00:00Crowds of people protesting against Elon Musk's purge of the U.S. government under President
00:05Donald Trump gathered outside Tesla dealerships throughout the country.
00:10Protesters are trying to escalate a movement targeting the electric car maker in an attempt
00:14to dent the fortunes of the Tesla boss.
00:17They're opposing Musk's role as head of the newly created Department of Government Efficiency,
00:21commonly known as DOGE.
00:24DOGE has gained access to sensitive data, including Social Security information, as
00:28it looks to slash what it calls unnecessary government spending.
00:32Musk says he aims to cut $2 trillion, which represents around 30 percent of the total
00:37federal government expenditure.
00:40His extreme cost-cutting objectives saw him shutter entire government agencies like USAID,
00:46making thousands of federal employees redundant in the process.
00:50Most of Musk's estimated $340 billion net worth consists of the stock he holds in Tesla,
00:56but also include other ventures like SpaceX and Starlink.
01:00Protesters say they'll continue targeting the world's richest man's finances in hopes
01:04of forcing him to reverse his extreme approach.
01:08A state of emergency was declared in the eastern Ulumuk region in the Czech Republic due to
01:15toxic benzene contaminating a lake after a train derailment last month.
01:20On the 28th of February, a freight train crashed at the entrance of Ustapec station, likely
01:25because of high speed.
01:26Most of the 17 carriages immediately caught fire after the accident.
01:31Some 350 tons of benzene leaked from the tankers carrying over 1,000 tons into the groundwater.
01:37The emergency order grants local authorities special powers to allocate resources and immediately
01:42initiate relief efforts.
01:45Work is already underway to extract benzene from the affected water bodies.
01:49Dozens of remediation pits between railroad tracks and the water are being dug, and Larson
01:54walls are being installed to prevent further spread.
01:58Damages by the tanker fire are expected to exceed the 40 million euro mark.
02:02The emergency stay is set to remain in effect until the 27th of April to mitigate the crisis.
02:10I have a message for our American friends.
02:13Denmark's foreign minister has scolded the Trump administration for its tone in criticizing
02:17Denmark and Greenland, saying his country is investing more in Arctic security.
02:23Vance Luger Rasmussen made the remarks in a video posted to social media after a visit
02:27to Greenland on Friday by U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance.
02:32Rasmussen said Denmark is open to criticism, but added he didn't appreciate the tone.
02:37He also pointed out that in January, Denmark had committed to a 1.9 billion euro investment
02:43for Arctic security.
02:45During his visit to the Pitefix space base, Vance accused Denmark of underinvestment in
02:50Greenland security.
02:52Trump's repeated threats to annex Greenland have been met with anger both on the island
02:56and in Denmark.
02:58On Saturday, hundreds of protesters demonstrated outside the U.S. embassy in Copenhagen, with
03:03some holding signs saying Greenland is not for sale.
03:11Italy approves a new decree to use Albanian migration centers as repatriation hubs.
03:18Under the new decree, two centers in Albania will now also house migrants who arrived in
03:24Italy had their asylum request rejected and received a deportation order.
03:30The Albanian centers have barely been used since opening in October because of legal
03:36issues and strong opposition from human rights groups who say they break international laws
03:41and endanger migrants' rights.
03:45The centers were originally intended for processing non-vulnerable migrants rescued in international
03:51waters.
03:53The project, led by Prime Minister Giorgio Meloni's conservative government, has cost
03:58nearly 800 million euros over a five-year investment.
04:11A partial solar eclipse was visible across Europe on Saturday, as well as western Africa,
04:17eastern North America and northern Asia.
04:22In London, spectators watched from the Royal Observatory in Greenwich.
04:27During a partial solar eclipse, the moon passes between the sun and Earth.
04:32The moon casts a shadow on Earth and only partly blocks the sun, making it appear like
04:37a crescent.
04:40Solar and lunar eclipses happen anywhere from four to seven times a year, according to NASA.
