00:35Imamoglu was facing a second day of interrogations over alleged corruption and links to terror

00:41Imamoglu was questioned by police for five hours before being transferred to the courthouse
00:46to sit before prosecutors.
00:48Riot police units and dozens of water cannons were deployed to the courthouse to secure
00:52the vicinity.
00:53Clashes erupted between police and protesters who found their way to the building despite
00:57road and metro station closures.

01:06Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan addressed the protests and accused the opposition Republican

01:15Protests have rocked Istanbul and other major cities since Imamoglu's detention on Wednesday.
01:21Hundreds have been arrested so far, but protesters say they'll continue to demonstrate until
01:25this injustice ends.
01:32More than 10,000 people gathered in Dam Square in the Dutch capital Amsterdam to participate
01:37in anti-racism and fascism protests.
01:40The demonstration comes against the backdrop of the International Day for the Elimination
01:44of Racial Discrimination, observed annually on the 21st of March.
01:49Protesters held signs reading, Never Again, as they warned against the rise of the far
01:52right across Europe, drawing memory to its disastrous history in the 20th century.
01:58Demonstrators also waved Palestinian flags in solidarity with the people of Gaza after
02:02Israel moved to resume the fighting following the breakdown of a fragile truce with Hamas.
02:08Protests also took place in France across multiple cities including the capital Paris
02:12as well as Lyon and Toulouse.
02:14The French Interior Ministry says some 91,000 people participated in the nationwide rallies.
02:21Protesters voiced their rejection of far-right parties amid the rightward shift in French
02:24politics and the government's recent pledge to crack down on immigration.
02:29Protesters also waved Palestinian flags and carried placards accusing President Emmanuel
02:34Macron of complicity in what they called an unfolding genocide.
02:42Hezbollah struck Lebanon in retaliation for rockets targeting Israel in the heaviest clash
02:47since the ceasefire with the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah.
02:52Earlier, rockets were fired from Lebanon into Israel for the second time since December.
02:59Hezbollah denied responsibility, saying it was committed to the truce and accusing Israel
03:04of blaming it as pretext for more violence.

04:28The world famous London Eye along the River Thames near the iconic Big Ben also took part
04:33this year.
04:34Monuments and official buildings in the Portuguese capital joined the global movement, too.
04:38For one hour, Lisbon's most well-known monuments were bathed in darkness.
04:43Elsewhere in the world, the Empire State Building in New York, as well as Hong Kong's dazzling
04:48skyline joined the campaign, calling for a more sustainable future.
