00:00Hi, you guys. How you doing?
00:03Yeah!
00:04I want to welcome you to the Helpful Haunted Sound Space.
00:07I'm Megan Holiday.
00:08Do you guys know that Wet Leg are here?
00:10Are you excited for this?
00:11Come on, make it louder!
00:14That's what I'm talking about.
00:16So what's going to happen is we're going to have a little chat,
00:19and then they're going to play some songs for you.
00:21So how about we bring them out right now?
00:23What do you think? Yeah?
00:24All right.
00:25Please welcome Wet Leg.
00:30All right, Rhianne and Ellis.
00:49Welcome to the Helpful Haunted Sound Space.
00:51How are you guys doing?
00:53Yeah, good.
00:54So you guys, you played a little club show last night here in L.A.
00:58Who was there last night?
01:00Yeah!
01:01Awesome.
01:02So how did it feel to be back up on stage playing again?
01:08Yeah, it's been really good.
01:10We've been away for so long now.
01:13How many years has it been since you've performed?
01:18Well, and you did a show in New York, too.
01:20Yeah, I think we've had almost a year off, I think.
01:23Okay, yeah.
01:23Which can feel like an eternity in band world.
01:27So obviously, when you guys put out your self-titled, it was massive, you know?
01:33And Shays Long was everywhere.
01:35You won Grammy Awards.
01:37You opened for Harry Styles.
01:40So while this was all going on, was it overwhelming, or were you enjoying the ride?
01:45Yeah, it was pretty overwhelming, but we were so new to it all and so naive that you just
01:55kind of would take one step and then take another step.
02:00Yeah, it was mad.
02:02Yeah, right?
02:02Was there ever a moment where, maybe at the Grammys or maybe backstage at Harry Styles,
02:07where there was a celebrity or a musician where you met them and you just could not believe
02:13that you were face-to-face?
02:15Every time I'm face-to-face with Ellis, I'm just in awe.
02:19Oh my gosh.
02:20I can't help it.
02:21I don't know what that is, Rhian.
02:23That's how I feel, too.
02:25But no, never any celebrity interactions?
02:28We did end up at a, we went to like a Grammys party and Paul McCartney was there and we got
02:38to say hello to him.
02:39That was pretty crazy.
02:40Okay.
02:41That should have been the first thing that you guys said.
02:44I'm a Beatles freak, so I have Beatles stuff all over my house, so I would have passed out.
02:49I definitely would have passed out.
02:49It was pretty wild, yeah.
02:51That's amazing.
02:52You should have asked him to do a collab, you know?
02:55Hey, Paul, come on, you know?
02:58Um, so I feel like we should talk about when you guys, you know, you put out this Instagram
03:04post, there was a photo and you said, we're back.
03:08So I think if we can take a look at exhibit A.
03:12So here we have the band wet leg surrounded by some stuffed animals and a goblin in the
03:21middle, I suppose, a goblin.
03:23That's your dad.
03:24Okay.
03:26That's your dad?
03:28Oh, my God.
03:30Okay.
03:31So can we talk about, could you, yeah, just give me a little background about this, with
03:36this photo.
03:39Um, I don't really know what the vibe is with this photo.
03:43It's mixed messaging.
03:45Yeah.
03:45Yeah.
03:46It's probably the point.
03:47I mean, I'm not sure, but the goblin is actually our tour manager, Steve, and he took one for
03:55the team and became a goblin for us.
03:58Yeah.
03:58Steve.
03:59Give it up for Steve, everybody.
04:00Oh, yeah.
04:03Steve is a legend.
04:04I know it's kind of mixed messaging because it's, you know, it's warm and fuzzy and, you
04:08know, oh, innocence.
04:09And then it's a goblin, you know, but, um, but it's very on brand for wet leg.
04:14Um, so say there were, there was a goblin apocalypse that happened.
04:19And who in the band would be the first to get eaten and who would be in the band would
04:26be the survivalist and the one to, to make it till the end.
04:33I think Henry would be the survivalist, but I think he'd get too cocky and he would probably
04:40be Ian.
04:41And then I think Josh would survive because he'd just sleep through it all.
04:46That's so true.
04:47Josh can literally sleep through anything.
04:49He could just, he could just find a cave and kind of hide out.
04:53We'll like wait for it to pass.
04:54Yeah.
04:55Literally.
04:56Yeah.
04:56That's a good point.
04:57Who would be the first to get eaten though?
04:59Rhianne, would it be you?
05:01I would say it might be me.
05:04I just like, I don't know.
05:06My fight or flight is a bit.
05:10It's questionable.
05:12Yeah.
05:12I don't know how well I deal with like stressful situations.
05:15Well, I think that you're doing really great.
05:23I mean, I saw your performance on Fallon.
05:26Did you guys, did you guys see that?
05:28I mean, from the looks of you on stage on Fallon, first of all, you're ripped right now.
05:34You're flexing your muscles.
05:36You look so good.
05:37I mean, your song is called Catch These Fists, right?
05:39So I think you might be able to kick some ass.
