00:00It is the world-famous K-Rock. I'm Megan Holliday. We are backstage day two at Coachella, and I'm here with my buddies, Jimmy World.
00:11Hi, guys. So we were talking earlier about how this is our quarterly hang, because you just recently played Acoustic Christmas in December.
00:20Yeah, that's right.
00:21Yeah, so we were due, and it's great to see you in the desert.
00:25Yeah.
00:26So is this your second time playing Coachella?
00:28The last time we played Coachella, I think, was 2011, and it might have been the last year. It was only one weekend.
00:35Oh, okay. Yeah. Back in the day. I remember the paper tickets of Coachella. I remember one time, my best friend Bree and I, we stormed through the gate.
00:46We were crazy, and we crashed the gate, and we got away with it. Yeah, yeah. Now we got to do these wristbands. We got to scan in.
00:55Yeah. This is serious business. I know. You guys. It's, yeah, biometric data.
01:01You got to give a little blood.
01:02Yeah, hair follicle.
01:03Yeah.
01:04Every time.
01:04It's very serious at Coachella. So do you guys have any memories from the last time that you played?
01:10Just being really, it was one of the first big festivals we played, really.
01:16Oh, my gosh.
01:16Especially in the U.S.
01:17Yeah.
01:18Yeah, it's massive.
01:20It's still its own thing. Like, we've done, we've been very fortunate to be able to play, like, a lot of bigger European festivals.
01:28And, you know, it's, the whole scene has kind of grown over the last decade, I guess. But it's, there's still nothing like Coachella.
01:37Yeah.
01:37Anywhere.
01:38It's the OG.
01:39Yeah, it's nuts.
01:41Yeah. And you guys are from Arizona, obviously. So I feel like you guys do better than the average person in the heat. Would you say?
01:49Yeah. It's still hot, but it's kind of familiar.
01:55Okay.
01:56Yeah.
01:56We know what's just being hydrated.
01:58Yes.
01:58You do the electrolytes. You do the liquid IVs.
02:02Yeah, yeah. We know what to expect in extreme environments of heat.
02:08Yeah. Because you're going to be on the main stage here.
02:10Uh-huh.
02:10Yeah. And you know what's crazy, you guys?
02:13Besides that?
02:13Yeah, besides being on the main stage and roasting a little bit, is you're opening up for T-Pain.
02:18And did you ever think that in your life this would happen?
02:22Dreams do come true.
02:25It was on my manifesto somewhere before with him.
02:28Oh, really?
02:28I don't remember. It wasn't right after, but he was on another stage.
02:32I'm actually really excited to watch T-Pain.
02:34T-Pain's a great singer.
02:36You know, like I think people think T-Pain, they think like the hardcore vocal effects, but he's actually like, he shreds.
02:43Yeah, he does. I watched like the Tiny Desk.
02:46Yeah, yeah, yeah, me too.
02:47And he crushed it.
02:48He crushed it, yeah.
02:49It's so funny.
02:50We were wondering how Jim feels about T-Pain.
02:53Now we know.
02:55Now we know.
02:56The K-Rock listeners want to know what Jimmy World thinks about T-Pain.
03:00You know I always ask the best questions, you guys.
03:03Always, yeah.
03:03I'm a great professional.
03:04So if you guys could choose a guest, which maybe you've done this before, but you know there's always a surprise guest at Coachella, who would be your dream surprise guest?
03:18I don't know, man.
03:21That's a tough one.
03:25I know.
03:26Maybe like somebody that would really throw people for a loop, like Zam Fear.
03:30Master of the Pan Flute.
03:33Master of the Pan Flute.
03:34Oh, okay, okay.
03:36Yeah, you know.
03:37I talked to Artemis yesterday and he said Al Gore, which was really, really environmentally friendly.
03:44Yeah, that's right.
03:45Which is great.
03:46Would Al Gore like get up?
03:47I think you might actually clear the crowd if you have Al Gore try to rap or something.
03:52Yeah.
03:53Can you just picture in your head for a second Al Gore rapping, pre-silent?
03:57It would go one way or the other.
03:58It would go crazy viral.
04:00I would watch it.
04:00Or it would clear it out.
04:01Oh, yeah.
04:01Yeah, I'd watch it.
04:02Oh, come on.
04:03I could see Al Gore doing rapper's delight to no one's delight, really.
04:07Yes, yes.
