00:00:00We welcome you to our number two live right here on this final four Friday on the early line on sports grid
00:00:06He is Donnie right side. I am Ben Stevens two more hours to go up until 11 a.m. Eastern
00:00:12We continue to preview both of our matchups tomorrow night in the final four on a Saturday in San Antonio
00:00:19We looked at the first game of which DRS and myself will be live for on sports grids bracket central coverage
00:00:25Starting at 6 p.m. Eastern Time the all SEC showdown between Florida and Auburn
00:00:32We will start this second hour by looking at the nightcap the final of two tomorrow night inside the Alamo Dome
00:00:38The national championship favorites that being the Duke Blue Devils taking on the Houston Cougars will have a final four pick six
00:00:46We'll talk some of final four Friday at the women's NCAA
00:00:50Tournament and a special interview to end out this second hour as well with an eye on the NFL draft
00:00:56Now fewer than three weeks remain until that opening round on a Thursday night in Green Bay, Wisconsin
00:01:02DRS plenty to get to here in this second hour
00:01:06No, there is and also scheduling there for Saturday night's games and you know, if you made me Commissioner
00:01:11We're not starting game number one at 609 and game number two at 849
00:01:14It would be in the middle of the afternoon. The ratings would be exponentially higher
00:01:17But again the Ponzi scheme that is the NCAA
00:01:20They got to hide money somewhere and ruin the ratings just so people don't get angry at how much money they make now tomorrow
00:01:25Here's what I do like about the final four bet
00:01:27609 start and then the second game 849 start two and a half hours built in there
00:01:32You should get a pretty good start time outside of overtime that games gonna tip right at 849 just the way they suggested
00:01:39So I do appreciate that from working college basketball games usually two hours 205
00:01:43To 10 maybe at the most on a normal basketball game, you might have an extra commercial to built in but that's the good part
00:01:50You're not gonna be waiting till
00:01:51922 in this game to get tipped off like you would in the NCAA tournament where it's a little bit closer and compact
00:01:57So at least we get that with estimated starting times that are probably gonna be correct
00:02:01Yes, let's hope so DRS. It will be a fun-filled Saturday night
00:02:05There is no doubt that nightcast scheduled to tip around 849 p.m
00:02:10Eastern Time live from San Antonio. It is Duke and
00:02:15Houston the national championship favorites in the Blue Devils who have been the national title favorites all
00:02:21season long a five and a half point favorite against Houston and a total at
00:02:27136 and a half DRS five and a half point spread in favor of Duke
00:02:32Just how competitive do you think our second of two on a Final Four Saturday in San Antonio is going to be?
00:02:40Really competitive I do and I do think Duke is the best overall team in the tournament, but this is a matchup there
00:02:45That's not like okay. Who's Duke gonna play in the national championship game?
00:02:48This is one of those where you're not gonna be surprised right off the bat Houston takes a 15 to 5 lead
00:02:53I'm being honest because this is a scrappy team
00:02:55The one thing that Duke can do better than anybody else, which you can't teach Ben its length on the court
00:03:01It's size on the court Duke has that and the one thing Houston doesn't have in spades is size on the court
00:03:06But they may get up for it in so many other ways
00:03:08But the tough part about it is like what does Duke not do well in defense number one an effective field goal percentage?
00:03:14Which means they don't fail you they defend the three-point line
00:03:1943.3% inside the arc why because you got to go over twin towers down low just to try to make a layup and you better have
00:03:25That short-range jumper working having said that Houston doesn't rely on we need to make three-point shots to win this basketball game
00:03:30We do everything multifaceted, but Duke is the better team
00:03:33But this is one of those games where I don't look at game number one for myself. You know me. I already like Florida
00:03:38It's unquestionable. I'm gonna bet that tomorrow
00:03:40I'm still undecided on this game because you give me depending on where this line ends up
00:03:45Let's just say gets the six tomorrow. Love Houston with the six Ben
00:03:49We're not getting unlimited possessions on both sides for a team in its home state in an aircraft care playing on an aircraft carrier
00:03:56In that dome down there. I look I gotta tell you I'm feeling Houston a bit I am
00:04:01In DRS unlike our first game of the night you brought this up, right if you're backing, Florida
00:04:06you're probably laying two and a half points because unless it is decided by just a single possession and an otherworldly
00:04:13Thriller which it could be tomorrow night in San Antonio to start more than likely the team that wins
00:04:18The game is going to cover that could be Auburn outright as the dog or Florida as an ever so slight favorite
00:04:24I do think there is a chance that the team that wins outright in Duke does not cover
00:04:30As a five and a half point favorite tomorrow against Houston. That is the type of game we could see
00:04:35that is what the odds makers expect with that total of
00:04:39136 and a half in DRS
00:04:42One of the reasons that total is the way it is not just because Houston is the most efficient defense in college basketball
00:04:48Not just because on the other side Duke is talented at every single level on the defensive end of the floor
00:04:54But of course based on the pace Houston does not want to play fast
00:04:59In fact, they were the fifth slowest team in college hoops
00:05:02Which works perfectly into what Duke wants you to do on the defensive end?
