00:00Amid the tense U.S.-Canada trade relations, there have been reports

00:04circulating about the future of NORAD. There is speculation U.S. President

00:08Trump is re-examining the military alliance his country has with Canada.

00:12Some American media are reporting that Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick told a

00:17Canadian official that Trump is reconsidering military cooperation with

00:22Canada and that includes the North American Aerospace Command or NORAD for

00:26short. The bi-national organization is charged with missions of Aerospace

00:31Warning Control and Maritime Warning for all of North America. North Bay is one of

00:36two Canadian cities where NORAD is headquartered but the mayor dismissed

00:40those concerns. I believe that it's something that is a continued

00:46investment that we will see support from our Canadian government, we'll see

00:50support from the American government and we'll see from all of our NATO partners

00:54and NORAD partners. Media reports indicate the U.S. Secretary of State has

00:59tried to assure Canada that it's not ending the alliance.
