00:06That's because Steelers star TJ Watt is now publicly voicing his frustrations with his
00:11contract situation, and it could get uglier before it gets better in Pittsburgh.
00:19Hey everyone, Rob Gregson of A to Z Sports Pittsburgh, and today we're going to discuss
00:24TJ Watt's recent viral Instagram post that he put up on his story last week.
00:30All it was, was a simple picture of TJ Watt throwing up the deuces, and you would have
00:36thought that the world ended.
00:37I mean, we had people saying, is TJ Watt going to demand a trade?
00:41Is he going to retire?
00:42Does he want to quit on the Pittsburgh Steelers?
00:46Does he no longer want to play?
00:48We had people proposing preposterous trades that would send Dak Prescott to the Pittsburgh
00:53Steelers for TJ Watt.
00:55I mean, everybody lost their minds, but the truth is, TJ Watt, he just wants a new contract.
01:01That's all he wants.
01:02He has been the sole, sole reason why the Pittsburgh Steelers have gone to the playoffs
01:08the last two years.
01:09And you don't have to take my word for it.
01:10Just look at the team's record when TJ Watt is not on the field.
01:15They do not win games without TJ Watt.
01:17The Pittsburgh Steelers, Mike Tomlin, one of the greatest organizations and head coaches
01:22in the NFL are a losing franchise without TJ Watt on the field ever since he joined the
01:29Steelers.
01:29And quite frankly, that's all the leverage he needs.
01:32Forget the fact that he's been a defensive player of the year, that he nearly broke the
01:36NFL record for most sacks in a season, that he's a stalwart, that he has no off the field
01:42issues, that he's a hard worker and one of the leaders on the team.
01:45Forget all of that.
01:45Throw all of that out the window.
01:47All he has to do in his contract negotiations is go in there and put on the team's record
01:53when he doesn't play.
01:55That's all he has to do.
01:56And that's why he wants to be paid.
01:58He just saw Miles Garrett, who we can sit here and debate about who's better.
02:02TJ Watt, Miles Garrett.
02:04We can go back and forth all day about that.
02:06He just saw Miles Garrett go for north of $40 million per year in salary.
02:12Yet he's nowhere close to that.
02:14Yet, Daniil Hunter just made over $35 million per year.
02:20Nobody in the NFL, heck, Daniil Hunter himself knows that he's not better than TJ Watt.
02:27So, all Watt wants is a little bit of recognition.
02:31You know, this whole offseason, this theorist priorities has seemingly been all mixed up.
02:36Of course, you have to find a quarterback.
02:38But yet, here we are, days away from the NFL draft, where they pick 21st overall in a
02:44bad quarterback draft.
02:46And their starting quarterback right now is Mason Rudolph.
02:49Do you think that TJ Watt, who's going to be 31 years old in the back half of his prime,
02:54is excited about going into a season where the quarterback is Mason Rudolph?
02:58So, he's sitting there thinking to himself,
03:00Dang.
03:02They've had this whole offseason to fill these holes, to find a quarterback,
03:05to do this, that, the third.
03:06They've done none of it.
03:08And I'm not paid.
03:09That's obviously a striking issue with TJ Watt and his representation.
03:14And quite frankly, it should be.
03:15He has every right to be upset with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
03:18And if they don't pay TJ Watt, it's going to get very ugly for the Steelers front office,
03:25for GM Omar Khan, for R. Rooney, and for Mike Talman.
03:28So, this situation is going nowhere, and it's certainly something to keep an eye on,
03:32because if TJ Watt, of all people, is going on social media to voice his frustrations,
03:39you know it's serious between him and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
