00:00The White House has confirmed that President Donald Trump's new tariffs will take effect
00:06immediately after the announcement on Wednesday night.
00:10The new tariffs aim to boost US manufacturing and punish other countries for what Trump
00:15calls years of unfair trade practices.
00:18As Europe awaits for clarity on what exactly these tariffs will affect, UK Prime Minister
00:24Keir Starmer has said a trade war is in nobody's interest.
00:29Mr Speaker, we've been preparing for all eventualities ahead of the confirmation of US tariffs later
00:34today. Let me be clear with the House, a trade war is in nobody's interest and the country
00:43deserves and we will take a calm, pragmatic approach.
00:48By most economists' assessments, Trump's risky move threatens to plunge the economy into
00:54a downturn and damage decades of old alliances.
00:58Trump recently also announced 25% taxes on auto imports as well as levies against China,
01:06Canada and Mexico, while also expanding tariffs on steel and aluminium.
01:16Marine Le Pen's hopes of becoming France's next president may still be alive after a
01:21court of appeals in Paris said it will issue a decision on her case by the summer of 2026.
01:28If the deadline is met, this would mean that a final decision could be handed down several
01:35months before the 2027 presidential election.
01:39So under what circumstances could Le Pen still run for president?
01:51So that the ineligibility does not run until the presidential election in 2027.
01:56There is a third scenario, that of presidential grace.
01:59But we must remember that the President of the Republic can only be gracious for a definitive
02:04conviction.
02:05We can only exercise this right of grace if Marine Le Pen has finished exhausting the
02:11ways of recourse.
02:13While she awaits a second trial and despite her conviction, Marine Le Pen keeps her seat
02:19as a Member of Parliament in the National Assembly.
02:22But in the event of a dissolution, she will not be able to stand for re-election.
02:27Monday's conviction for embezzlement of EU Parliament funds still spells trouble for
02:33her party, according to certain experts.
02:49Plan B, like for Jordan Bardella, the leader of the National Rally Party and Le Pen's protégé,
03:02could replace her as a candidate in the 2027 election.
03:07But at only 29 years old, he could be seen as relatively inexperienced, only having served
03:14as a Member of the European Parliament.
03:17While waiting for the courts to rule again, the National Rally has already launched its
03:22counter-attack.
03:23It boasts 10,000 additional party members and 300,000 signatories for its support petition
03:30since Marine Le Pen's conviction on Monday.
03:38For the first time ever, the leaders of the EU and Central Asia sit down together in the
03:43historic city of Samarkand, Uzbekistan, to agree on a strategic partnership.
03:48The summit has great geopolitical significance.
03:52Three years into Moscow's war against Ukraine, the two regions are willing to open a new chapter.
04:00A week ago, EU High Representative Kaya Kallas prepared the summit in Turkmenistan.
04:06Distinguished High Representative,
04:09integrated cooperation between Central Asia and the European Union is one of the most
04:14important strategic vectors of development in Eurasia.
04:20Central Asia consists of five former Soviet republics – Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan,
04:27Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
04:29Its population and economy are rapidly growing.
04:36It will be an important milestone in our relationship and we attach great importance
04:43to the success of this summit.
04:48According to diplomats, the EU is willing to address the circumvention of sanctions
04:53against Russia, import natural gas and invest in the mining of raw materials in the region.
05:00Rare earth, what you need for electronics, also for defense equipment.
05:05And Europeans are looking for other places where they can get those raw materials.
05:13Definitely also a main issue is energy.
05:18We have cut mainly our import from Russia when it comes to oil and gas.
05:25So there's always the idea of, well, where can we get gas and oil from other places?
05:30And Turkmenistan, as an example, is one of the big gas providers.
05:34The EU is also willing to help the Central Asian region to decrease its dependence on Russia and China.
05:41That infrastructure is of the essence.
05:45And China is doing the Belt and Road Initiative in the area, expanding its grip on Central Asia,
05:53while the Europeans are trying also to offer alternatives to the Chinese Belt and Road Initiatives
06:02and investing in infrastructure as well in the area.