00:05:07Entering the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament Duke's opposition average possession length on the offensive side of the floor
00:05:1719.6 seconds. How long does the do the Cougars normally take to set up their offense?
00:05:2419.6 seconds. I think that advantage
00:05:26Actually slightly favors Duke because it plays into their hand
00:05:31That is the reason DRS this total is 136 and a half. So let me ask you
00:05:36Let's correlate that side and that over-under if Houston stays within this number in
00:05:42Covers as a five and a half point underdog. What does that mean for our total of 136 and a hook?
00:05:47I still like the under regardless of either team wins here. I know there usually is a correlation at this point
00:05:52We've seen Houston play some higher scoring games in the tournament here
00:05:55But also understand the stakes in the magnitude here neutral court final for all the press all week long
00:06:00You haven't played all week. Maybe come out a little bit rusty
00:06:03Maybe it's a little bit of nerves because understand this like these kids are already used to playing in big-time environments like all their
00:06:07Life they've been the superstar on the court and everybody expects them to perform
00:06:11But now you just take it up a level into the final four and also
00:06:14Sometimes been it's stealing free points out here and just take a look at Houston's offense
00:06:18We told you that Duke doesn't foul. Well, Houston doesn't rely on the free throw line, which means then you're saying
00:06:24Duke is ultra-efficient on defense
00:06:26You're not stealing points at the free three-point line and you're not shooting a ton of three-point shots made that makes it tougher to score
00:06:32So even though Houston didn't wind up as one of the best teams in the country by happenstance like oh
00:06:36It's play good defense and let it ride. Well, no, that's st
00:06:38John's out here that'll fall apart on offense at any given time
00:06:41Houston's offense is unbelievable top 10 and efficiency in the country
00:06:45We're not talking about st. John's breaking three-point shot at their three-point shot
00:06:48But when you're looking to get easy buckets as you pointed out them
00:06:51How do you usually beat a good team get out and run if they're extremely tall means they might not be able to get down
00:06:56The court, but if Houston isn't just gonna change its stripes in the national championship final for a national championship game
00:07:02They're gonna play to what they know, which means we don't want to speed you up
00:07:05let's play to our level which does favor Duke in a way at that point because it's gonna make it even harder to score if
00:07:10You're not stealing easy buckets with three on two or two on one matchups as you head down court
00:07:15And this total open at 134 to half it is slightly up but still a rather minimal number for a college basketball
00:07:23Game again 70% of the money on the spread back in the Blue Devils lay in five and a half points
00:07:29In fact, both of the favorites have a lot of money on them. Same with Florida in the opening matchup against Auburn
00:07:36I guess in a tournament defined by its chalk and not so much its chaos
00:07:40It would make sense to back the teams the odds makers expect to at least win outright
00:07:46Drs
00:07:47I think one of the biggest difference for the Cougars this year as
00:07:49compared to the last five years in which Houston also at least reached the sweet 16 is
00:07:55This Houston team is a much better three-point shooting team than we had seen in the past half decade
00:08:01For Calvin Sampson's Club the previous five years never inside the top 100 in college basketball
00:08:08This year the best three-point shooting team in the T in the nation entering last weekend still second best slightly based on a percentage
00:08:16dropping from thirty nine point eight percent to thirty nine point seven
00:08:20The three-point shot is the great equalizer in the Cougs don't need to take 45 like Alabama
00:08:26They just need to be efficient against a Duke team that makes it very difficult
00:08:31Defensively to find efficient or non contested looks
00:08:36Against them that is one of the keys for this Houston team that last year DRS
00:08:41played Duke in the sweet 16 was booked as an ever so slight favorite even without Jamal Shedd or
00:08:48Terrence Arsenault or Joseph Tugler those final two guys at two guys on this year's Houston team and did falter in a game
00:08:575451
00:08:58Yeah
00:08:59And it also can be the great equalizer because as we said football dome stadium two games under the belt football dome stadium on
00:09:04That crier 14 or excuse me 41 percent. You also take a look there
00:09:08What sharp 45 41 percent and also close to 45 percent for his gone. They shoot it and they shoot
00:09:15plenty more breakdowns for this game next
00:09:18Let's dive even deeper into our night cap on a final four Saturday in San Antonio Duke and Houston
00:09:24We have talked about the total it is slightly up
