonder what are they trying to do here what are
10:44they trying to slip into the education one of the things they want to do is if
10:48you homeschool your kids and your kids in after-school activities go and play
10:52with kids over the public school they want to make sure that your kids are
10:55vaccinated so that if your kids have measles you don't give it to an entire
10:59school that RFK later we'll talk about that yeah and snack foods and some other
11:04stuff as well this is the problem though if so what do we want do we want national
11:09standards do we want local standards I think ultimately we want local standards
11:13but this is what can happen when there are some bureaucrats and some
11:18legislators particularly in this state who want to get there you know the
11:21homeschooling programs for the most part I know a lot of homeschooled kids who
11:26turned out fantastic because they got an education from their parents you know
11:31there's the potential in Illinois to screw it up and if parents are so hacked
11:35up right and people might move but then again they might some people can't
11:39they might just not follow the rules they might not follow the rules and then
11:43they can be charged with a fine or with truancy yeah yeah so where it is now it
11:50passed in committee yesterday eight to four now it goes to the statehouse floor
11:55for a vote then it will go to the governor still time to stop this
11:58eventually right that's governor let's go this is the stuff he's gonna run for
12:02president unbelievable this which is you do 12 minutes now after the hour now
12:05think about this the president today I'm going to collapse the Department of
12:08Education that whether you've supported it or not it's big move I was on the
12:12phone yesterday with Zelensky the day before with Vladimir Putin by the way
12:16he's also trying to have a major meeting with energy sources to try to amp what's
12:21going on with our energy production first time in four years people have
12:24gone to the White House from natural gas and oil companies in order to meet to
12:28talk about moving forward all this go leads to one thing this is the president
12:32United States on hyperspeed to accomplish a myriad of things and you
12:36wonder how the American people are receiving some of the things he's doing
12:39at the speed in which he's executing according to this poll there's a lot to
12:43be happy about if you're a Republican yeah what are these poll numbers we go
12:46look at that it says Lawrence that all out of all voters that Fox News polled
12:5149% approve of Donald Trump that matches his high from April of 2020 and the high
12:58marks are among women and black voters and voters under the age of 30 look at
13:03the Republican number 92% of Republicans approve and about 44 and 10
13:08independents here's here's what's going on though take a look at we've got a a
13:13great graphic if you're a Republican in Congress because they are now at an
13:18all-time high now they have Republican congressional members of Congress have
13:24a 43% approval and she can see back in 2013 it was 20% so it has doubled
13:3188% of the one of the reasons is because 88% of Republicans are backing
13:39the Republican Party today as opposed to a couple of years ago when only about
13:44half of Republicans backed the party so that's all good news and when you look
13:48at the party of resistance the Democratic Party only 30% approved right
13:54now and and that's dropping drastically because in January 2023 it was at 42%
14:01and it keeps going down and down when it comes to the disapproval now 66%
14:08disapprove of the job that they're doing and I think what that gets to is that
14:13they become the party of the resistance and they're not working at all they're
14:17not trying to work with the president they did not stand for the kid with
14:20cancer they did not stand for the parents that lost their children to
14:24illegals they're not even turning over the legals to the to the police right
14:28now they're against the flight everything that this president is doing
14:32right now they're not offering any type of solutions and I think the media has
14:37lost their influence completely they lied to him about Joe Biden his mental
14:41decline they lied to them about the issues on a day-to-day base they said
14:44that the inflation was transitory and the people were feeling at home so
14:48they're not listening to them the president is speaking to the American
14:51public on a day-to-day basis and it looks like he has the wind in his sails
14:55right now when you look at it and you should go to foxnews.com and read it
15:00because it's a really interesting thing the one the one thing that people across
15:04the boards about 70 given the fact that he is already signed and we were talking
15:09about abolishing the Department of Education with an executive order later
15:13today he signed about 90 of them about 70% of all Americans Republicans
15:19independents and Democrats are concerned that some of these eos may permanently
