00:00Brought to you by Kroger. Great food, low prices at Kroger.
00:09It is Dewar, the new era in Detroit radio. The team of Dave and Chuck the Freak had their first morning show on Rift today.
00:16Yeah, the guys have big shoes to fill, but they are optimistic. Fox News' Amy Andrews takes a look.
00:22It's been a pretty long week for Dave and Chuck the Freak and Lisa here today.
00:26Their first show, it is in the history books. Welcome to Detroit. How did it go, Lisa?
00:31I think it went really well. I think that the chemistry is still there, that we picked up right where we left off six months ago.
00:37So I thought it was a good show. I feel really good about it.
00:40Any butterflies in the tummy there, Dave?
00:42Absolutely. You know, it's not until you actually get in there and do the show until you really know how it's going to go.
00:46And we had to learn all sorts of new things this week and try and figure out how to make it all work.
00:50But our listeners have come to expect that no matter what goes wrong, we're just going to tell you what's happening.
00:55We're not going to try and be polished and perfect.
00:57If it blows up, it blows up, and we'll let you know what's going on, and I'll scream and get angry.
01:01And that's just a part of our show.
01:03So our fail-safe plan was just figure it out, get on the air, and let people experience the Dave and Chuck the Freak show back again after six months off.
01:11And what was it like, the transition from Windsor to the D? Was there much of a learning curve?
01:17Yeah, with anything, it's a learning curve.
01:19It's a brand-new room, it's a brand-new studio, it's unlike anything we've ever been used to before.
01:26So the great thing is everyone's been so great to us here.
01:30The people have been amazing and really, you know, back-breaking work trying to get us ready to go.
01:36So we're just so thankful.
01:38You know, have you looked at social media?
01:40I know that, you know, people in Detroit are very territorial, and, you know, these legends left and passed the torch to you guys.
01:47You obviously have your own followers, though, too.
01:49Talk about that transition and trying to get those listeners to maybe give you a try.
01:54Well, I think that all we can do is do our show the best we can, right?
01:58We're not changing it up.
01:59This is the show that they wanted here at RIF.
02:01We're giving it to them in the morning.
02:02There's some people that will never turn us on.
02:04They won't give us a chance.
02:04But there's a lot of people, I think, who will, and hopefully they'll be impressed with what they hear.
02:09It's just about making you laugh on your way into work in the morning or school or whatever it is.
02:13And we've had so many incredible fans reach out to us.
02:17I mean, like, we were trending on Twitter this morning because so many people were tweeting us and sending us Facebook posts and e-mails by the thousands.
02:25So we thank everyone who listened and reached out to us today.
02:28It meant a lot to us.
02:29Have you talked to Drew and Mike at all?
02:31Did they give any words of advice, or is that kind of not a relationship?
02:34They have no idea who we are.
02:37No, we honestly have never met them.
02:39We're fans.
02:40We listened, you know, and we have great respect for what they did.
02:43How could you not?
02:44At 22 years, they were at the top of their game, you know, when they were here at the radio station.
02:48It's a weird situation.
02:49We'll totally admit.
02:50You know, it took a while for us to say, yes, you will take that job.
02:54But at the end of the day, if we didn't take it, someone else was going to get the job here at the RIF because that decision was made before we came into the picture.
03:01And so we had to say yes.
03:02Yes, we can all be friends.
03:04There's plenty of airwaves for everyone, right?
03:06All right, I'm going to leave on a positive note.
03:08What was the funniest part of the morning for you?
03:09Oh, what was the...
03:11I'm on the spot now.
03:12What was...
03:13Mom.
03:13Oh, geez.
03:14You had mom on?
03:16They called my mom.
03:17And unfortunately, my mom has got into erotic novels on her Kindle.
03:22Oh, wait.
03:23It was, I'm going into therapy in about two minutes.
03:26I'll be heading to my therapist to talk that out.
03:28But yeah, she's...
03:30Her big thing is she's into erotica ever since Fifty Shades of Grey.
03:32And they made her read some stuff on the show and it was absolutely revolting.
03:36Well, I thought you guys might go have a beer, but you're definitely going to a counselor
03:39right now, right?
03:39Right now.
03:40Okay.
03:41Yes, Dave will definitely be in therapy this afternoon.
03:45I'd say the other one's going to go home and drink a beer and sleep a little bit.
03:48All right.
