00:00It was a mistake that a reporter was inadvertently added to a signal chat with high-level national
00:05security principals having a policy discussion about imminent strikes against the Houthis
00:11and the effects of the strike. The conversation was candid and sensitive but as the president
00:17national security advisor stated no classified information was shared. The most important thing
00:23to the American people and to all of us is the success of this military operation against
00:29terrorists thanks to the leadership of President Trump and the actions of our brave men and women
00:34in uniform. Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation the Honorable Kash Patel,
00:41Director of National Security Agency General Tim Hawk, Director of Defense Intelligence Agency
00:48Lieutenant General Jeff Beir. First I want to address an issue that was made public earlier
00:51this week regarding a group text message exchange that included several members of
00:54President Trump's national security leadership team and a journalist. Yesterday our colleagues
00:59on the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence held their hearing on the annual threat assessment
01:02and unfortunately instead of exploring the real and existential threats that face our nation
01:06which is the purpose of this hearing this issue consumed most of their time.
01:12Now we come to learn that people in the most dangerous and sensitive jobs on the planet
01:17put extremely specific pre-decisional discussions about a military attack on signal
01:24which could be intercepted by the Russians and the Chinese. Everyone here knows that the Russians or
01:29the Chinese could have gotten all of that information and they could have passed it on
01:34to the Houthis who easily could have repositioned weapons and altered their plans to knock down
01:40planes or sink ships. I think that it's by the awesome grace of God that we are not mourning
01:48dead pilots right now.
01:50...Crawford and Ranking Member Himes, members of the committee, thank you for the opportunity for us to be here.
01:57The President and National Security Advisor Waltz held a press conference yesterday
02:01with a clear message. It was a mistake that a reporter was inadvertently added to a signal chat
02:07with high-level national security principals having a policy discussion about imminent
02:12strikes against the Houthis and the effects of the strike. National Security Advisor has taken
02:19full responsibility for this and the National Security Council is conducting an in-depth review
02:25along with technical experts working to determine how this reporter was inadvertently added to this
02:32chat. The conversation was candid and sensitive, but as the President and National Security Advisor
02:38stated, no classified information was shared. There were no sources, methods, locations,
02:45or war plans that were shared. This was a standard update to the National Security Cabinet
02:51that was provided alongside updates that were given to foreign partners in the region.
02:58Director Gabbard. Yes, Chairman.
03:00Director Ratcliffe. Yes, you do, Chairman and Ranking Member.
