00:00as remarked on the glasses still just 22 years of age Wano Yuzo even though he's been winning for
00:11well two years already three years one of his first victories that he claimed was that steep
00:17uphill finish in the Basque country the circuito de Geccio and year on year his achievements have
00:24got bigger and bigger this year for example he's won the Fondorm Classic the Trofeo La Guellia back
00:31in the spring up in Liguria and of course Tirreno Adriatico the most prestigious general classification
00:38he's taken is in his career to add to the GC he won the tour of the Basque country last year it's
00:45been serene and fluent progress but he did need at some point fairly soon to start winning stages of
00:51grand tours as he said in the interview this is his fourth grand tour well he's done it now and
00:56that has broken the ice potentially and bodes extremely well for not just his career but
01:02for the remainder of his two plus weeks of racing still to go here at the Giro d'Italia
01:09win number 14 in his professional career Juan Ayuso is the winner of stage 7
01:21it's tempting to draw too many conclusions from what we've just witnessed because this wasn't a
01:32typical summit finish it wasn't at altitude but it is an indication nonetheless and certainly it'll
01:39change the feeling in both the Roglic camp and the Ayuso camp about their relative prospects and their
01:45fortunes and it is as you said it was not a typical happy finish where you expect like a huge gaps or
01:57huge blow-ups from from from riders so the conclusion is like all the contendent all all the riders are
02:05willing to to come in Rome with with a pink jersey on out there nobody was really distance by far so so far
02:13it's it's it's a very tight uh GC we've got and and I think we can have a lot uh going on when the real mountains
02:21uh start to be approached by the peloton seven riders there all on of four seconds including the Bahrain
02:27victorious pairing of Antonio Tiberi and Damiano Caruso the old man is hanging on there in the general
02:33classification keeping a GC iron in the fire
02:39now Primozroglic retakes the race lead though after his dominant performance in terms of
02:43the GC riders at the individual time trial that's where he built up this buffer on the pure climbers
02:50but he was beaten today and he was beaten into fourth place and out of the time bonuses
02:56so the classic Roglic method that we've seen so many times at grand tours of beetling off with 500
03:02meters to go taking a two second time gap and 10 seconds time bonuses which has been such a tried and
03:09trusted method for Primozroglic down the years well actually he had that done to him today by Juan
03:15Ayuso who Roglic'd Roglic exactly and nonetheless he is uh he's gonna be able tomorrow to start with the
03:24little jersey the pink jersey is wearing now um
03:27um they got a couple of stages and probably not tomorrow which i will expect a breakaway to come to
03:34the finish line but definitely sunday is a GC race because um um with the with the gravel um making
03:43their appearance at the Giro d'Italia all of them they want to be sure to be out of trouble so uh definitely
03:49starting with the little jersey is going to boost his morale we know often say uh it gives you the
03:53wings you know to when you're wearing a little jersey such as the one uh he is on now so why not
04:00and uh let's not forget this uh it's uh he has also a time trial that could benefit him quite well
04:06because he's such a fine time trialist former olympic champion well the time trial could be
04:13the second time trial could be hugely significant in the outcome of this Giro d'Italia i mean it always is
04:18but it could be the thing that gets Roglic over the line in this Giro but we're leaping to too many
04:24conclusions here there is a lot of racing still to come definitely a first disappointment uh or the
04:30second of today he didn't grab the win and and also the bottle of wine seems like fairly empty as he
04:35was looking inside in search of some pleasure his team sponsors have been very happy with you
04:44Jacopo for using their their motto as well about the uh Malia Rosa giving you wings exactly it comes out
04:51natural so
04:55if only i would have worked in marketing 20 years ago when they started
04:58he's so experienced Primor Roglic he'll trust in the process trust in his own amazing ability
05:10still to get the job done
05:15and his team rode a smart race today ensuring that other teams came to help
05:21but not quite as smart as UAE team Emirates who didn't put their nose into the wind at all until
05:27Rafa Maike hit the front right at the end notable performance there from Max Poole i think who takes
