The Eagles have had an interesting offseason so far, but Howie Roseman is far from done. One of the biggest areas of need at the moment, safety, has a clear solution. It involves a player who is familiar with some of the faces in the Eagles organization and openly expressed his interest recently in joining the Eagles. If not, should they target one high in the draft? In other news, Eagles legend Brandon Graham officially retires and the Green Bay Packers are still whining about the Tush Push. Today, RB discusses all of this and more!

00:00The Philadelphia Eagles are slowly but surely making every other team look like a fool yet
00:06again.
00:07Howie Roseman's grandmaster plan is all coming together, but he's not done yet.
00:12As today, we have a familiar face for some people in this building that actually wants
00:17to be here.
00:18We'll talk about what he said and whether the Eagle should make this signing or go younger
00:22in the draft.
00:23We'll get into the pros and cons and a whole bunch more, but welcome in to A to Z Philly.
00:28I'm RB.
00:29Do me a favor, like this video, go down below and subscribe to the channel.
00:33Really appreciate all the people staying tapped in with our Eagles coverage and we started
00:38off with the news from a couple days ago.
00:40I'll tell you, man, BG announcing retirement from the NFL after 15 seasons is insane and
00:47I loved every single thing he said in that press conference about it's not where you
00:52start, it's about where you finish and just going through the trials and tribulations,
00:56man.
00:57He gave up and he made a pro bowl.
00:59He won two super bowls.
01:01He was with this team his entire career and he is responsible for the best play in franchise
01:07history that helped seal the first super bowl.
01:10This guy's forever a legend.
01:11He is on the Eagles Mount Rushmore.
01:13No debate.
01:14I'm sorry.
01:15He is one of the greatest players and you can't really tell this organization's history
01:19without BG.
01:20So very happy for him.
01:22We will surely miss him, but Howie Roseman has already drafted his protégées and those
01:27guys were balling out in the Super Bowl in one of the best defensive performances ever
01:32show.
01:33Shout out to Howie.
01:34Shout out to BG and the young guys as well.
01:37Here are some Eagles legends.
01:38I mean, talk about Fletch.
01:40Talk about Lane.
01:41Lane, you're up next, bro.
01:42And how about Jason Kelsey?
01:44Can't forget him either.
01:45The fact that those guys played together as long as they did and helped contribute to
01:50winning.
01:51It just again shows not only the development, but the kind of guys they bring into this
01:55building.
01:57BG, Lane, Jason Kelsey, Fletch.
01:58They're all just class acts, you know, and I'm going to miss all these guys.
02:01It'll be weird not seeing BG, but it's a little bit different than the Kelsey thing in my
02:06opinion.
02:07Like for me, I'm kind of at ease with it at the same time, you know, seeing BG go out.
02:11He had the two Lombardis at his presser, knowing that he went out as a champ and was able to
02:16return in that final game and help win.
02:18I mean, it just, it's amazing.
02:20It really is.
02:21What a story.
02:22And I just wanted to shout out Cooper Dejean who put this on Twitter.
02:26He says, grateful to have a guy like BG in the locker room for my first year.
02:29Great leader in person.
02:31And I think every other person in that building would say the same thing about BG.
02:35What a class act.
02:37And like I said, he'll be around, but we are going to miss him in this locker room for
02:41sure.
02:42So congrats on retirement and being on top of the world as a champion.
02:46But ladies and gentlemen, Howie has more work to do and he's not done yet.
02:51The fact is that he is out here fooling everybody.
02:54Okay.
02:56And it hit me.
02:57I didn't realize it until I saw the words.
02:58The Eagles have all four of these guys locked in until 2029.
03:02Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, AJ and Devontae.
03:06And they have so many guys locked up.
03:08Even Lane Johnson, who we were just talking about.
03:10They go and extend him another year.
03:11The Eagles are really, really creative and they're really smart at getting ahead of it.
03:17And you know, midway through an extension, they'll sign guys to an extra couple of years.
03:21They'll manipulate some of the money on the back end.
03:24Even like the Cincinnati Bengals, who just went out and they signed their receivers,
03:28had to pay a premium.
03:29Howie is just so far ahead of every other team and every other organization.
03:33You could tell he just understands every intricacy and he's really balling out right now.