05:42If you went into wet leg mode during that, I feel like you'd be able to kick some goblin
05:48ass.
05:49I hope so.
05:49I don't know.
05:50Have you ever tried to punch anyone before?
05:52Maybe back in my drinking days.
05:55Yeah.
05:55Yes.
05:56I want to say yes to that.
05:58But I didn't feel it.
05:59So yeah, it was fine.
06:02But let's talk about your new single, Catch These Fists.
06:06So good, right?
06:07So good.
06:10So tell us how this song come about.
06:13What was the inspiration behind it?
06:14Sort of, to me, feels like kind of being sick of dudes hitting on you and just being really
06:19annoyed with that.
06:20Yeah.
06:22Yeah.
06:22Woo.
06:25Yeah.
06:26It was funny, actually, because we had like the whole, like we had like so many songs
06:30like written and like we were like kind of like ready to like, okay, shall we like record
06:36them now?
06:37And it just kind of like slipped on in there at the end.
06:40It was probably, I think it was the last song that we.
06:43I think so.
06:44Yeah.
06:44Probably was the last one.
06:47Yeah.
06:49Don't really know how it happened.
06:50It's kind of buffed.
06:52It happens a lot with bands where I'll talk to them and it'll be this song that they didn't
06:58think they were going to put on the album.
07:00And then that's the one that ends up being the single and the big hit, you know?
07:04So it's good instincts that you, you put it on there.
07:08Yes.
07:08So the new album, Moisturizer, coming out July 11th, you guys, Moisturizer.
07:17So just tell us a bit about, you know, the making of this album.
07:23And I also would love to know why it is called Moisturizer as well.
07:27So the making of the album, what did we do?
07:32We.
07:34Where'd you guys record it?
07:35We recorded in Brighton in England.
07:38Oh, cool.
07:39And a little bit in London as well with Dan Carey, our producer.
07:47Yeah, I don't know.
07:48I think it was nice going back in with Dan because that's who we recorded the first album
07:54with.
07:56So I think it felt like a really important part of like blocking out like any outside
08:02noise and just kind of like cocooning ourselves.
08:06Like, yeah.
08:07Yeah, you have that level of comfortability.
08:10And when you guys all get into a room, because at this point you and the guys are now official
08:16band members.
08:16So is this a total collaborative, you know, experience when you guys are all writing songs?
08:24Yeah.
08:24Yeah, kind of.
08:26No, it is.
08:28Yeah.
08:28We did a lot of jamming.
08:30We rented like a house in England and we spent like a month just jamming ideas, which was fun.
08:38Really fun.
08:39Did you guys have some wild parties?
08:44I don't know.
08:45We watched a lot of horror films.
08:46We watched, we also watched all of Alien and did we watch Braveheart?
08:51Did we actually manage to get through that?
08:52Yeah.
08:53We watched Braveheart like eight times because people kept leaving the room and missing the
08:58end.
09:00Oh my God.
09:02That's so random.
09:03So random.
09:03So you guys are going to be obviously starting to go on tour and doing all that stuff.
09:11And so I'm half British, my mom's British and she's very specific, particular about her
09:17tea.
09:18Okay.
09:18She's got to order the PG tips from England.
09:21You know, I grew up doing like the beans on toast and all that stuff.
09:24So when you come to America, is the food, is it weird?
09:28Do you like it?
09:29Do you dislike it?
09:30Personally, I find it quite hard.
09:38Um, just cause I don't like, I don't know the spots, you know, like I don't know what
09:43you guys' equivalent of like Greg's is.
09:45And that's quite important.
09:48I don't know.
09:49I feel like you have a good time.
09:51Like you're always ordering good stuff.
09:53Yeah.
09:53I do like it here a lot for food.
09:57Just eating a lot of pizza.
09:59Yeah.
09:59I'm like, everybody loves pizza.
10:01Oh yeah.
10:01That's the universal love language.
10:03We had pizza today.
10:04Didn't we guys?
10:06Yeah.
10:06Oh yeah.
10:07Hell yeah to pizza.
10:08Is there any particular place when you tour in the U.S. that you just love being in that
10:14city stands out to you or is it all a blur?
10:19I really like New York.
10:21What about you?
10:22Yeah.
10:22I like New York as well.
10:23Um, probably mainly for the pizza there.
10:26It's pretty good.
10:27It is good pizza.
10:28Yeah.
10:29Um, I like being this side as well in LA.
10:32It's always fun.
10:34Right.
10:35Um, and LA, I mean, it's like the weather.
10:38You can't, you can't beat the weather.
10:40Right.
10:40You know.
10:41Um, so moisturizer coming.
10:44Now, July 11th, I feel like we've done enough talking cause these people didn't come here
10:49to listen to me talk.
10:50They came here to watch you guys play.
10:52So you guys give it up for wet leg.
10:54They're going to be back in a minute.
10:55Yeah.
10:56Do a little performance.
11:00All right.
11:01You guys, how are you feeling so far?
11:03How's everybody doing?
