Mumbai Indians defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by eight wickets in IPL 2025 at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on March 31. Batting first, Kolkata Knight Riders suffered a collapse and got bowled out for only 116. Trent Boult (1/23) cleaned up Sunil Narine in the first over. Deepak Chahar (2/19) doubled it up by dismissing Quinton de Kock in the next. When it seemed Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Ajinkya Rahane would stitch a partnership, debutant Ashwani Kumar (4/24) came to the attack and wreaked havoc. He dismissed Ajinkya Rahane (11) with his first ball in the IPL and went on to pick up the wickets of Rinku Singh (17), Manish Pandey (19) and also Andre Russell (5). Ramandeep Singh (22) tried hard to help KKR post a fighting score but was the last wicket to fall with Mitchell Santner dismissing him. With only 117 to chase, Mumbai Indians got past the finish line in 12.5 overs with Ryan Rickelton smashing an unbeaten 62 runs off 41 balls. Suryakumar Yadav also scored a quickfire 27* off just nine deliveries. For KKR, Andre Russell was the best bowler with two wickets (2/35).