00:09:28136 and a half on this Friday morning
00:09:30But still a rather minimal number for a college basketball contest DRS
00:09:35As you said you're expecting two unders tomorrow night in the opening game between Auburn and Florida and in this second game
00:09:43Regardless of the result both defense is incredibly sound Houston the most efficient defense in college basketball
00:09:50Duke does not make anything easy on that end of the floor
00:09:55Houston the best three-point shooting team in college hoops entering the second weekend of the big dance
00:10:00Where they are lacking ever so slightly is that post presence now Jawan Roberts is their dog
00:10:06But he's not necessarily all that tall
00:10:09Come on
00:10:09Mally watch one of the great rim defenders the freshman for Duke and Cooper flag can get it done on the defensive end of the
00:10:16floor as well
00:10:17Yes, and also you're taking a look at some of these players coming into the final four the first time
00:10:22They're gonna go look at this big stage here in that big arena 85 to 90,000
00:10:26Which does sort of harm me if you know, maybe the second half or even that the championship game is like, okay
00:10:31We want our game here sight lines are fine extra practice on Sunday shoot around again on Monday morning
00:10:36We've been here a few days. Everything's gonna be fine understand this
00:10:39They don't just show up to the arena on a Saturday afternoon. Like hey, it's the first look at it here
00:10:43Oh my goodness. We're playing in an hour and a half
00:10:45They've been there all week long practicing and getting the flow down which is going to help them
00:10:49But again when the bright lights come on, it's a little bit different with the atmosphere around them
00:10:52So for myself when I take a look at player props again, not necessarily looking towards Cooper flag
00:10:57Well, I think it's gonna have a very good performance, but these are still again elite defenses
00:11:01You're not gonna get easy trips to the free-throw line and easy dunks and three-point shots as it goes
00:11:06However, we know Houston defends the three-point shot. They do but Houston allows the three-point shot
00:11:12So if you're collapsing and condensed down low and Cooper flag trying to get to the rim
00:11:16I always find myself going to the guys that are
00:11:18Known to knock down three-point shots and Tyrese Proctor
00:11:21Yeah, one of the best in the country his points prop though is listed at twelve and a half
00:11:24So it's that thought process. Why don't you just take three or four three-point shots because that's really his game at this point
00:11:30But again, don't make it hard on yourself
00:11:32If I tell you Houston is great on defense, but we'll let you shoot the three-point shot
00:11:36I'm not looking at a guy that's gonna make most of his money from 15 feet in and banging down in the pain here
00:11:42I want these guys at the three-point line
00:11:44So Proctor for me is probably gonna be one of those guys that I'm looking forward to along with maybe a con
00:11:48Knipple to knock down the open three-point shot because that's the shot that's going to be available versus Houston. Yeah, they are
00:11:55That's it's such a great point as well
00:11:57It is one of the reasons when you play these efficient defenses and you see the numbers
00:12:01Ooh, Houston will allow you to take the three if you want it sure, but it's not so much if you want it offensively
00:12:08It might be your last resort because you can't get any other good look
00:12:12So you end up taking a contested three near the end of the shot clock
00:12:16But it is a way to do can take advantage Tyrese Proctor six made threes in the round of 64 against Mount St
00:12:23Mary's seven of eight from three against Baylor in the round of 32
00:12:2813 total made triples in the opening weekend only three in the two games in the second weekend in Newark, New Jersey
00:12:36we'll talk about con Knipple in just a
00:12:39Second also one of the reasons that these points props might seem a little bit limited is because you have two elite
00:12:45Defenses and a total of 136 and a half but DRS
00:12:49There is no doubt when you start to break down a Duke basketball game
00:12:53Your focus goes to one spot above all else that is Cooper flag
00:12:57Eighteen and a half points his prop for the final four matchup against Houston on Saturday night
00:13:03Oh, it certainly does and he does it all it's not like hey, you know, you know, he doesn't shoot three-point shots
00:13:08He does everything well get to the free-throw line converts at a high percentage can shoot the three-point shot
00:13:13You know, it's gonna be the focal point of that offense
00:13:15It's just a matter of the fact of how you want to play this game because we talked about game number one
00:13:19Then around 160 this game is around 135. So you're not gonna get as many opportunities with two really good defenses again
00:13:26It's just me sometimes where I say do I want the highest tax bracket on the court?
