00:00French President Emmanuel Macron announced plans to send reassurance forces from European
00:08countries to Ukraine in the event of a peace treaty with Russia.
00:13These forces would act as a deterrent against Russian aggression and help guarantee long-term
00:18security.
00:19His comments came as the coalition of the willing gathered in Paris to discuss strengthening
00:24Ukraine's hand as it pushes for a ceasefire with Russia.
00:55Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky praised the coalition of the willing for their support
01:01and efforts to secure a ceasefire.
01:18The meeting came amid intensifying efforts to broker a ceasefire driven by pressure from
01:24US President Donald Trump to end the fighting.
01:33At least 12 people were injured, including a 12-year-old girl in a Russian airstrike
01:38late on Wednesday on the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv, according to local officials.
01:45The attacks targeted civilian infrastructure and sparked at least four separate fires,
01:50causing damage to a number of buildings and a production facility, according to the Ukrainian
01:54State Emergency Service.
01:59Russian drone strikes also targeted the city of Akhterka in the Sumy region overnight,
02:04sparking a fire and causing damage to a number of buildings.
02:09No casualties were reported.
02:13Meanwhile, Russia's defense ministry said one Ukrainian drone was shot down over the
02:18Buransk region on Wednesday, causing a power shortage.
02:22On Tuesday, both sides said a limited agreement to stop fighting in the Black Sea had been reached.
02:34Search efforts continued on Thursday for four missing US soldiers in Lithuania after their
02:39vehicle was found submerged in water a day earlier.
02:43The soldiers went missing on Tuesday near the border with Belarus during a training exercise.
02:49Lithuania's defense minister said the vehicle was found five meters down, after which enough
02:54water was drained out to dig for it.
03:14Both Lithuanian and US troops joined the effort, which Lithuanian officials described as a
03:20highly complex operation.
03:23As our secretary of defense has said, we will not rest until our troops are found.
03:29You can see that it is technically a very difficult recovery situation.
03:35I want to thank the Lithuanian government, the authorities and all that are out here
03:41helping in the recovery.
03:43The Lithuanian defense minister expressed hope operations would proceed smoothly and
03:47said there were positive signs in the ongoing rescue efforts.
03:54Having ended a two-month ceasefire, Israel is now reportedly planning a bigger ground
03:59operation in Gaza, which could involve sending tens of thousands of troops to clear and then
04:04occupy large portions of the enclave.
04:07Almost a year and a half since Hamas' brutal attack of the 7th of October, Israeli Prime
04:12Minister Benjamin Netanyahu seems to be more determined and more empowered than ever to
04:18achieve the stated goals of dismantling of Hamas' governing and military capabilities
04:24and removing any future threat from Gaza.
04:28But the questions are increasingly being asked, including from the people of Israel, whether
04:33this would help bring back Israeli hostages or it could put their lives into even a bigger
04:39danger while at the same time chasing more devastation and death in Gaza.
04:45Israel believes 24 hostages are still alive and being held in Gaza.
04:51Ron Segev, a survivor of the Novo Music Festival attack, says releasing them remains the main
04:57goal of the people and it has not changed.
05:01I know that it's been one and a half years since that day and some people go back to
05:09their normal life, but I can tell you that us, the survivors, we will not move on until
05:19everyone will get back.
05:21I don't know about the goals of the government, but the people, for the people, that's the
05:26main goal, the only goal.
05:28Thomas Hunt, whose 10-year-old daughter was released after 50 days in Hamas captivity,
05:34says he does not believe diplomacy can help release the hostages.
05:42The only reason we got the first phase was through military action where they felt that
05:48they were going to be wiped out.
05:51I have asked him whether the recent protests in Gaza against Hamas mean there is hope for
05:57a change from within.
06:00There is a hope because they're actually risking their lives to do it.
06:05They're civilians, let's say, going against an armed terrorist organization.
06:11They will be crushed.
06:13They don't have a chance, no.
06:16Maybe in the future if the UN, Egyptian army, Israeli army go in as an international army,
06:27they could back them up and maybe we can get rid of Hamas that way.
06:35Serbian state authorities have until the 31st of March to respond to the European Court
06:41of Human Rights for the alleged use of sonic weapons against protesters two weeks ago.
06:49However, President Vucic reassured the EU on Tuesday night that the allegations were not true.
06:55True.
07:10Anti-government mass protests have been going on in Serbia for months, mainly against corruption
07:15and local oligarchs.
07:17Top EU officials are embarrassed since Vucic has been one of their main interlocutors in
07:22the Western Balkans for almost 10 years.
07:25But for this MEP, there doesn't seem to be any other alternatives.
07:29For the moment, I see the logic to speak with Vucic because there are no strong alternatives,
07:34clearly defined, clearly visible alternatives in Serbian politics, and that's a problem.
07:39But the reason why that is the case is that definitely European has neglected the situation
07:44in Southeast Europe, especially in the last 10 to 15 years, that enlargement policy was
07:49definitely completely marginal topic until the war in Ukraine started.
07:56However, the European Union plays the card of appeasement again in the Western Balkans
08:01with Serbia, especially in order to avoid any additional problem in a region that could
08:08become again a source of tensions for the entire Europe.

08:20Wildfires raging across South Korea's southeastern regions have become the worst ever recorded,
08:26leaving at least 27 people dead.
08:29The government has mobilized thousands of emergency responders and dozens of helicopters
08:33to tackle the blazes, but officials say strong winds are hampering their efforts.
08:38So far, at least 37,000 people were forced to evacuate, and over 300 structures have
08:44been destroyed, including ancient Buddhist temples.
08:48Rain was expected later on Thursday, but the chief of the Korea Forest Service said the
08:53amount likely won't help much.
08:55Authorities said the victims were mostly in their 60s or older, who found it difficult
09:00to escape quickly or even refuse to evacuate.
09:04Scientists say the warming atmosphere around the world is driving ever more extreme weather
09:09events, including wildfires, that are killing people and causing billions of dollars in
09:13damage every year.
09:18An ongoing eruption of Hawaii's most active volcano restarted again on Tuesday when lava
09:24began pouring out of a vent in the caldera.
09:27Kilauea has been erupting on and off since the end of December, shooting tall fountains
09:32of lava into the air and spilling molten rock across the caldera floor each time it's come
09:37back to life.
09:38Hawaii Volcanoes National Parks said the latest eruption wasn't affecting any residential
09:43areas.
09:45The current episode is the 15th of the ongoing eruption, which has been a popular attraction
09:49for tourists.
10:04Pretty much all the lions were on the front line and obviously their original owners evacuated
10:10and they were left there.
10:11And they were discovered, some by people and some by the army.
10:14And obviously the team that were working with IFAW and Wild Animal Rescue to get these lions
10:18out, they were taken to a temporary facility which was a converted horse stables just outside
10:23of Keith.
10:24Now the problem with that area is that that was the direct flight path for drones from
10:29Russia to Keith.
10:30So it was about getting the lions out as quickly as possible and as safe as possible as well.
10:41A favorite animal in the whole world is Una the lioness.
10:51Now she was a lioness that we rescued from Ukraine and she means the absolute world to
10:55me.
10:56Obviously when she was originally rescued she could barely walk.
10:58She was suffering from shell shock and concussion.
11:00She was so severely bad that they were actually going to euthanize her.
11:04But we managed to step in and get her out of the war zone and she's just come on leaps
11:08since being here at the sanctuary and we're just so happy with her progress.
