00:00When I was younger, my great-grandfather, whom I'm named after, one of his passions
00:09was having a small collection of pocket watches.
00:13And I was given one of those pocket watches when I turned 18.
00:16Being able to take that watch, open it, and look at it and see this amazing piece of American
00:21manufacturing from well over 100 years ago, it just enthralled me.
00:27I was captivated from the moment I first laid eyes on it.
00:31I get a watch just before it gets photographed and put on the website.
00:36Usually I'm the last person to be involved with the watch because I'm the one who puts
00:39the final touches on the case back to close it up, check the waters and sea, check the
00:44timing and make sure it's good to go.
00:47My favorite watch has to be the first watch that I'm wearing now that my wife gave me.
00:52I wore it home a couple of times from the office and really liked it.
00:55She showed up and surprised me with my kids for Father's Day to give me the watch.
01:00Every watch that we buy or sell, we don't look at it as a Rolex or Breitling or a tag.
01:05We look at it as John's Rolex or John's Breitling.
01:08We look at it that way coming in and we look at it when it goes out to the next customer.
01:13We want people to understand that they're getting the right watch at the right price
01:16and with the right experience.
01:18We try to build a relationship with our customers.
01:20If someone's having a baby and that's why they're buying their watch, we try to do something
01:24fun to kind of mark dedication and magnify the moment.
01:28I think something that a lot of customers may not realize and some of my favorite stories
01:33in those interactions are, and I say it all the time to clients, we're a bunch of watch
01:37nerds.
01:38And what's really cool is if you call in, you're going to get one of four or five people.
01:42You have to be knowledgeable and you have to be in tune with the product, but also you
01:46have to care about people.
01:47Back when I was five, every toy my mom bought for me, I would dismantle it and try and put
01:54it back together.
01:55As time passed, I started doing jewelry.
01:59Watches just interest me, how they work and how they function, because I'm from a very
02:04young age.
02:05I always like to know how things work.
02:08By hiring highly empathetic, knowledgeable employees, we've been able to offer a digital
02:14experience that is also married with a personal experience, and I think you can't just have
02:21one or the other.
02:22You have to combine both of those.