03:39I mean, Howie Roseman is on a crazy run and if he can really continue to perform what
03:44he is trying to do right now, I mean, this Eagles team is not only going to be good for
03:48the next year or two, they might be good until 2029 at least for the next four years.
03:53I mean, this guy is on a generational run and he made some interesting moves so far
03:59this offseason.
04:00But you know, we talked about the Aziz Ojalary signing, being able to bring him in at a great
04:05discount and he's just patching up the holes.
04:08But there still remains one major hole in my opinion, and that is the safety position.
04:14Now I want to hear from Eagle Nation down in the comments.
04:17What do you think about Sidney Brown?
04:18Do you think he can be the starter if the Eagles don't go safety in the first round
04:23of the draft or they don't go high in the draft for safety?
04:26Do you think Sidney Brown is good enough to start?
04:29Can he be the guy?
04:30Sidney Brown third round pick 2023 played some games in his rookie year.
04:34I think he started six games.
04:36He was actually playing pretty well until he had the major injury in the last game of
04:40the season.
04:41Came back last year.
04:42Good special teamers really wasn't a role for him because they brought CJ back.
04:46But hard hitter showed a lot of athleticism, right?
04:49A guy who's not afraid to get up in your grill almost like a CJ in a way, but not exactly.
04:54Do you think he can be the starter?
04:56I still think I need to see him prove it more, but I don't think Howie Roseman is done and
05:01I don't think that they're going into training camp thinking that Sidney is going to be the
05:06guy.
05:07Maybe he'll compete.
05:08Maybe he'll be there, you know, in the top two or three, but I think they're going to
05:12do something else.
05:13And the first option is the NFL draft.
05:16OK, this guy's name has been popping up everywhere.
05:19I'm starting to do my extensive draft coverage, so we'll start making draft videos and stuff.
05:24But Malakai Starks has been the one name that I keep seeing everywhere.
05:28A safety out of Georgia and boy, could you imagine Howie adding another Bulldog?
05:34I mean, they just brought in Ojalary, obviously Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Nolan Smith, Nekobi,
05:39Keely Ringo, Luis Sine.
05:42Could you imagine if they bring in another safety from Georgia?
05:44I just, I feel like Howie has it figured out, you know, draft from the best schools, draft
05:49from Georgia, bring these guys in, they all have chemistry and Malakai Starks I've seen
05:54in a lot of mock drafts so far going in the 20s, mid to late 20s, so maybe he goes higher,
06:00maybe he goes lower.
06:01But if Howie Roseman has a good read on this guy, I honestly think they'll draft him.
06:05I think they'll bring him in depending on what happens with the tight end situation.
06:09Maybe they go up front in the trenches like they usually do, but should they go in the
06:13draft?
06:14Should they go younger or should they go with another option?
06:18And this clip has been out here for some time, but it's starting to resurface again.
06:22A lot of people are chattering about this, and honestly, I feel like it's going to happen.
06:28That's not me reporting, that's not inside sources.
06:31It just makes so much sense.
06:33It feels like a Howie Roseman move, okay?
06:36Here is Justin Simmons, four-time second-team All-Pro, two-time Pro Bowler, very good safety
06:43for a long time, formerly of the Denver Broncos, and he played with the Falcons this past year.
06:48Listen to what Justin Simmons says about potentially coming to the Philadelphia Eagles.
06:54To reunite with Vic and then also the defensive backs coach, Christian Parker, he's over there.
07:01I've worked with him the last maybe four years with Denver, and he was a huge piece of, obviously
07:09there's a lot of rotating coaches, defensive coordinators, and so he was a huge piece.
07:14The stability year-in and year-out, the terminology, the practices, there was a lot of familiarity
07:20with him.
07:21There's a lot of good things about Philly.
07:24Obviously, I think their offense is clearly one of the most talented in the league.
07:29That offensive line is unbelievable, but what the defense did.
07:33So I want to go to a quote here that gives a little more context from this podcast he
07:37was on, the Talkin' Ball podcast, and he says, quote, there's a lot of good things about
07:42Philly.
07:43I think their offense is clearly one of the most talented in the league.
07:45The offensive line is unbelievable, but what the defense did this past season to go win
07:49that Super Bowl is crazy.
