00:06 What's the ICT sector doing to accelerate the digital and green transition,
00:10 especially among small and medium-sized enterprises that are the backbone of Europe's economy?
00:16 That's what's happening here at Huawei Connect 2023, here at the Paris Expo.
00:21 Let's go in and have a look.
00:23 [MUSIC]
00:28 The theme this year, accelerate the green and digital transition together,
00:32 bringing together a wide range of exhibits, partner companies and business leaders
00:37 talking about the latest innovations in the drive toward a climate-neutral economy.
00:42 That includes renewables like solar power.
00:44 After his keynote talk, we grabbed Dries Acke, Policy Director, Solar Power Europe, to find out more.
00:50 Solar energy in Europe has really been a success story.
00:53 We're hitting records every year since 2018.
00:56 Last year was special. We added more than 40 gigawatts to the grid, 50% increase from the year before.
01:02 It's because of our success that we're starting to really hit some limits
01:06 when it comes to system integration, grids, storage, batteries.
01:11 How to solve those bottlenecks? Check out some of the solutions here.
01:16 The system needs to adapt to solar, and that's where companies like Huawei and many others come in.
01:20 They develop batteries, they develop inverters.
01:25 Beyond Energy is a wide range of other solutions for companies large and small,
01:30 as I walk among the stands and displays with Kenneth Friedrichsen, Senior Vice President of Huawei Europe.
01:36 You have the retail, you have education, you have transportation.
01:40 There's a number of different verticals where we have scenario-specific applications showcased.
01:46 And then we also try to get together the ecosystem in order to help SMEs
01:50 to actually realize their ideas through our technologies and make it a successful business case.
01:56 One of those deals with how to make your factory operations more efficient
02:03 and avoid accidents with AGVs, or automated guided vehicles.
02:07 You've got big factories like this one, but you also have small factories.
02:12 How do you help solve what we see are these pain points, these problems that could arise?
02:17 With the old Wi-Fi 5, the AGV is really easy to lose traffic because of the conflict environment.
02:24 However, Huawei has found a solution to solve this issue.
02:28 Because on the AGV, we have the net adapter, it can connect with two APs at the same time.
02:34 It can make sure there is always a backup to solve the issue.
02:37 It can make the AGVs more smoothly, and there are no traffic jams in the future.

02:47 In retail, here's a digital transition.
02:50 A smart shopping cart you log into with your phone or QR code.
02:54 And we start, I scan the QR code, I scan one and I put two.
03:01 What happened?
03:02 Yeah.
03:03 Okay, that comes from with two.
03:05 It already calculated two.
03:06 Yeah.
03:07 And when we're shopping with our child, what happens?
03:10 They always want to play with us.
03:12 They forget to scan the QR code.
03:14 Yeah.
03:15 And I put it.
03:16 Oops, it says unexpected item.
03:18 [Music]
03:20 Labeling is connected, updated with ease and flashing to help you find the product.
03:25 Digital for a mega supermarket or a mom and pop shop.
03:28 [Music]
03:33 I stop to get a picture of my avatar posing with another one.
03:37 Not bad, huh? He's cuter than me. Thank you.
03:41 [Music]
03:45 And then it's off to Innovation Day events to moderate a talk on SMEs in the green and digital transition.
03:51 How do you persuade that one-third of the SMEs across Europe to go digital?
03:56 Analyzing my business, what I need first, and when is the return of investment, what we heard.
04:03 This is the two essential points.
04:05 When you partner with a big organization like ours, we're active in 170 countries all over the world,
04:11 so we have a very wide network of our clients and our partners that we work with.
04:17 And there's a panel on women entrepreneurs supporting the talent ecosystem.
04:21 Christina Angelillo was among them.
04:23 She's head of InnoVap, and she co-founded an animation company called Marshmallow Games.
04:29 Marshmallow Games is a company that was born nine years ago,
04:32 and we create educational mobile apps for kids.
04:35 How does a show like this, a trade show like this, help Marshmallow Games?
04:41 This type of show is very important because a company like Marshmallow Games,
04:46 even if it's a fully digital company, needs new, inspiring things.
04:52 Inspiration that comes with innovation.
