Protesters rebel against Elon Musk's US government purge during Tesla Takedown

Saturday's action marked the first attempt to surround all 277 Tesla showrooms and service centres in the US in the hopes of deepening a recent decline in the company's sales.

00:00Crowds of people protesting against Elon Musk's purge of the U.S. government under President
00:05Donald Trump gathered outside Tesla dealerships throughout the country.
00:10Protesters are trying to escalate a movement targeting the electric car maker in an attempt
00:14to dent the fortunes of the Tesla boss.
00:17They're opposing Musk's role as head of the newly created Department of Government Efficiency,
00:21commonly known as DOGE.
00:24DOGE has gained access to sensitive data, including Social Security information, as
00:28it looks to slash what it calls unnecessary government spending.
00:32Musk says he aims to cut $2 trillion, which represents around 30 percent of the total
00:37federal government expenditure.
00:40His extreme cost-cutting objectives saw him shutter entire government agencies like USAID,
00:46making thousands of federal employees redundant in the process.
00:50Most of Musk's estimated $340 billion net worth consists of the stock he holds in Tesla,
00:56but also include other ventures like SpaceX and Starlink.
