00:00Hello, it's Martin Dempster, the Scotsman Golf Correspondent here, coming to you from
00:06Augusta National Golf Club at the conclusion of the sixth edition of the Augusta National
00:14Women's Amateur. The winner on this occasion was a Spaniard, a 21-year-old, Carla Bernat
00:21Escudair. She shot a 68, matching rounds of the same score, at Champions Retreat,
00:31where the event is held on the opening two days. And on 12 under par, she won by a shot
00:40from American Asterisk Talley. Talley had started her round in spectacular fashion
00:47by holing a second shot at the first. That was the first Eagle Two in the event's short history.
00:56The overnight leader, defending champion Lottie Ward from England, she burst out of the blocks
01:03and was a couple of shots clear after an opening birdie, then missed a good chance to go even
01:11further ahead at the par 5 second. But eventually, it was the Spaniard who forced her way to the top
01:20of the leaderboard. She was out in three under par, added birdies at the 13th and 15th, the two par
01:28fives on the back nine here. And she was an impressive winner, joining of course fellow
01:37Spaniards, Seve Ballesteros, Jose Maria Lazabal, Sergio Garcia and John Rahm, as Spaniards to have
01:46won here, in their case of course, being in the Masters. The 89th edition of that event gets
01:54underway on Thursday. Scottie Scheffler is the defending champion, having won the Green Jacket
02:02twice in the last three years. Rory McIlroy, who's been in form coming into this event. It's his
02:0911th attempt to complete that career Grand Slam. Unfortunately, there'll be no Tiger Woods, the man
02:17pictured behind me on the wall, on this occasion. He suffered an injury in training,
02:25trying to be fit for this event and he'll be missed on this occasion.
02:29Making his first appearance since 2022, Scotland's Bob McIntyre. Bob finished 12th on his debut here
02:39in 2021, then was just outside the top 20 the following year before missing the latest two
02:46editions. But on the back of his two brilliant wins on the PGA Tour last year and now sitting
02:52in the world's top 20, the Oban man is certainly relishing being back here. We've got some rain on
03:00the way on Monday, the first official practice day for the Masters. While it was pretty tasty,
03:09toasty out there today, the temperature's going to dip into the mid-60s from Tuesday onwards.
03:18But at the same time, the conditions seem set to be fair and as always, excitement is growing
03:26for the Masters. To keep up to date with everything here at Augusta National,
