00:29Hello guys, welcome back to the vlog, it is feeling like spring here, it is wonderful,

00:36we saw a few tidbits, a few hints of spring in Texas, like our pear tree outside started

00:45to bloom and the bees, it's a great pollinator, the pear tree, and the blooms that come before

00:51the pears started to bloom and there were bees, I saw some wasps like around, that was

00:57like the first hint of spring, but here it feels like spring, it's so beautiful.

01:02So I want to do some spring things today, I want to do a little bit of spring decorating

01:05in the house, do a little bit of spring cleaning, do a little reset, and I want to bake some

01:10cookies too, I got some more vanilla extract because I was out, I think I'm going to make

01:13some snickerdoodle cookies because those are Romeo's favorite, and just do some calming

01:17things while my hands still heal, I've still got scratches and stuff but they're getting

01:21so much better, I have a huge bruise right here that's getting better, this is our little

01:27bit of a break before we ramp back up into renovation mode when we get back to the cottage,

01:31so got a little bit ready, I have definitely been taking advantage of not renovating every

01:37day to dress a little bit more presentable, or just like play around with my outfits and

01:42I really want to switch out my clothes, my spring clothes are upstairs, so I've been

01:49going up there like one by one to see what I have, and this is like more of like sweaters,

01:57finally stopped raining and it's time to switch everything over, even though I'm not going to be

02:01here, maybe I can figure out what I'm going to take with me to the cottage, but I feel like when

02:07I'm there I'm just in renovation work clothes like every day, the only day that I'll dress

02:10differently is if we're going to like an estate sale or something, so I just got this t-shirt

03:11looks like over it because I love a little pop of a white collar underneath a cardigan,

03:40I have to do something sad in our bedroom and I'm not looking forward to it, but it's definitely

03:46necessary, it's that, oh not that, not the baby her, not the kinsley, what's behind her? Kate's bassinet,

03:56he hasn't obviously slept in this, I think these bassinets are really until they're like six months

04:01old, so it's time, Kate's nine months, he has not slept in this obviously, we haven't even been here,

04:06so he kind of aged out while we were gone a little bit, so it's become a second nightstand for me,

04:11I keep putting stuff in it and it is not a nightstand, it needs to go and like I just like

04:17to get to the side of the bed, it does make me sad because it's a reminder that

04:22he's out growing things, it's like every time he ages out of his clothes and we need to like up his

04:28clothing size, it's amazing that he's growing obviously and you want to see what you know their

04:33personality is going to be like and how they're going to talk and say words and that's like

04:38every milestone and every phase is so fun but it's sad too, it's like stop growing, I don't

04:44want you to grow up, oh it's crazy, so I'm going to bring it down and we're going to store it,

04:49way too big, he would literally climb out of that for sure, he doesn't even fit in this anymore,

04:54I don't even know why this is in here, this he's too long for this now, I think this is maxes out

04:59at oh it says 30 but it's really hard to adjust to 30 and this one is just like not not it,

05:06this one's not the best for like your back and stuff, I have another one that I use when we go

05:10like shopping and stuff, it's easier to have him like on me or Romeo and it's much better

05:16for your back, that one pulls on the top of your back, I don't like that one at all,

05:24clips, hair ties,

05:26I haven't been in this in a while,

05:39we're doing the bed too, just do a refresh, I like this warm gray color on the bed still so

05:44I'm going to leave that, I have a the green blended set and it's pretty like tone on tone,

05:49I really like it but I think I'll just leave this lighter color for now,

06:03okay I pulled out some things that I have for spring, I'm not a big kind of person on buying

06:09new things for every season every year, I kind of just like to have things that evoke the season,

06:15look like the season, really practical honestly, so this is stuff that you guys would have seen

06:20in my house last spring, I love to have pillow covers that I just like swap out so I invest in

06:26a quality insert and then I just put a new cover on it to look more spring, so we're going to

06:32change these out and I also invested in some like pretty good quality faux flowers last year,

06:39I went to this silk flower shop called Aldic in LA, I love real flowers at this time of year and

06:46I will always pick them and bring them in or get like a bunch of flowers when I go to Trader Joe's

06:51for like places in the house that I want them to look good all the time and it would like they

06:55would die, I don't know, like I felt like investing in like good quality ones like these was like

07:01the way to go, so I'm kind of like both, it's like I do and I don't, I have like a love-hate

07:05relationship with fake flowers and they're so practical, you buy them once and they don't die,

07:10I have these little kind of like mini hydrangeas and these that I have in put in the big pot for

07:17a bedroom but I might put them somewhere else, so I put those out and I have a pillow for the couch

07:22in there that I'll put out, I also have these like smaller little blue pillows that I got

07:28at an estate sale actually, I have three of them and I kind of just like to have them kind of

07:32hanging out, I thought they would be pretty like outside, you know, like on the front patio or

07:37something but I don't want to leave them out all the time because I feel like they're kind of light

07:40and they if the wind blew like they kind of get like tossed around, so if we're gonna have like

07:44company over and stuff it's like nice to like put those things out but then pick them back up, move

07:48the cushions inside before we left because it was so rainy, so with people coming over it'll be nice

07:53to have it all back put together, those are cute, I have three so I can put two here and then one

08:01on the chair, also happy to report that my lavender looks great, it rained quite a bit while I was gone

08:16and so it kept it just enough watering while it was, you know, because I repotted everything,