07:51You can tell the leadership there, top-down, is by far one of the best in the league.
07:55To have an opportunity to play in Philly, especially reuniting with Vic and CP, is high
08:00on the list.
08:01So, Justin Simmons comes out openly and says, I want to be back in Philadelphia, alright?
08:06And if we go look at Justin Simmons and his stats, this guy's been productive for a very
08:11long time.
08:12He won the third round pick 2016, played a lot with the Denver Broncos, and he talks
08:16about Vic Fangio, who was the head coach in Denver from 2019 to 2021, didn't have a lot
08:22of success, but in that last year, Christian Parker, who is now the Eagles DB's coach,
08:27was in the same role for Denver.
08:29So he has a lot of comfortability, a lot of experience with the terminology and just the
08:34scheme and all that stuff.
08:36And right now, believe it or not, the Eagles might actually have safety on the top of their
08:41priority list, right?
08:42Because they go out and they trade CJ Gardner Johnson.
08:45So what do the Eagles want?
08:46Well, obviously they want to get younger, but they want to bring a guy in who's not
08:49going to cost as much and can still be productive, right?
08:52Even a guy who could maybe mentor a first or second round draft pick.
08:57You look at Justin Simmons, this guy had four consecutive seasons of four plus INTs.
09:02He was the co-interception leader in 22 with actually CJ Gardner Johnson before he got
09:07injured that year.
09:08And even this last year in Atlanta, he had seven pass breakups, two INTs, 62 tackles.
09:14He still had a pretty good year.
09:16He wasn't great, but he was very good.
09:17The Falcons were a little bit shaky and, you know, he still had a decent year and he was
09:21signed very late one year, $7 million.
09:24You're telling me how we can't bring in Justin Simmons for $5 million.
09:27Of course he can.
09:29And he wants to be here.
09:30There is mutual interest.
09:32You bring in Justin Simmons, you let him be the guy to go out there and compete for the
09:37starting safety position.
09:39Even if he doesn't make that, there's not really a lot of risk in this move.
09:42It would be a short term deal and the Falcons don't seem intent on re-signing him.
09:47So honestly, I think it makes so much sense.
09:48You heard the guy himself and the Eagles need a safety.
09:52They need some help.
09:53They tried to sign Justin Reed.
09:54That didn't happen.
09:55And there was a tweet here today from Kendall Beck.
09:58He says, I'm willing to bet the Eagles told Justin Simmons to hang tight until after the
10:03draft.
10:04The Eagles publicly said he wants to reunite with Vic.
10:06Signing Simmons after the draft would not affect Philly's comp pick formula.
10:10So I mean, it just seems like a match made in heaven and you know, Reed Blankenship is
10:14coming up on a contract next year.
10:16We don't know about Sidney Brown.
10:19Justin Simmons is the guy they need to go out, make it happen, get that experience in
10:22here and bring a guy in who obviously wants to be back with Vic Fangio and Christian Parker.
10:29Now lastly, we have one of the Eagles newest players, Adoree Jackson.
10:33He says that he really likes Quinion Mitchell's tape last year.
10:36Quote, I haven't seen a rookie play that well.
10:38It's been a while since that happened.
10:40Hey, we're right there with you, man.
10:41I agree.
10:42I don't think anybody's seen a rookie play like Quinion or even Cooper Dejean in a long,
10:47long time.
10:48Those boys were special and they helped win this Lombardi.
10:51So shout out to Adoree Jackson.
10:52He'll be competing as well.
10:53Oh, and also the Packers are whining again.
10:57They have officially submitted a rule change to prohibit the tush push, the brotherly shove,
11:02even though they tried it, even though they were the ones trying it and it didn't work.
11:06Now they're sitting back and they're crying and wiping their tears away.
11:09So shout out to the Packers.
11:10I don't think it's going to get banned.
11:12Even if it does, the Eagles are still going to be good enough to beat you.
11:15So just wanted to throw that out there, but give me your thoughts on Justin Simmons and
11:19all this other stuff down below.
11:20How do you feel about them?
11:22Should they bring them to Philly?
11:23Appreciate everybody for tapping in.
11:25As always, be sure to like comment and subscribe and I'll catch you on the next one.