00:13:31Would you be Cooper flagged and I broom Walter Clayton jr. And again LJ Cryer
00:13:35I just look for secondary options in these big games
00:13:38Which would be so big just again from that philosophy of you're coming into the game as a very good defense
00:13:42You know, you have to shut down the secondary players because trust me on this
00:13:45You're not just going to get all four number one players from each one of these teams being the lead dog scores
00:13:51You are going to get surprises, which is what always happens in a non seven games here
00:13:55Look Wow, they can apply 25 points here
00:13:57Yeah
00:13:58because they had a double team each and every time you threw the ball into the lower block to Cooper flag and he was wide
00:14:02Open for shots that Houston was willing to take as I told you little glad those three-point shots for me
00:14:07He should have a good game. He always has a good game, but in a lower scoring game
00:14:11You're expecting to get 20 as you pointed out
00:14:13Hey
00:14:1417 9 & 6 the damn good game against Houston in a victory for Duke
00:14:18But that doesn't cash you a ticket if you look at the prop bets
00:14:21So for me, I'm probably gonna stay away from the number ones on each one of these number ones
00:14:27Yeah, you're paying a premium
00:14:28No doubt on Cooper flag the entire prop profile if you will
00:14:3218 and a half points for flag
00:14:35Seven and a half rebounds four and a half assists both the rebounding and assist number has over
00:14:41Juice on the over I should say Cooper flag has only gone over 18 and a half
00:14:46Once so far in the NCAA tournament the 30-point brilliant performance against Arizona
00:14:53Khan Knievel
00:14:54Scored at least 20 in both of the games at the Rock in Newark in that second weekend of the NCAA tournament
00:15:01Fourteen and a half points is his prop DRS
00:15:05There are so many different guys that can get it done
00:15:07For Calvin Samson's coups a lot of guys who have been in this program
00:15:11For a very long time a lot of guys that saw their NCAA tournament run come to a close in
00:15:17The sweet 16 last year against Duke that includes LJ Cryer
00:15:21Emanuel sharp Juwan Roberts
00:15:23but Joseph Tugler Terrence Arsenault and Milo's use on did not play Duke last year Tugler and
00:15:31Arsenault injured in that game use on was playing for
00:15:35Oklahoma his points prop 12 and a half if you had to pick a guy for Houston, who might it be?
00:15:41Yeah, it's use on it really is because the ability to shoot the three-point shot make it with accuracy and volume
00:15:47Because sometimes he's hey, look, what do they do each game?
00:15:49Well, he shoots maybe two here two here as of late in the tournament
00:15:53You saw the two but the game before that six of nine
00:15:55I need the guy with the ability when he's making the three-point shot that goes, you know what?
00:15:59I'm not fine with two for three. Let me ramp this up
00:16:02That's probably my guy
00:16:03I'm looking for at that point because I love the three-point shot and I might be contradicting myself with that
00:16:07He loved the three-point shot. You just told me they're playing in a huge arena at this point understand this again
00:16:11Houston already had two looks in two games and multiple practices in a dome opportunity now coming back home to Houston in another dome
00:16:19I think there's a slight advantage for Houston
00:16:21Maybe from the three-point line as you pointed out that they're elite from the three-point line when they shoot it
00:16:27Milo's use in two plus made threes minus 120
00:16:30You're not paying a huge premium just to get two made triples tomorrow night against you a pick six for a final four weekend
00:16:38a
00:16:39pick six for final four weekend in San Antonio and in Tampa, Florida
00:16:45Where the women's NCAA tournament resides for their final four Friday that starts tonight as well all chalk all
00:16:53Weekend long sure. There is a two seed in the women's big dance in
00:16:57Connecticut, but you know Oriyama Paige Becker's AZ FUD they were expected to win their region
00:17:02They have been the national championship favorites since the bracket was revealed for their field of 68 DRS
00:17:09We start though by looking at the men's side a final four weekend in
00:17:14San Antonio and we start big picture come Monday night who climbs the ladder to cut down the nets as a national champ
00:17:22It's the Duke Blue Devils. It's they've been the best team all year long
00:17:25And you know what?