08:21it's thriving, looks great, like so happy, first I was like oh my gosh I'm gonna go back and I did

08:28all that work, I'm putting all that lavender and I wanted it so bad and I wanted it to be perfect

08:32and then I'm leaving, I thought for sure something would be dead but no, it looks great, these green

08:38pillows I actually really like, this was the first time that I decorated kind of intentionally for

08:42winter and I really liked it and I was like oh this is like kind of everyday too but it's totally

08:48not, like it just it feels like winter, like these stems with the pine cones that I have that I left

08:53over from Christmas but they felt like winter so I carried them through

08:57so I'm definitely feeling like no they're not everyday, like I definitely need to

09:01pick them out and stuff. When I left those out, I saw these green covers on Amazon and I really

09:05liked them, they were linen with like a fringe edge and they had a ton of different colors

09:10and they fit my inserts from Pottery Barn so I got those for winter and like I kid you not

09:19Kinsley? When your baby's toy randomly goes off and he's not in there?

09:24Kinsley? Let's hope that was Kinsley. Swapping out your pillows is literally the easiest thing

09:29that you can do. Excuse me, excuse me, hello, can I help you? I want to go grab some flowers

09:38from Trader Joe's because I want to decorate the dining room table because I'm having friends

09:43come over tomorrow for brunch, it's kind of like a, I don't know, it's kind of like a

09:48it's kind of like a, well I say brunch, it's kind of like hors d'oeuvres before lunch because I have

09:53a team lunch meeting tomorrow, just trying to do all of those types of things while I'm here in LA.

09:59We have some exciting things with the candle line that I have some meetings, like really big day

10:03tomorrow. I've been utilizing underneath the guest bed upstairs to store like different season stuff,

10:09you know like extra pillows and like this stuff and the flowers, so just like it's nice like

10:14tucked underneath there and it's the flowers can stay kind of fluffed if I just put them

10:17underneath there, so these are gonna go upstairs. Pretty! See like these just feel too wintry,

10:27you know, I mean that was the point, that was really the point, and the pine cones got to go.

10:32I feel like too, like everything in spring feels a little bit better when there's less,

10:48in some ways more, like I did the gallery wall, which I'm so happy that you guys like it,

10:52because it's just me playing around and it's temporary obviously, but it's like

10:57fun, it's like different, you know, and when I walk in it's like powerful in that room,

11:01like look at it cloudy right now and have the lights off in here, but you can see what kind

11:04of like what it looks like at night, it's definitely a vibe, I had a lot of fun doing it,

11:07so in that regard I like more, you know, but like this it's just like less,

11:11I'm gonna take this clock off and I'm just gonna leave two candle holders over there.

11:22So,

11:28if you know me, you know what color vase I'm going to go get, because I'm still obsessed,

11:33I'm still in love with this color and it's been like three years, four years.

11:39My cornflower blue vase is coming out to play! Okay, I don't know, I can't decide if like this,

11:47this needs to be edited out. I like it here, but also it's like just a little bit cluttered and I

11:53think I would be happier with less, so like the books I think will go. I've tried these

11:58in there before and didn't like them, I like like the dried flowers a little better.

12:17I like this blue.

12:28The dried ones just look better, feels so much fresher.

12:37We are going to make snickerdoodle cookies. Romeo's favorite cookie is snickerdoodle

12:42and I found this recipe online that was called the best snickerdoodle cookie recipe and I made

12:50it for him and he really liked it. When I made it, I remember like doing this cinnamon sugar

12:55coating and it calls for so much cinnamon and I second-guessed myself then and I didn't use quite

13:04as much cinnamon and the cinnamon just like kind of like bakes into the cookies, you know, so it's

13:10right. I should have, me thinking that I am a professional baker and know the amount of cinnamon

13:17it's supposed to be. I've had the butter out softening for the last like 30 minutes or so,

13:22so it's ready to mix up. These are really easy too. You don't have to put it in the refrigerator

13:26to chill it, but you can if you have like an extra 30 minutes or so, you can do that. We're

13:31gonna cream the butter and the sugar together, so it's a cup of butter and a cup and a half of sugar.

13:36I said that really fast and I, I hope I get to a point where I just like,

13:41no, like I don't have to look at a recipe. I mean, I know that that takes like, you know, like years

13:46probably of like making something like over and over again, but you know, that could be cool.

13:52I can put it already in the KitchenAid instead of this.

14:03And a cup and a half.

14:14Light and fluffy. Now we're going to add the eggs and vanilla.

14:19So the last time we made snickerdoodle, I actually used my hand mixer. It works perfectly

14:35fine, but this is definitely, look how fluffy that is. Pour the rest of the ingredients in

14:40here and just combine it. Flour, cream of tartar, salt, baking soda.

15:19So I had a little bit of winter in the kitchen too, just the stem.

15:39And I have these tall flowers and I have this pot originally in the bedroom and it just looks so

15:45beautiful. Like this white against the green for spring, but we have all the babies. Our dresser is

15:50definitely a changing table and it's so convenient to have one downstairs. Don't have a pot in there

15:55anymore. I think that these would be just as beautiful in here. And I have this like table

16:00cloth, but I want to put it as a runner just to add something to the center to like put,

16:05because I want to do like a little bit of charcuterie. This is kind of like an appetizer

16:08before our lunch. So I just want to have something, I'll do some fruit and stuff.

17:08A few drinking glasses. I love a good reason to put out a drinking glass. I have yellow.
