Why was Thor crying over Deadpool?

One of the most curious moments in Deadpool & Wolverine was the footage that showed Thor crying for Wade Wilson. As seen in the new MCU film, Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool has the chance to join Earth-616 and the Sacred Timeline, an opportunity for him to become a hero among heroes like the Avengers. However, there is never a moment when Deadpool and Marvel's God of Thunder actually meet.

When the TVA catches Wade Wilson at the beginning of Deadpool & Wolverine, Mister Paradox offers Deadpool the chance to leave his universe behind to join the MCU's main timeline as a bona fide hero. However, the original Deadpool universe was marked for deletion following the loss of Wolverine, its "anchor being." Refusing the offer to try and save his loved ones, Deadpool defies the TVA, though not before seeing footage detailing an important moment between him and Thor, a scene that could be teasing the MCU's exciting future.

Being shown several sequences from previous MCU films by the Time Variance Authority, Wade is initially very excited about the prospect of being an Avenger, especially after the revelation that he interviewed Happy Hogan (the first of many cameos from Deadpool and Wolverine) and was rejected in 2018. However, Deadpool then sees footage of himself being held in the arms of none other than Thor, mirroring Loki's fake death in 2013's Thor: The Dark World. Struggling to turn off the video feed on the monitor , Mister Paradox confirms that this scene is actually a moment set in the future that hasn't happened yet

While this could have simply been a funny gag moment using this recycled footage from Dark World, the fact that it is confirmed as a future event is intriguing. Likewise, it's not something Deadpool is willing to give up, as he repeatedly questions Paradox about the moment, such as why the God of Thunder was crying over him. Wade even wakes up later in the film saying Thor's name, a recurring joke that may be signaling more than Wade simply having a crush on the Asgardian Avenger.

Thor crying over Deadpool could be the setting for Secret Wars
Based on what is known about Marvel's future release plans, the current Multiverse Saga is confirmed to culminate with the upcoming Avengers 5 in 2026 and 2027's Avengers: Secret Wars as the final film that is expected to end the multiverse in epic fashion. . As such, multiple variant heroes and different realities are also expected to collide. As such, the upcoming Avengers films will likely be the perfect films for Deadpool to return and perhaps join forces with the Avengers, particularly Thor.
