00:07We all know deep down that while Mason Rudolph is a good story, he's not the long term answer
00:12which means it's time to start considering a specific name in round 1 of the NFL draft.
00:18Hey everyone, Rob Gregson of A-Z Sports Pittsburgh and today we're going to talk about Jackson
00:26Dart as the future of the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback position.
00:30That's right, Jackson Dart, who came into prevalence with the Ole Miss Rebels under
00:35Lane Kiffin in the SEC.
00:38The Steelers are still waiting for Aaron Rodgers to really just call them back, quite frankly
00:43at this point.
00:44He has chosen the Minnesota Vikings as his number one spot.
00:48The problem is, the Vikings are unsure if they want him and if they say no, then perhaps
00:53Aaron Rodgers becomes the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback for 2025, but that's just the
00:59issue.
01:002025, whether it's Aaron Rodgers, Mason Rudolph, or some other veteran off the scrap heap is
01:08only a short term answer.
01:09The long term answer is unknown, but it could be found via Jackson Dart.
01:16Jerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported that the Steelers have interest in
01:21both Jackson Dart and Will Howard of Ohio State.
01:25Here's the problem though, Will Howard, yeah you're looking at a day two, maybe even early
01:30day three kind of guy.
01:32Jackson Dart, no matter how much the Steelers may wish was a day two guy, is not getting
01:37out of the first round.
01:39Right or wrong, he has been on a meteoric rise ever since the end of the regular season
01:44for college football and he is going to go in round one on night one of the NFL draft.
01:52It's no ifs, ands, or buts about it, whether or not you think he's capable of performing
01:58in an NFL offense or if he has desirable starter traits, it doesn't matter, expect him to go.
02:05And if the Steelers are interested in Jackson Dart, they're going to have to pick him at
02:0921 if he's even there.
02:12We know that the top is going to be Cam Ward and Shadur Sanders likely in that order.
02:18But Jackson Dart has a lot of intrigue from a lot of teams.
02:22So if the Steelers miss out on Aaron Rodgers or can't put together a trade for some other
02:30veteran quarterback, maybe it is Mason Rudolph.
02:34But if you go into the 2025 season with Mason Rudolph and Mason Rudolph alone and just Skyler
02:41Thompson as your current backup, like their situation is right now, you're asking for
02:46a desperate fan base to have some hope that they just simply don't have.
02:52So if the Steelers strike out on Rodgers, look for them to attack quarterback in round
02:57one and look for Jackson Dart to potentially be a name to watch for the Steelers in 2025.
