WATCH: Calare MP Andrew Gee and Kennedy MP Bob Katter in Bathurst on April 17, 2025 to announce plans for a bill to protect prime agricultural land.
Transcript
00:00We've got industrial developments, big industrial developments, that are all putting prime agricultural land under threat.
00:08And we need to be looking after Australia's food and fibre security.
00:13Because once you concrete over prime agricultural land, it's lost forever.
00:18So what our legislation will do is legislate the protection of Australia's prime agricultural land and it will give farmers the right to decide how their agricultural land is used so that people can't come in and tell them what their land will be used for.
00:38It's pretty simple. They've gone from a market share of 20 or 30 per cent each to a market share of 40 or 50 per cent each.
00:56No other country on earth has this concentration of market power.
01:03In fact, the closest to Australia is England and the big six have got 36 per cent and they're squealing.
01:10The big two here have got maybe 85 per cent.
