Transcript
00:00Here in Wellington and introduce yourself madam. I'm Emma and I'm from Park Street Kitchen.
00:07What's Park Street Kitchen all about then? She looks very cool so tell us a bit more.
00:12So Park Street Kitchen is a modern Caribbean food establishment here in Wellington. We offer
00:19all the traditional dishes and then we put a bit of a spin on some of the street food style
00:26Caribbean dishes as well. And you're celebrating four years? That's right yes we've been four years
00:33here in Wellington really enjoying every moment of it. And over the four years is there any
00:40particular dishes that the good folk of Wellington are kind of you know going for? 100% it's the
00:46curry goat. Is it? The biggest seller in here for us is curry goat. The jerk chicken is very popular
00:54as well. And I'd probably say the next one up would be the jerk loaded fries. So you have
01:00your events once a month on the Fridays. First Friday of the month that's right isn't it? Yes
01:06that's right. So the first Friday of every month in the evenings we kind of like flip the scripts
01:13on this venue and turn it into a little bit of a bar stroke music space. And then we've
01:19had local artists come in and they've been able to bring whatever kind of music it is to the table
01:26showcase themselves and share with people. Yeah this is some of the events that we have on our Friday night live.
01:33That's great. Flip us to one of the others. You've got a couple on there aren't you? Yeah. What a cool thing to be happening. Go for it.
01:48So this is once a month? This is once a month the first Friday of every month.
01:55Telford talent in the house. What about just regularly opening hours then? So our usual
02:06open hours are every day apart from Monday. We do Tuesdays at 11 till 7. Wednesdays at 11 till 4. Thursdays at 11 till 7. Fridays and Saturdays we're open until 8 o'clock in the evening.
02:21And then we do a Sunday brunch as well. So when do you get to chill? Never. I was going to say. You need those once a month Fridays just because that's the only time you get to a point you let your head out.
02:32It really is. I mean this is the life of someone that's a business owner unfortunately. Well let's just delve a little bit more into you then. So you were from Telford originally.
02:44Yes. And then you did the Moonlight Flip to London. I did indeed.
02:48And what were you doing down London? So in London I was an art director at a children's book publishing company and I was working in marketing, graphic design, something completely different for 20 years.
03:00And then yeah. And then yeah. And you just thought Shropshire beckons. It's pulling me back. It does. We always come back in the end. I miss the countryside and the work-life balance.
03:15So when you, so art director, that explains why this place looks great. Then this is all your creation, yeah?
03:21Yeah. So, well, yeah, thank you. But yeah, I'd like to think that one of the benefits of being someone from the creative industries is we're going to have to put my own stamp and brand in the shop.
03:35It's quite a, it's quite a cool little spot, isn't it? You know, it's a nice old historical building and you know what I mean?
03:40Yeah. And I think that's why people like coming here as well. I mean, obviously the food kind of speaks for itself, but you know, we've created something that's got a slightly different feel to it.
03:49Yeah. And it's probably got like a little bit of a city feel and we attract all types of customers and they like the setting. It's where they like to come.
03:59Well, you've created something pretty special and we wish you all the best going forward. Thank you, Emma.
04:04Thank you very much.
