Did you know that in Avengers: Infinity War?, the creators had to establish some rules to make Thanos fair during the battles? He had a small list of physical rules he needed to follow. One of those rules was that Thanos had to close his hand to use the power of the Infinity Stones, and this was the minimum required to allow the fight to happen. They also thought it was important to remind the viewers of the power of each Stone, so they wrote the script in a way that he used each Stone as he obtained them. They also did this with several heroes, like Doctor Strange and Thor, for example.