00:17:26I actually have a little bit different of an opinion here on Duke if let's just say Cooper flag played all the way through the
00:17:31ACC tournament and into the tournament itself in March Madness
00:17:35He said why would you say that Donnie because I actually think they got better when he actually went down
00:17:39It was like, you know
00:17:40We're not just a one-man show where we just crumble because we just look at Cooper flag
00:17:45Like hey do something with the basketball
00:17:46We'll all watch like he goes down which could have devastated any team like we don't even know if he's coming back for the tournament
00:17:51Let alone to win that game that he got injured then knock out UNC who thought that they weren't getting into the tournament
00:17:57Unless they beat Duke and they handled them and then won the ACC championship game then came in the tournament with question marked
00:18:03How healthy flag would be and it turns out he's completely healthy and they look absolutely sensational
00:18:07So I'm gonna stick it out with Duke. Do I want to bet them? Will I bet them right now at this price?
00:18:12No, I won't but I can't just say you know what I don't think they're the best and if they're the best
00:18:16They gotta win it
00:18:18Yeah, and Donnie it's really hard to fault that kind of notion
00:18:21Duke now enters this weekend a slight minus money favorite to win a national championship at minus
00:18:28115 again before the year got started a plus 950 price on the Blue Devils to win a national championship the freshman talent
00:18:36Expected has delivered Cooper flag con canipple
00:18:39Come on
00:18:39Mali watch in that starting five but also guys like Isaiah Evans and Patrick Gunn
00:18:44Bah off the bench men did with some of that veteran experience in Tyrese Proctor and a couple of transfers and see on James
00:18:51And Mason Gillis who will play in a second consecutive final four was there last year with Purdue also keep an eye DRS
00:18:59Malik Brown could be back into the fold in a big way this weekend in the final four
00:19:04He was also injured in that opening half of the ACC tournament quarterfinal
00:19:09Against Georgia Tech that could provide even more
00:19:12front court depth and balance for the Duke Blue Devils my pick to start the
00:19:18NCAA tournament is still going to be my pick to win a national championship entering final four weekend. That is
00:19:25Florida I believed in the Gators as maybe the most dangerous team in the final two months of the college basketball season
00:19:31I still think Florida is incredibly dangerous a favorite to beat Auburn
00:19:36I expect them to do that and then I think they can give more than likely Duke a challenge in that national
00:19:42Championship game on Monday again
00:19:44The Blue Devils would be about a four and a half point favorite and that projected and hypothetical spread
00:19:49I think it would be an instant classic on Monday night in San Antonio. So Donnie you go with Duke
00:19:55I go with Florida. That will be my national championship game
00:19:58Do you agree by the way that Florida will be playing Duke and that national title game on Monday?
00:20:04Yeah
00:20:05by the way
00:20:05funny story like here at the
00:20:06Sports grid network in our pool Joe Friesen a producer has me iced out with the Duke Blue Devils and the Florida Gators in the
00:20:12Championship game, so I can't win that but I'll tell you one funny thing that I did which again sometimes I don't pay attention
00:20:17I have another pool that I'm right in the mix for and I checked yesterday Ben and I have Florida winning that championship
00:20:24Which I didn't pick which means I just messed up and went through it really quickly and push Florida instead of Duke
00:20:30but that actually could which so now technically I am rooting for the Florida Gators in another pool now because I have a chance to
00:20:37Win that we're in the sports grid one. I don't because I have to do blue devils because I fat-fingered it so go figure
00:20:42But yes all along. I thought these two teams were going to get it to the final and give us an epic final performance
00:20:48Joe Frieso must correct me if I am mistaken if Florida beats Duke. Do I win the sports grid bracket or?
00:20:56We're gonna check on that just to confirm I do believe I guarantee it not it gets back to us. Yeah
00:21:05Copyrighted so we'll just wait on that
00:21:08DRS, I do think that guarantees me at least top two. Yeah, the sports grid doing a payout for the top two. We shall see
00:21:16I don't need to be Houston for me to win. Ah
00:21:19Yeah, by the way, let me ask you quite is like we can't talk about monetary figures because we play for fun here at the network
00:21:25Right, we don't play for any money. It's bragging rights all across
00:21:27But is your bragging rights for the number one person or just the number one person? Hold on a second
00:21:33Why can't we talk about that? There's nobody under the age of 18 in the sports grid pool. Is there? Oh, yes, there is
00:21:38Oh, yeah, there is. Oh my god
00:21:43Please know DRS is
00:21:46Please know DRS is
00:21:49Kid, is there? Excuse me?
