00:00Serbia launched the first main hearing of the trial of four Croatian Air Force pilots
00:06accused of committing war crimes in August 1995.
00:11The pilots are accused of firing rockets from fighter jets at columns of Serb refugees on
00:15Petrovac Road during Croatia's war of independence.
00:20The campaign, in collaboration with the V Corps of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia
00:24and Herzegovina, was titled Operation Storm.
00:28Thirteen people were killed over the two-day campaign, with six of the victims being children
00:33under the age of 13.
00:36Two dozen others were injured as Soviet-era MiG-21 fighter jets shelled the refugee convoys.
00:43The accused pilots will be tried in absentia as they've been unavailable to Serbian judicial
00:47authorities since the beginning of the investigation in 2021.
00:52The trial will take place in the War Crimes Department of the High Court in the Serbian
00:55capital Belgrade.
