We take a look at a brand new Sensory packed childrens Play cafe that has opened in Wem, Betsy's Little Woodland.
Transcript
00:00Here at Betsy's Little Woodland in Wem and you are the queen of the wood.
00:04Tess, how are you? I'm alright, thank you.
00:07It's a brand new business. It is, yeah. So what is it? What have we got here?
00:12So I've always been extremely passionate about sensory play and I wanted to bring that to life
00:18here. There are lots of interactive things, textured walls, different scents, lots and lots
00:26of things for children to explore. I've always enjoyed the benefits of sensory play, not just
00:31for children but for adults as well. It's hugely beneficial. So we have worked really hard to put
00:38this together on the woodland scene, but we also have a sensory room as well.
00:43The sensory room's great, isn't it? I could happily spend an hour in there just chilling out.
00:47Yeah, it's great for the end of the day, but a few times I've been five minutes in there just to decompress.
00:53Definitely. And what about opening times then? When are you open, Tess?
00:57So we have two sessions during the week. It's 9.30 till 12 and 12.30 till 3 and we are open Tuesday to Sunday.
01:05Awesome work. And it must have took a lot of work. Like I said, there's loads of little intricate
01:10little bits all over the place, isn't there?
01:12Yes, about four days in the entrance, I think, individually sticking on these flowers. But worth it
01:18at the end. I'm really pleased with the outcome.
01:20Great. Well, the kids are loving it and that says it all, doesn't it? So well done, Tess,
01:24and we wish you all the best with the venture.
01:25Thank you very much. I appreciate it.
01:27Hello, I'm Daniel Carey, Mayor of WEM. Delighted to be here today for the opening of this wonderful
01:32new facility for the residents of WEM and in particularly the smaller ones.
01:35Yeah, they're loving it, aren't they? Absolutely loving it. And does it fill a gap then that was
01:40needed in WEM?
01:41Oh, yes. So something like this here at the moment at all.
01:44Yeah.
01:44I mean, there are nursery facilities, but this is far more of a niche.
01:49And if people want to find it, it's above the library. That's the easiest way of saying
01:53it, isn't it? Yes, yes. In the main car park above the library,
01:55you can't miss.
01:56That's it. Entrance door just round the side.
01:59Yeah.
01:59Why didn't they have stuff like this when we were kids?
02:02You know, yes.
02:03It wasn't, was that?
02:04No, it was climbing up a tree and falling out of it. That was fairly sensory.
02:08Yeah, yeah. Cool. So you're here today just to kind of welcome the new business to the town.
02:13Yes, always pleased to see a new business coming to WEM.
02:16Good stuff. Great stuff. Well, we'll let you have a go on the slide.
02:18Woo! Look at that. Is that fun in here? What do you think of it? You having fun?
02:28Yes.
02:29Yeah?
02:29Stop!
02:32Wait, do you want to have this?
02:35Oh, look.
02:36What's that?
02:38Woo!
02:40It's a stop.
02:41What's this?
02:43Here it is!
02:44What's this?
02:48Wow!
02:51What?
02:51I don't know who this is!
02:58Are you having fun up there, lads?
03:00Yes.
03:01Are you having a good time up there?
03:02Yeah.
03:03Yeah? What's your favourite bit, then?
03:05Is it the fast slide?
03:07No.
03:07What are we calling this? It's the treehouse?
03:10Yeah, are you going to give it a name? Come up with a name. Go on, what should we call it?
03:17Head Bar. What's that? Head Bar.
03:21Head Bar. I'm making it Head Bar Strawberry.
03:27That's a good name to be out there, I'll go with that.