11:05Okay.
11:06Well, now it is time for us to make it so loud for wet leg.
11:11You guys, how are you feeling so far?
11:12You guys, how are you feeling so far?
11:13You guys, how are you feeling so far?
11:14You guys, how are you feeling so far?
11:15You guys, how are you feeling so far?
11:16You guys, how are you feeling so far?
11:17You guys, how are you feeling so far?
11:18You guys, how are you feeling so far?
11:19You guys, how are you feeling so far?
11:20You guys, how are you feeling so far?
11:21You guys, how are you feeling so far?
11:22You guys, how are you feeling so far?
11:23You guys, how are you feeling so far?
11:24You guys, how are you feeling so far?
11:25You guys, how are you feeling so far?
11:26You guys, how are you feeling so far?
11:27You guys, how are you feeling so far?
11:28You guys, how are you feeling so far?
12:00Can you catch a medicine ball? Can you catch yourself in the fall? You should be careful. Do you catch my drift? Cause what I really want to know is can you catch these fists?
12:16Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Burn down. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Level up.
12:30I know all too well just what you like. I don't want your love. I just want my fight.
12:42We're on our way to the club. Stupid is, stupid does. Limousine, rockin' up. Pray to me.
13:01Get it up. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Burn down. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Level up.
13:17I know all too well just what you like. I don't want your love. I just want my fight.
13:33Don't get pussy, get the boot. I saw him sipping on buck fruit. This always happens late at night. Some guy comes up, says I'm his type. I just threw up in my mouth when he just tried to ask me out. Don't approach me. I just want to dance with my friends.
13:49Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Burn down. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Level up.
14:03I know all too well just what you like. I don't want your love. I just want my fight.
14:14I know all too well just what you like. I don't want your love. I just want my fight.
14:35Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Burn down.
14:42Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
15:12Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
15:42I got the big D. I got the big D. I went to school and I got the big D.
15:55Is your muffin buttered? Would you like us to ask someone to butter your muffin?
16:01Excuse me. Excuse me.
16:05Hey, you over there, on the shades long in your underwear. What are you doing sitting down? You should be horizontal now.
16:18Oh, she's wrong. Oh, she's wrong. Oh, she's wrong. Oh, she's wrong. Oh, she's wrong. Oh, she's wrong. Oh, she's wrong. Oh, she's wrong. Oh, she's wrong. Oh, she's wrong. Oh, she's wrong. Oh, she's wrong. Oh, she's wrong. Oh, she's wrong. Oh, she's wrong. Oh, she's wrong. Oh, she's wrong. Oh, she's wrong. Oh, she's wrong. Oh, she's wrong. Oh, she's wrong. Oh, she's wrong. Oh, she's wrong. Oh, she's wrong. Oh, she's wrong. Oh, she's wrong. Oh, she's wrong. Oh, she's wrong. Oh, she's wrong. Oh, she's wrong. Oh, she's wrong. Oh, she's wrong. Oh, she's wrong. 16:48Excuse me
16:51Hey you, in the front row
16:55And you're coming backstage after the show
16:58Because I got shades long in my dress in a room
17:01With a pack of warm beer the weekend
17:03Cause you
17:05With a pack of warm eres
17:29She's long, all day long
17:50Oh, she's long, she's long, she's long
17:54Oh, excuse me
18:10Oh, excuse me
18:19Oh, excuse me
18:23Give her a hug, she's gone
18:53When she goes on her way to the party
19:08She doesn't need to wait for anybody
19:12Knows exactly what she's done
19:15Watch as she commands the room
19:19The appearance was overrated at the party
19:23To run away at the floor, I see the start to
19:26I look at my feet, then I look at the door
19:29Caught by my friend, so I just take a bit more
19:33A bit more, a bit more, a bit more
19:36A bit more, a bit more, a bit more
19:39A bit more, a bit more
19:41The all comes to an end
19:51We all go again
19:54We all go again
20:03Good times, all the time
20:06Good times, all the time
20:09When I push your brothers and you're to the party
20:13Try to know what you're dancing with everybody
20:16Sometimes, boy, that's hard to do
20:20Unlike you, you've got such a deal
20:23But I don't know what I'm even doing here
20:27I was told that there would be free fish
20:30I don't know where I haven't left yet
20:33Don't want none of this
20:37Good times, all the time
20:41Good times, all the time
20:44Good times, all the time
20:58Good times, all the time
21:02Good times, all the time
21:04Angelica, she brought her rake onto the party
21:07Angelica obliterated everybody
21:11I look at my feet, then I look for the door
21:14Can't help but feel like I've been here before
21:18I don't know where I'm even doing here
21:22I was told that there would be free fish
21:25I don't know where I haven't left yet
21:29Don't want none of this
21:31That all comes to an end
21:42We all go again
21:45Go again
21:47Good times, all the time
21:57Good times, all the time
22:00Good times, all the time
22:07Good times, all the time
22:10Good times, all the time
22:13Good times, all the time

22:21Good times, all the time
22:23Good times, all the time