04:08And it would be, he would change the lyrics, so it would be about global warming.
04:12Yeah, that's right.
04:12You know what I mean?
04:13It's very important.
04:14It is, yeah.
04:15Yeah, so I liked that answer, but pan flute is great as well, and I feel like it would
04:19work with some Jimmy Eat World songs.
04:24It's Coachella, after all.
04:26Yeah, it really is.
04:27So you guys are about to embark on a big tour with The Offspring.
04:32Yes, that's right.
04:33Yeah, and the word on the street, which maybe you can clarify, is that you're working on
04:38new music.
04:39We're always working on new music.
04:40Yeah, that's probably true.
04:41Yeah.
04:42But how serious?
04:45Oh, we're quite serious.
04:46Okay, okay.
04:47This is like getting crazy.
04:49There's no fussing about when it comes to new music.
04:52Oh my gosh.
04:52Okay, so in terms of when could we expect some new Jimmy music, when do you think that would
04:59be?
05:00Next year?
05:02Next year?
05:03Maybe?
05:04Maybe, maybe the end of this year, maybe next year.
05:10Okay.
05:11Unsure.
05:11Okay.
05:12At this moment.
05:12All right.
05:12Well, I'm excited to hear new Jimmy, as always.
05:15The one thing that we're certain about is being, again, being very serious with it, and so
05:22it won't be before we feel it is, like, right.
05:27Yes.
05:28It's gotta be right, and we got, yeah.
05:30It won't be before we get off stage today.
05:32Oh, okay.
05:33Damn it.
05:33That is one thing we can't promise.
05:34So if you want to hear new us anything, you gotta watch our show.
05:40You heard it here first.
05:41I got the scoop.
05:42Yes.
05:42Um, where's the weirdest place that you've ever heard Jimmy Eat World playing?
05:48Oh, man.
05:52Obviously, out having dinner, restaurants around town, stuff like that, and it's always a bit
05:57of a shock, but the most, the weirdest place.
06:01Grocery store.
06:01Grocery store.
06:02That's, that's kind of weird.
06:04That's weird.
06:06Well, and, like, if you're at a restaurant, you're sitting there, and nobody realizes that
06:11you're there necessarily.
06:13Yeah.
06:14People don't know.
06:15I was doing a, a spin class on, uh, it's got a point.
06:21Yeah, I know.
06:21No, I know where it's going.
06:22With, like, Apple, the Apple, the Apple Fitness, I was doing, like, a, like, a, like, all rock
06:28spin class, and the instructor, like, had, like, Bleed American came on, and, like, she's,
06:33she was, like, talking to the other, like, instructors, like, and they're, they're all agreeing
06:37it's a good song, and I'm like.
06:39All right.
06:40Yeah.
06:40I'm like, well, I wrote it.
06:41I'm like.
06:42Yeah, right.
06:43No, it was just funny.
06:44Like, it is a great song.
06:45So that was, I'd classify that as weird.
06:47Yeah.
06:48Oh, yeah.
06:48Absolutely.
06:49And, um, have you ever had, or what's the weirdest thing, if any, has someone, you know,
06:55thrown on to, to the stage, whether it's a, a festival or a show?
07:00No.
07:01There's the usual, like, a CD, hey, here's a CD of my band.
07:06Okay.
07:06Stuff like that.
07:07People still doing CDs.
07:08Okay.
07:08Yeah.
07:09Okay.
07:09Um, yeah, glasses, vocational shoe.
07:14Oh.
07:15Demo tapes.
07:16Okay.
07:16Clothing.
07:17Do people, do women still do, like, their bras and stuff?
07:20Well, I got from a lot of time.
07:21Less, it's less often.
07:22Okay.
07:22Okay.
07:23Less often, but yes.
07:24Yeah.
07:24From time to time.
07:25Okay.
07:26That's sexy.
07:27Well.
07:27It's something.
07:30Well, Jimmy World, I'm very excited that you're working on new music.
07:34Excited for the tour with The Offspring.
07:36Yeah, it's going to be awesome.
07:37We're really excited.
07:37Yeah.
07:38It's always so good to see you guys.
07:39You know I love you.
07:40You too.
07:41You too.
07:41It's great to be here.
07:42Yeah.
07:42Thanks for having us on again.
07:43Of course, of course.
07:44Jimmy World, it is K-Rock.
07:45I'm Megan Holiday.
07:46Thanks for watching.