15:23alter the system of checks and balances with Donald Trump that is however similar
15:29to what Barack Obama had ratings wise at 38% I believe it was something like that
15:35back in 2014 regarding Obamacare and things like that so it's one of those
15:41things where people are you know approving of the president in bigger
15:45numbers than ever before for Donald Trump but they but there's a caveat you
15:49know they worry don't go too far yeah you're right Lawrence about the legacy
15:54media I mean we if you flipped around channels during the election they
15:58weren't reporting positive news about Donald Trump we saw that censorship on
16:02social media and Laura Ingram said the other night she was flipping around
16:06channels and one news agency didn't even have the astronauts coming home live
16:11American so exactly and that's why some of these big networks are laying off
16:15their anchors that are making a lot of money because it's a business they're
16:18not making money anymore people are turning off their TVs you want to hear
16:22all sides of the story right so they weren't telling the positive stories of
16:26Donald Trump thinking it was going to affect the election but America was
16:29smarter right because they're on the wrong side of so many issues I watched
16:33the mayor of Boston yesterday unbelievable right feel powerful she is
16:37that she sees protecting legal immigrants including criminals she's
16:40doubling down she's like yeah we like our coffee strong and we said what are
16:43you talking about so okay that's how you stand I don't think the American people
16:47want illegal criminals there so now it's really judge fair the only people
16:52standing in the president's way are these judges and their handpicked
16:55liberal judges who are going on party lines they're activists and the
16:59president is not overreacting I got to give him credit I watch him sitting with
17:03Laura Ingram and he's they're talking about all these cases they're not going
17:06his way or on pause yes we're gonna work our way through yeah yeah we're four
17:10years ago it was this and he's never said I'm going to ignore the judge or
17:15the court order they're like begging him to and he's like not going to gonna
17:19work our way through the system because they are three you know we have three
17:23co-equal branches of government and so he just he's gonna let it play out
17:27should a district judge be in control of our foreign policy nope that's
17:31something to think about as I read this story the key witness in the case of a
17:35missing University of Pittsburgh student who vanished while on spring break is
17:39now back in the United States Todd pyro joins us with the latest hey Todd good
17:43morning to all four of you Joshua Reby now back home in Rock Rapids Iowa after
17:48getting a new passport from the US Consulate in the Dominican Republic last
17:51night he checked out of the Punta Cana resort where missing spring-breaker
17:55Sudeeksha Konenki was last seen and his return to the US follows a judge's
18:00ruling for his release from police surveillance since he's a witness and
18:04not a criminal suspect Reby's attorney saying the following quote while Joshua
18:08appreciated this decision he chose for privacy reasons to apply for a new
18:13passport at the US Consulate which was promptly issued we are pleased to
18:17announce that Joshua and his father are currently traveling back to their home
18:21in the United States Reby is believed to be one of the last people to see
18:25Konenki before her disappearance after a nearly two-week search her heartbroken
18:29parents say they believe their daughter drowned and have asked police that she
18:33be declared dead so they can begin mourning her loss as of right now Reby
18:38does have another court hearing scheduled for next week but it's
18:41believed to be a formality and he will not be required to appear in person back
18:46over to you all right time thank you very much all right meanwhile I guess
18:50did you guys have an outfit problem you agree because you look to call you go
18:55did you change like what's going on truth be told we try to wear different
18:59colors so that we're not in the same color right and I was watching Fox and
19:03Friends first and I swore her dress was black so you yell at her I tell softly
19:09no I said she already if she's wearing black I choose a different color she
19:14gets to set the agenda walk she just walked in and it's maroon I was like on
19:18my TV it looked black power in this situation when Ainsley you could always
19:22tell me what you want to wear and then I'll avoid that I I like you having the
19:26power because then it takes one color I it makes the decision easier for me
19:31color coordination where you want my dear is a unique and little-known
19:36Steven Lawrence and I we get in a three-way call at 10 o'clock at night
19:39and we go I'll sue you what about the tie color the same suit and tie has that
19:47ever happened before that's actually we wore wore the same time before right you
