Punjab Kings defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 8 wickets in IPL 2025 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow on April 1. Punjab Kings won the toss and opted to bowl first. In a slightly tricky wicket, Lucknow Super Giants lost their in-form batter Mitchell Marsh quickly to Arshdeep Singh (3/43). Aiden Markram (28) staged a short comeback but no sooner he was cleaned up by Lockie Ferguson (1/26) and captain Rishabh Pant also departed cheaply. Nicholas Pooran (44) and Ayush Badoni (41) stitched a partnership. As Pooran was accelerating, he perished trying to take on Yuzvendra Chahal (1/36). Badoni kept grinding at one end and with explosive Abdul Samad (27) on the other end, Lucknow Super Giants got to 171/7. Chasing it, Punjab Kings got off to a flying start given by Prabhsimran Singh (69) and later Shreyas Iyer (52*) and Nehal Wadhera (43*) joined hands to take them over the finishing line in just 16.2 overs. This is the second consecutive victory for Punjab Kings in IPL 2025.