00:21:51Delete that. Yeah, I didn't say anything about money. It's for pride only at the sports grid network. Our pick six continues that
00:21:59For the pride of final four weekend
00:22:02We continue here on this early line on a final four Friday our pick six for what we will see
00:22:08This weekend in San Antonio a doubleheader of final four matchups on Saturday night a national championship game
00:22:15On Monday evening DRS you like Duke to win a national championship. I like Florida
00:22:20I think we both expect that to be the national championship matchup
00:22:24the Blue Devils taking on the Gators if I like Florida to win a national championship then my MOP is
00:22:30Walter Clayton jr
00:22:32Just as it was before the big dance got underway if you like the Blue Devils to win the NCAA
00:22:38Tournament there you see Walter Clayton jr
00:22:40By the way a four-to-one number to win MOP Florida's price is plus 310
00:22:45I would not advise betting that by the way. I just think that is the most likely outcome
00:22:50I'll just take Florida at plus 310
00:22:52I don't need 90 more cents of value so I can hone in on one individual
00:22:58Although a correlated thought nonetheless Donnie
00:23:01I assume the correlated thought continues for you as well if the Blue Devils are your national championship pick
00:23:06The same thing I just spent our number one saying there's no value on Cooper flag
00:23:10But it is just a direct correlation where if I do think to do Blue Devils win
00:23:13He's probably the best player, but at that price point. I won't be taking that
00:23:16I'll be going down for a Tyrese Proctor a con canipple somebody that might be able to light it up from the three-point line
00:23:21But it would be dumb for me like hey
00:23:22Let me take Duke as the champion and then Walter Clayton to win the MOP at this point see what I mean best player
00:23:28On the best team is usually what happens here, but just at that price point at plus 105
00:23:32I won't be betting it personally even though let's just say a 75% chance
00:23:37He wins that award if Duke does cut down the Nets. He's probably gonna get it, but at 105
00:23:41I won't be placing that wager personally myself
00:23:45Yeah, again. I don't think there is value on Cooper flag
00:23:48I don't even think there's value on Walter Clayton jr.
00:23:50If you want to make the argument for best player on the team that ends up winning the title having some value
00:23:56Maybe tonight broom at plus 850 three dollars behind
00:24:00Auburn's price the fourth and longest number of the final four to win a national championship at plus 550
00:24:06But if we want to talk actual value like a big plus money hit for something that could be a little bit random come final
00:24:12Four weekend again MOP only these two games in San Antonio not the entirety of the NCAA tournament
00:24:20I do believe it is the secondary options
00:24:23All right, DRS a final four best bet. Where do you go for our two matchups tomorrow night inside the Alamo Dome?
00:24:31Yeah, take a look at a final four best bet again. It's it's simple for me. I liked it all week
00:24:36I'm not gonna back out of here. It's the Florida Gators at a minus two and a half point price frame now
00:24:40Have it better yet? No am I hoping that it goes to two maybe a little bit
00:24:43But even if it goes to three or three and a half
00:24:45I still like Florida to win this basketball game. It was a no-brainer
00:24:48Do I think both of these games are gonna be tremendous and even once we get to the final?
00:24:51Yes, we might be able to reevaluate some numbers
00:24:53But just for tomorrow's final four games the number that sticks out more than any total or any side
00:24:59It's certainly going to be the Florida Gators at a minus two and a half to advance beat Auburn and make it to the final
00:25:04Who I do think is gonna be the Duke Blue Devils, but for me, I'm really confident in the Gators tomorrow
00:25:09Yeah, DRS
00:25:10It feels like a really good number a two and a half point spread in favor of Florida the Gators entered the NCAA
00:25:17Tournament as the best high major cover team in college basketball 26 and 8 against the spread
00:25:23They've only covered once in the big dance
00:25:25It was that sweet 16 route of Maryland in the second half despite only being up by a single bucket at the break
00:25:32Florida has been a great cover team. We'll see if they do that here against the Tigers the RS
00:25:38I also agree
00:25:38of course that Florida as my national champion will be in that national championship game in one of the reasons I had
00:25:45confidence in the Gators
00:25:47Entering the big dance not just Walter Clayton jr
00:25:49Not just the exceptional guard play of Will Richard or Elijah Martin off the bench for Todd golden
00:25:55But the 611 Aussie that can do it all in Alex Condon
00:25:59He hasn't so far in the NCAA tournament
00:26:03The only game he has scored in double figures the opener against Norfolk State when he scored 12 points
00:26:09He was also injured in the opening half against Maryland in ankle injury that he was trying to work through
00:26:15To return in the second half
00:26:16He did have a couple of big defensive stops against the Terrapins to seal that game late