19:52and I have the same time exactly and is it a cute little moment between you like
19:56oh my gosh we use the word cute either right adorable all right look great more
20:05outfit chat to come right perfect all right let's get to some news guys
20:09starting with this siren sounding across Tel Aviv overnight as Israel intercepts
20:13a missile launched by the Houthis in Yemen the failed attack by the terror

20:22in yesterday this is in response to Hamas's refusal to release the remaining
20:26hostages the Israeli military is moving into the corridor splitting the Gaza
20:31Strip which means Palestinians will no longer be allowed to enter northern Gaza
20:35from the south two illegal immigrants are on the run in Colorado after
20:40escaping from a detention facility in Aurora but Denver ICE agents say Aurora
20:45police are refusing to help them in their search local officials say there
20:49was a power outage at the facility on Tuesday night which caused the doors to
20:54become unlocked and the two migrants simply walked out ICE says they notified
20:59other state and federal authorities to assist in the manhunt today supporters
21:04of Lyle and Eric Menendez will rally outside the Los Angeles County District
21:08Attorney's Office to call for the brothers release from prison DA Nathan
21:12Hockman has opposed resentencing the brothers but now say he will reconsider
21:18under one condition if they sincerely and unequivocally admit for the first
21:23time in over 30 years the full range of their criminal activity and all the lies
21:28that they have told about it like do you want them to enumerate each individual
21:32lie do you have a checklist I actually do Wow the brothers are currently
21:36serving life without the possibility of parole for murdering their parents in
21:411989 they claim they suffered years of abuse Elon Musk is clapping back after
21:47Minnesota Governor Tim Walz cheered on the decline of Tesla stock price listen
21:51to what the former VP candidate said on Tuesday they've got that little stock
21:56gap I added Tesla to it to give me a little boost during the day 225 and
22:03dropping so if you own one we're not blaming you you can you can take dental
22:09floss and pull the Tesla thing off well Musk responded on that saying quote
22:15sometimes when I need a little boost I just look at JD Vance's portrait in the
22:19White House and thank the Lord according to a list of assets for the Minnesota
22:23State Board of Investments as of June Minnesota held 1.6 million shares of
22:28Tesla in its retirement and pension funds meaning when he wants the stock to
22:33drop that affects residents in his there goes your retirement yeah do you think
22:39he thought this through no I don't think he's trying to be mr. standards comic
22:43the failed food coach it's not just him him and his wife remember his wife said
22:46when the protest was going on does she raise the window so she could smell this
22:52is like a burning tire businesses in their community is that true you can
22:57take it off with a piece of dental floss I hope I hope that I think people should
23:02be proud to run a Tesla but people got to be worried if they have one you know
23:06if you have a kid and they drive a 19 year old driving a car for the first
23:08time yeah you wonder are they gonna be targeted by some some lunatic all right
23:14well a judge is set to decide whether the Trump administration can deport pro
23:19Hamas activist Mahmoud Khalil as he calls for more protests from behind bars
23:23and our doctors over diagnosing our kids and if so why we've got a neurologist
23:30here with an interesting take straight ahead on Fox and Friends this name
23:34Mahmoud Khalil we've been talking a lot about him it's in Louisiana it's taking
23:38place tomorrow over his deportation back to Syria it comes as a judge rules to
23:43move his detainment case to New Jersey but President Trump is still doubling
23:47down on the push to remove what he calls terrorist sympathizers well Khalil
23:53is not exactly an easy one either because it's some judge you know glommed
23:58on to him but the Democrats lost big because of the stupidity of you know
24:02they're back in these 90% negative things from their standpoint people that
24:07hate Israel want to destroy it people that are murderers people that are
24:11horrible yeah about former federal prosecutor Francie Higgs joins us now so
24:16Francie if you could just break this down for me he's going to be at the
24:20hearing in Louisiana but he's going to end up being held possibly in New
24:24Jersey a lot of people are saying are they are they judge shopping well Brian
24:30they're definitely judge shopping or forum shopping because when he was
24:33arrested he was in New York he was moved shortly to New Jersey and then the case
24:39was filed on his behalf in New York but jurisdiction lays where the body is
24:43that's called a habeas corpus petition which literally means to produce the
24:47body they should have filed in New Jersey but by the time they realized he
24:51was no longer in New York he was also no longer in New Jersey he was in
