00:00A couple of bad drivers making headlines in Massachusetts this morning, and I can't even
00:08fire up the symphony of destruction because this dude who's only 57 lost control of his
00:14vehicle at a gas station in Brockton, Mass., and set the place on fire.
00:19Oh, man.
00:21Fire erupted at a gas station overnight in Brockton after a car crashed into a gas pump.
00:25Video footage posted by the Brockton Fire Department shows the driver of the car appear
00:28to back up and crash into the pump at Prime Gas on North Montello Street just before midnight.
00:35The driver then pulls forward out of view of the camera.
00:38A police spokesman said the driver of the 2005 Subaru Impreza pulled into the gas station
00:43and attempted to back up to get closer to the pump, but the 57-year-old driver said he lost
00:48control and just hit the pump by mistake.
00:51So he gasped pedal instead of the brake.
00:55Yeah.
00:56Oh, he ran right out.
00:57He's lucky that hole.
00:58His hole.
00:59Ran over the whole pump.
01:01The whole pump is destroyed.
01:02Jesus.
01:03His car is like, the back of it is engulfed in flames at that point.
01:07So he pulled across the parking lot from the station and called 911 from there.
01:11No one was injured.
01:13As of early this morning, the gas station was still closed.
01:16Hey, James, when you worked at the gas station, did anyone ram a pump?
01:20A couple times, but nothing to where it caught on fire.
01:22Oh, my God.
01:23I pooped my pants.
01:25That was the case.
01:27You can see me abandon the gas station.
01:29There's a nuclear bomb going off.
01:32I just picture somebody walking.
01:33They'd be like, oh, my God, the pump's on fire.
01:35You just see me go, ah, we're on fire line.
01:39We're all going to die.
01:41It's doomsday.
01:42Call 911.
01:43I mean, there's giant gas tanks underground.
01:46I would have hopped in my car and just drove and kept driving.
01:50So I'm sure that's not the training you received when you started at the gas station on how to react when the pump's on fire.
01:56No, I think the first step in that situation, they tell you to stay calm.
02:00And I would have been like, oh, my God.
02:03Oh, my God.
02:04Oh, we're going to burn alive.
02:07Aren't you supposed to go and hit the gas suppression button and all the stuff supposed to come down?
02:12Yeah, you probably are supposed to do that, but that's probably not how I would have been.
02:15Yeah, exactly.
02:17Exactly.
02:18Because, like, the big, like, sea of light foam is supposed to cover the hole, right?
02:22But no one did that here.
02:23I didn't see that there.
02:24No.
02:24Yeah, but, like, I would have looked at the guy that was working with the crazy eye.
02:27I'd be like, Casey, run.
02:29This is the end, man.
02:30The guy with the crazy eye.
02:32The crazy eye.
02:34We got to get out of here, James.
02:36Send yourself, Casey.
02:38Oh, God.
02:39I know you take the bus here, but just run as fast as you can.
02:43I want to see this video.
02:44Yeah, so Brockton Fire posted this on Twitter.
02:47We'll retweet at twitter.com slash Dave and Chuck if you want to see it.
02:52So there.
02:52Okay, so he's off.
02:53He kind of pulled forward and realized, I guess, he wasn't in the right spot.
02:57So now he's going to back up.
02:59Yeah, here he comes.
03:00Oh, it's classic.
03:01Oh, my God.
03:02Oh, an instant fire.
03:03So James is inside right now.
03:05Ah!
03:06Ah!
03:07Oh, my God!
03:08The back of his car's going up!
03:09The pump's going up!
03:11Ah!
03:12Run!
03:12Casey, run!
03:14Run, Casey!
03:15Casey, run!
03:17Run, Casey!
03:19Oh, it's out.
03:19Don't worry, I'll call Harriet.
03:22Yeah, so here we are.
03:23This fire's been blazing for quite a while now.
03:26No one has hit that fire suppression button.
03:28James is asleep at the wheel in there.
03:29And you can see that there's a fire extinguisher that's been knocked loose, and it's on the ground.
03:34No, Casey, don't grab that fire extinguisher on the ground!
03:37You're going to blow up!
03:38The tanks are right below you!
03:41You see James just running by in the video.
03:44You see a blur?
03:45Yeah.
03:45There he goes.
03:49We're coming as a trainee, but just forget your training!
03:51Use your instincts!
03:53Use your instincts.
03:55Oh, my God.
03:56Yeah, nothing yet.
03:57We're a minute in, and no one has hit any kind of suppression system.
04:00Because they were smart.
04:01They ran.
04:02Yeah, they must have.
04:02They don't save themselves.
04:04Yeah, like, what?
04:05Put it out.
04:05I'm just trying to...
04:07Maybe the fire and the gas may be getting there.
04:10It just was an eternal flame until they arrived.
04:13It was.
04:14It was like the Olympic torch.
04:15Yeah.
04:16Oh, my God.
04:17It was never going out.
04:18It's like his car was a match, and the pump was like the side of the matchbook.
04:22Yeah.
04:23Like, it took nothing for that fire to start.
04:25Oh, you're right.
04:26I've never seen it start so easily.
04:27He literally...
04:28Oh, there's...
04:29Oh, I think it's just the...
04:30Just him watching the video.
04:32Oh, God.
04:34Oops.
04:34So, we retweeted that from Brockton Fire, twitter.com slash Dave and Chuck, if you want
04:39to see it.
04:39It's up there now.
04:41Oh.