00:26:22I'm not sure how healthy he was against Texas Tech
00:26:26I know how healthy he needs to be if they are going to edge out Auburn tomorrow night in the final four my final four
00:26:32Best bet and I am excited to actually bet this when I reach, New Jersey tomorrow Alex Condon over ten and a half points
00:26:39Yeah, and also just as long as he's healthy. He should be just fine with that
00:26:43It's an interesting always bet on Condon because he does have some games where he gets into the 20s
00:26:46But other games which one of them I bet look took like one shot from the field
00:26:50He's that guy that has the opportunities early the dunks the putbacks the alley-oops
00:26:54They're the cheap points here and he does get to the free-throw line
00:26:56He just has to make his fair share of those free-throw shots, but he's always it's never a bad bet on Condon
00:27:02Any one time he's around ten points because the one thing you know
00:27:04You'll get Ben his worst case scenario
00:27:06Probably gonna give you six which means there's always a chance for that game that he can get to the ten points
00:27:11Sometimes that's all you can ask for. Just give me a chance to be in the ballpark
00:27:16Drs. There's gonna be a lot of three-point props. I'm invested into that opening game tomorrow just to make one Thomas
00:27:22How could minus 154 that's slightly a hefty number, but if I can get one made three
00:27:27I'll pay minus
00:27:29154 to hot Pettiford on the other side for Auburn who has made at least two triples and all four games for the Tigers in
00:27:35The big dance. Yeah, it's minus
00:27:37126 to hit two threes tomorrow night
00:27:40All right, a special for Final Four weekend a combination of bets a couple of things that we can see there drs
00:27:47What is your special for Final Four weekend in the NCAA tournament?
00:27:52Kept it simple if I'm looking for unders we'll start with that first game
00:27:55Which does have a high total and if you are expecting a lot of points here
00:27:58Hey, look 70 plus points is doable. 75 is fine. Even take a look at going to around 80 points in this
00:28:03How about this bet both teams?
00:28:05Auburn and Florida to neither one of them been to score 85 or more points in the game tomorrow
00:28:11I went with the under on that one in that wager. It's a minus 104 price. Could they get there?
00:28:17Absolutely, but I would not be surprised that we're staring at halftime
00:28:2032 to 29 and away we go into the second half which you would need a lot
00:28:24which means maybe
00:28:25overtime or a crazy final two minutes where they put up 25 combined points to knock that down and also if we do end up
00:28:32With a 40 to 30 game at the break, which is a decently high scoring game
00:28:36Technically, you're still on pace for the under for both teams at 85 points
00:28:40I just thought it was a good number if I'm leaning towards the under why not put a focus on this game here?
00:28:45We're one of these two teams probably gonna enter into the 80s. Just keep it below 85 points. That's where I went at low juice
00:28:52Drs. I like that. Look gonna get a storyline will be at least early
00:28:57Sightlines for these two teams in a big big arena. That is the Alamo Dome in San Antonio
00:29:03You mentioned Houston last week playing inside Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis
00:29:08The Cougars basically had to play a road game in the sweet 16 against Purdue in Indy
00:29:13But played in a football stadium the sightlines could be different from Indianapolis to San Antonio
00:29:19But at least the Cougars get to return home to the Lone Star State
00:29:22Not exactly San Antonio and Houston all that close but still at least they are back in the state of Texas my final four special
00:29:30Khan can imple to score the most points of the weekend
00:29:33One aspect of looking at this DRS is needing Duke to play in both games
00:29:38I think they get to the national championship and although Cooper flag could still win most outstanding player
00:29:43Even if he is not Duke's leading scorer this weekend in San Antonio
00:29:47Khan can imple has been sensational at least 20 in both games in the East Regional out in Newark
00:29:5520 against Arizona leading scorer scoring 21 points against Alabama
00:30:00And you have mentioned it if the Cougs make things difficult for Cooper flag. Who is that secondary option?
00:30:06Khan can imple literally Robin to flags Batman and he has thrived in that role all year long
00:30:13No, he certainly has and that's always a good part to look at those secondary options put it this way of all those four
00:30:18Seeds here. There's gonna be a secondary option
00:30:21It's gonna get at least 20 plus points in his game here in the final four
00:30:24and that's what I'm looking forward to you just have to focus on who's gonna get the
00:30:27Opportunities and who's gonna get the chances to do that and all we ask for this weekend. Look me right in the face referees
00:30:34Don't you dare try to steal the attention in this final four game by calling?
00:30:392,000 Cooper flag can Apple or who's on whoever it is. Leave those guys alone
00:30:44You want to call the first foul and say you know what?