24:54Louisiana where he was being held pending deportation that is where proper
24:59jurisdiction lies those are the only judges that can hear this case and it
25:03looks to me like the Democrat lawyers that are working on his behalf are
25:07trying hard to get judges who they think will be on their side versus following
25:13the law and filing the case where it belongs so he's on a green card do you
25:17believe that do you have you heard any indications except for generalities that
25:22the that the government has a strong case against him well I don't know about
25:28a criminal case yet although it does know a deportation case a deportation
25:32there's a death oh definitely there's a strong deportation case Brian he's a
25:36guest in our country he is not an American citizen he does not have the
25:42same level of rights that we enjoy as American citizens as a guest in this
25:47country you can't agitate on behalf of a designated foreign terrorist
25:52organization which is exactly what he's doing he does not have the right to do
25:56that and remain in this country he can go back to his country and do it but he
26:00can't do it here but you got to prove not Palestinian you got to prove Hamas
26:03and handing out sin wars picture and Nasser Ella's picture will build up that
26:07case he is defiant in prison he writes a letter and he goes on to equate his
26:12situation to protesting Vietnam he says if anything my detention is a testament
26:17a testament to the strength of the student movement in shifting public
26:20opinion towards the Palestinian liberation in the weeks ahead student
26:23advocates and elected officials must unite to defend the right to protest for
26:27Palestine which by the way doesn't exist at stake are not just our voices but our
26:32civil liberties number one he's standing him up he's looking at himself as a
26:36martyr he's talking about how he's changing the public dialogue and at 31
26:40years old having graduate for graduate from graduate school why is he talking
26:44like he's a student well of course he's not a student we do have a strong
26:49history in this country Brian as you know of protest and protest is lawful
26:53under the Constitution but he is not an American citizen he is a guest in this
26:58country the fact that he is acting like he is a martyr to the cause what I can
27:03tell him is the minute he gets deported his name will be forgotten in the dustbin
27:08of history because he is no more than a speck on the great history of this
27:13country and our support for Israel and for causes that are just and the cause
27:19that he is advocating for is anything but so we had two plane but we had a
27:22plane full of 261 TDA members ms-13 members the worst of the worst deported
27:28from our country until El Salvador this judge is relentless wanted to turn the
27:32plane around now wants to know the series of events that happened that
27:36prevented them from turning the plane around and not only do we want to make
27:39sure that they stay in El Salvador we want to start shipping thousands more
27:43there so here's Pam Bondi talking about the questions that the judge wants
27:48answered by noon today you have one unelected federal judge trying to
27:54control foreign policies trying to control the alien enemies act which they
27:59have no business presiding over this has been a pattern with these liberal
28:03judges why is a judge trying to protect terrorists who have invaded our country
28:08over American citizens your thoughts about a district judge again there's
28:15been about 60 of these standing up to Trump's agenda and stopping these
28:19flights well the Attorney General is actually right it's astonishing Brian
28:23that you've got a district court judge who has a Supreme Court precedent in the
28:28Ludecky case from 1948 that clearly says the alien enemies act actions by
28:34the president in proclaiming an alien enemies group and in removing aliens
28:39under it is not reviewable those actions are not reviewable and yet the judge is
28:45not only trying to review them but dig into the rationale behind it and the
28:50facts and circumstances around it it's completely out of bounds when it comes
28:55to judicial jurisdiction he has none but he wants to get Trump like a lot of
29:00these judges yep Francie Higgs thanks so much I'm gonna need you more and more
29:05this all is getting so litigious meanwhile straight ahead on this show
29:08the school that allowed Leah Thomas to join the women's swim team is getting a
29:12wake-up call from the federal government I'll tell you what map we've got a lot of
29:16snow we actually had a blizzard that moved through the upper Midwest and the
29:19Great Lakes not only bringing heavy snow and blowing winds but we had some
29:23tornado reports large hail reports and damaging winds here are some of the wind
29:27gusts close to 90 miles per hour in Iowa hurricane force winds in Nebraska as
29:32well so here is the area of low pressure that we're talking about moving up into