05:33over undisputed leadership of uh Picnic Post NL Michael Stor is chipping away and still very much in the mix
05:39it's a intriguing and congested top 10 in the general classification yeah it's definitely um
05:46Primoz has uh two difficult contenders right behind him um uh one i use so is actually toro both from
05:54the same teams uh the youngsters um can be a serious threat from because definitely he can play different
06:00cards and remember this time last year Tadej Pogacar led the Giro by about 27 minutes
06:06it's a very different race this year i'm exaggerating slightly but uh he basically already won the race
06:12by seven stages in yeah that's what makes uh it's gonna make this Giro d'Italia even more good because
06:19when you don't have such a dominant rider it's uh everything is possible Lorenzo Fortunato
06:29had a uh a decent enough day taking nine more points in the king of the mountains
06:35classification but i think today we might have seen the emergence of a another rider who might just
06:42target the general classification that's uh jaco elula's paul double yeah he scored the maximum
06:50point available uh except for the last time and um so he's now in contention as well and um as we uh
06:57won a user as well uh with the with the victory at the at the finish line uh jumped as well into the
07:04placement as we see now it's uh not far albeit they're going about their king of the mountains
07:10in completely different manner if one user wins the king of the mountains jersey it'll be pure byproduct
07:15of his general classification race whereas double and Fortunato might be looking to get in breaks and uh
07:21get those climbs on the route before the final climb of the day
07:25now of course when our user just 22 years of age has uh supplanted matthias vachek in the general
07:35classification and he moves into the white jersey the best young rider and the frightening thing is a
07:40bit like tadej pogaccia he's going to be competing in this competition for another three years
07:46so there's going to be a lot more white jerseys in uh his career when our user
07:53today um i think matthias vachek was hoping to hold on and having a possibility to even
08:02taking the pink jersey of uh matt's position shoulder but the the finish line proven to be a bit too much for
08:08the big um czech uh rider
08:31so the third different rider to wear the white jersey after busato who is replaced after just one day
08:38on the individual time trial by the czech rider matthias vachek and he in turn has held it for
08:43almost a week until juan ayuso has taken over
08:51but it won't be him who will be wearing the white jersey tomorrow it'll be his teammate instead
08:58juan ayuso will be in pink but we'll be able to identify uh the mexican i think
09:04isaac del toro because on behalf of his teammates del toro in second place in the white jersey
09:11standings will be in white tomorrow
09:14matthias vachek drops down to fifth place in that competition at 33 seconds now
09:24and uh slightly out of its usual order in the podium ceremony because he only came in relatively few
09:31minutes ago maz pedersen back on the podium as he will be i would imagine pretty much every day
09:37between now and rome to collect the malia ciclamino unless olaf koi can start to really rack up the points
09:45but the opportunities to do that are few and far between in this giro d'italia and
09:52pedersen has not failed really to take any opportunity presented him to pick up points
09:58and he'll continue i think to look for intermediate sprints should the opportunity arise when he can get
10:04them just to keep chipping away and making life difficult yeah um i think like uh yes some stages
10:12which suit him quite good but as well like stages like tomorrow why not he can give it a go you know
10:18um it's such a capable rider you know um why not i would not be surprised honestly to see him
10:24on the on the attack tomorrow on a stage like tomorrow
10:37so the points competition of course extremely prestigious in its own right
10:41second only really to the uh maglia rosa in terms of prestige very much still the property of
10:47maz pedersen always knew it was coming that he would relinquish the race lead today
10:54he'll settle for three stage wins and an iron grip on the uh malia ciclamino at this point
11:00tonnelli though moving up into second place and he'll be wearing the uh malia ciclamino
11:07no he won't be wearing the magic i keep getting that wrong because
11:10matt's pedersen is no longer in the malia rosa you're absolutely right it's the second time
11:14jacopo you've had to correct me on that
11:19all right then let's hear from the man who is the malia rosa for the second