06:06The expert says Europeans expect to work a fine line on human rights in the region
06:12and will raise the migration issue connected to Afghanistan.
06:23More and more families in Spain are getting bunkers.
06:26Since the war in Ukraine started, the demand has shot up by 200%.
06:32This is also happening across Europe.
06:34These high-security bunkers even contain nuclear radiation showers.
06:39Behind its reinforced walls and armored doors lies a secure refuge, designed to protect during times of war.
06:48It's like an apartment, but with a high level of security.
06:54You can live inside a bunker for months.
06:56For example, this bunker has 1,000 litres of drinking water,
07:01and several electricity backup systems.
07:04Many people are now training to know how to act in the case of war.
07:08Lieutenant-Colonel Manolo Camara teaches civilians who want to sharpen their skills.
07:14He travels across Spain, giving courses and talks,
07:17always carrying his survival book because he believes in being prepared.
07:34The European Union has urged citizens to have a survival backpack,
07:38but it's not just about having it, it's about knowing how to use it.
07:44A survival backpack is what doesn't weigh and doesn't take up space.
07:47It's knowledge.
07:48We need to have a family plan to know what each member of the family has to do.
07:54A small warehouse with water, food, flashlights, radio batteries, a thermal blanket.
08:02Most people can't afford a bunker,
08:05so some create small safe spaces at home and stockpile supplies.
08:10Having water reserves or non-perishable food is key in these cases.
08:15We live in a world where China's geopolitics affects us the next day,
08:20and the same goes for Russia and Morocco.
08:23People are becoming more aware of the international problems that affect us.
08:30So it's always good to have several days of self-sufficiency at home.
08:36The increase in the number of bunkers built is a fact throughout the European Union,
08:40and not just here in Spain.
08:42Other countries like Germany and France are leading the rankings.
08:45Baltic countries and those closer to Russia are also leading the rankings.
08:50In Barcelona, Roberto Macedonio, Euronews.
08:56Walt Kilmer, the brooding and versatile actor known for iconic roles in films like Top Gun,
09:01Batman Forever and The Doors, has died at the age of 65.
09:05His daughter, Mercedes Kilmer, confirmed he passed away Tuesday night in Los Angeles,
09:10surrounded by family and friends.
09:12The cause was pneumonia following a years-long battle with throat cancer that required two trachotomies.
09:18Kilmer's career spanned decades, marked by both triumphs and challenges.
09:22He rose to fame as Iceman in 1986's Top Gun,
09:26and later donned the cape as Batman in Batman Forever.
09:29What is it about the wrong kind of man?
09:31It's the car, right? Chicks love the car.
09:34His portrayal of Jim Morrison in The Doors showcased his dedication,
09:37immersing himself so deeply into the role that he lived the character on set.
09:44A Juilliard-trained actor, Kilmer starred in critically acclaimed films like Tombstone,
09:49where he played Doc Holliday and Michael Mann's Heat,
09:52alongside Al Pacino and Robert De Niro.
09:55In his later years, Kilmer reflected on his life with gratitude.
09:58I have no regrets, he said in 2021.
10:05Wicked, the musical known worldwide,
10:07which experienced a resurgence in popularity thanks to the new film,
10:10will make its debut in Poland.
10:12The so-called non-replica version follows the original libretto,
10:16but has adapted the set design, choreography and costumes.
10:20This version in New York and Broadway is 22 years old.
10:25We wanted to make a modern musical,
10:28taking place today, now and here in Poland,
10:32in this country and relating to our Polish realities.
10:40The elven woman rises to the top,
10:42escapes from those who want to kill her,
10:45to murder the inhabitants of the Ozy Valley.
10:49And this song is probably the biggest musical hit.
10:55The second one!
10:59The witch is on the stage!
11:05About 600 people applied for the casting
11:08and 44 were selected.
11:10The final lineup was accepted by the original author
11:13of the music and lyrics, Stephen Schwartz.
11:15When I got to know the music for this play,
11:18when I saw the film, I fell in love.
11:21This is the most difficult role I have ever played.
11:26Vocally, actor-wise and conditioning-wise,
11:29it is an incredible challenge.