29:35Canada but the associated cold front will push across the northeast and then
29:39we have a secondary low that's going to develop could bring the potential for
29:42some heavy rain strong winds and even some snow for upstate New York in
29:46towards New England so just keep that in mind but you know spring is here we're
29:51getting there we're getting there here's your forecast today we have that
29:53system moving across the East Coast our next weathermaker will move into the
29:57West bringing heavy rain and some mountain snow watching the severe
30:01weather outlook for Sunday this is Sunday okay some of the same areas that
30:05were hit hard by last weekend storm once again we could see the potential for
30:10hail damaging winds and tornadoes from Texas all the way up towards Virginia
30:14and Kentucky and Tennessee we will continue to keep you up to date
30:17foxweather.com for your latest over to you okay thank you Janice of course the
30:21Trump administration pausing 175 million dollars in taxpayer funding to
30:28UPenn over its inclusion of transgender athletes and women's sports just last
30:33year the institution received over 1 billion dollars in federal funding and
30:38it's the same University that sparked controversy back in 2022 when they
30:42allowed biological male Leah Thomas to join their women's team Thomas's former
30:48teammate Margot Kasarowski and her attorney Bill Bach join us this
30:54morning good morning to both of you good morning so Margot you've been fighting
30:59for this and Donald Trump heard your voice and now he said UPenn I'm taking
31:04away or I'm freezing 175 million what was your response to that what was your
31:08reaction yeah I was happy that someone was finally taking making Penn take
31:14accountability for their actions federal funding is tied directly to title nine
31:18and you don't get one without the other bill we have a statement from UPenn and
31:22they said we are aware of media reports suggesting a suspension of 170 million
31:28dollars in federal funding to Penn but have not yet received any official
31:31notification or any details it is important to note however that Penn has
31:36always followed NCAA and Ivy League policies regarding student participation
31:40on athletic teams what is your response to that because it sounds like they're
31:45saying we're just following the rules of the NCAA well they were following the
31:50rules of the NCAA but it happened in their locker rooms it happened in their
31:55pool and and what happened these young women they're accountable for because
32:00they received those federal funds but there is no question that this was an
32:05organized effort by the NCAA by the Ivy League by UPenn Harvard University other
32:11Ivy League universities to kind of perpetrate this this activity which
32:18stripped women of their rights to compete on a level playing field now
32:23when it comes to the NCAA did they tell the schools you can do whatever you want
32:27these are you know this is our recommendation is it UPenn's fault or is it
32:31the NCAA well the the NCAA is scrambling right now and and since we've
32:38sued them they've said it's up to the schools before that they told the
32:42schools and they needed to comply but there the key point is title nine when
32:48you get federal funds it requires accountability and there were adults in
32:53the room there were adults that should have been protecting these young ladies
32:57like Margo and Grace and Ellen her teammates were also plaintiffs in this
33:03case and nobody stood up for these young women yeah well this is one of the
33:07reasons that Donald Trump won the election so Margo how did it affect you
33:12swimming with with Leah Thomas and what is what was Leah Thomas's reaction to
33:17the team when all of this was going down yeah I was in complete shock I remember
33:22feeling like I had nowhere to turn because all the adults in the room knew
33:26how we felt about it and they chose to do nothing and I never grew up believing
33:31that my rights would be thrown to the wayside for a male I thought the title
33:369 was clear and provide clear guidelines that women deserve fairness and equal
33:41opportunities and now they're paying the price for that and I don't think that we
33:46can you know go forward knowing that you know federal funds are tied to title 9
33:54and so we need to make sure that no other universities put their women's and
33:58girls through this thank you both so much for coming on this morning Ainsley
34:03thank you very much for the opportunity you're welcome yes go ahead if people
34:08want to find out more about the the issue and about the fight that Margo is
34:14fighting they can go to icons women calm I see on s women calm okay thank you so
34:22much it's 44 minutes after the hour chronic medical conditions are on the
34:27rise but some doctors say that's not because we're getting sicker one of them
34:31is here to explain and this picture of Brian Koberger the man accused of
34:35killing four college students is making headlines now and we'll tell you why
