Thousands flee Gaza's Rafah after Israel issues new evacuation orders

UNRWA chief Philippe Lazzarini said 140,000 people are impacted by the Israeli military's latest displacement orders, which indicate it could soon launch another major ground operation in Gaza's southernmost city.

00:00Thousands of Palestinians fled Gaza's southernmost city of Rafa on Monday, after Israel issued
00:09new sweeping evacuation orders covering most of the city and nearby areas.
00:15The chief of UNRWA, the UN agency helping Palestinian refugees, said that roughly 140,000
00:21people are impacted by the orders, which indicate the Israeli military could soon launch another
00:26major ground operation there.
00:29Meanwhile, the Israeli military continued its ongoing ground operation in the north
00:33of Gaza, and claimed it killed 50 Hamas militants there.
00:38Israel ended a ceasefire with Hamas, renewing its air and ground war earlier this month.
00:44It also cut off all supplies of food, fuel, medicine and humanitarian aid to the enclave.
00:51The Israeli military refused to withdraw its troops from the Rafa border crossing, as agreed
00:55in the ceasefire deal signed in January, and is instead proposing an alternate deal
01:00for another temporary ceasefire.
01:03Hamas has insisted on implementing the signed agreement, calling for a lasting ceasefire
01:08and an Israeli pullout in exchange for the release of the remaining hostages.
