00:00I'm here in Stockbridge and what is turning out to be an absolute cracker of a day.
00:03The area has just been named one of the Sunday Times best places to live in Scotland.
00:08So I thought I'd pop down and see what it was all about.
00:20It's just 15 minutes walk from Princess Street and the Sunday Times particularly liked
00:24its old Georgian buildings, its ancient trees and its independent shops.
00:38It's an area that embodies the spirit of Scott, Stevenson, Conan Doyle
00:43and those who wrote about Edinburgh the gothic playground for their characters.
00:47In modern times though it's much better known for its
00:57independent shops, cafes, delis and some brilliant pubs.
01:08Pubs like Hector's are brilliant local favourites for food and drink.
01:17So
01:27once you've had your fill of food and drink though you can head down and walk along the
01:49watery leaf which snakes through the area. I'm currently at the St Bernard's well where
01:55legend has it if you've got any ailments it can help cure them.
01:57So I'll be taking great advantage of that before I leave.