00:30:46You can't be doing that just don't have us robbed of great performances by great players because of tiki-tac fouls
00:30:52That's all I'm asking for
00:30:54Allow them to play with physicality because we know all four teams are really stout on the defensive end of the floor
00:31:02Especially in the nightcap tomorrow in San Antonio between Duke and Houston
00:31:07We round out our pick six by looking at final four Friday in the women's and see a a tournament
00:31:13Who's cutting down the nets on Sunday? Who's that most outstanding player? Find out next we welcome you back to a final for Friday live
00:31:21Right here on the early line on sports grid final for Saturday tomorrow night
00:31:26Of course in San Antonio and the men's NCAA tournament all for one seeds have reached the final four final for Friday in the women's
00:31:34NCAA tournament three one seeds and a two seed but still all chalk
00:31:40Every team that was favored to win their portion of the bracket did in fact do that and that two seed is
00:31:47Only a two seed in number not in name not in performance not in
00:31:53expectation because the Connecticut Huskies that two seed led by Paige Becker's AZ fun and Sarah strong in
00:32:00Coached by Gino Oriyama are the national championship favorites as they have been all big dads long
00:32:07There are the numbers you caught a minus money favorite at minus
00:32:11155 South Carolina hoping for their second consecutive national crown their third in the last four seasons
00:32:17plus 250
00:32:19UCLA the number one overall seed plus 750 in Texas at a plus 850 price the fourth and longest
00:32:27Number final four matchups are this you caught in UCLA in the nightcap
00:32:33The Huskies are a seven and a half point favorite much like in the men's final four in all
00:32:39SEC affair in the opening game of final four Friday in Tampa, South Carolina four and a half point favorite against
00:32:46Texas so DRS as we continue our pick six entering this final four weekend
00:32:51Who do you think wins a national championship in women's college basketball?
00:32:55I'm a long shot, Texas Longhorns here. Give me the plus 850 price. But by the way, like, you know me
00:33:00I like to be Commissioner
00:33:02We're looking to improve the women's game and like up the tickets the men's tournament won't be happy with this nor the fans
00:33:08Why aren't we playing on a Friday night in San Antonio?
00:33:12Then a Saturday then a Sunday then a Monday and having a giant weekend now
00:33:15Here's what the NCAA would do which would upset people in order to buy tickets for the men's tournament
00:33:20You must also purchase tickets for the women's tournament in a 90,000 seat arena
00:33:25So the NCAA does like to leave money on the table, Ben
00:33:28I believe they move it to the same arena and force people to buy tickets. It's more money in the pot for everybody
00:33:33Why are we having one extravaganza in the same city all week long for championships?
00:33:39Well, I think it's great for both events to have their own unique destinations
00:33:44You have two economies that thrive because of it and it's a marquee event for both sides, right?
00:33:49There is that comparison naturally
00:33:51But you have two marquee events where the scheduling logistics do not become complicated in the same city, Donny
00:33:58I would think that the women's final four in the women's national championship game is your exact favorite event?
00:34:04We start tonight at 7 p.m. Eastern between Texas and South Carolina and then on Sunday
00:34:10National championship game middle of the day in the afternoon when everybody is home
00:34:15Enjoying it around 3 p.m. Eastern Time
00:34:18And by the way, you bring up great points here so you start to sway me over to the women's game
00:34:22let's just understand this men's final four on a Friday night epic ratings a
00:34:28Sunday 3 o'clock tip for the men's national championship game would
00:34:33Absolutely break records here
00:34:34But again as I say Ben
00:34:35There is a reason why they don't do it is because they need to hide some of that money and not show the people like
00:34:40We make all this because that's the only thing I can think of I can't imagine
00:34:44And again any time put it any time on Sunday before 5 o'clock the ratings would to me then
00:34:50Double for that game. That's Monday night after 9 o'clock. I don't have any idea why we don't do this
00:34:55I really don't there. Yeah, there is the allure of the prime time window, but I think on Sunday, especially in the afternoon
00:35:03That's when everybody's kind of recuperating from the weekend getting ready for the week ahead. They're at home. They're on their couch
00:35:09They're trying to take in sports. I do agree DRS, Texas a four-and-a-half point dog tonight against South Carolina in
00:35:16Tampa, of course, it was the Longhorns that ended the game Cox
00:35:2057 game SEC win streak when these two teams met in early February in
00:35:27Austin they have already played three times this year South Carolina victorious in two of the three in
00:35:33Columbia and by nearly 20 and the SEC tournament title game just a couple of weeks ago
00:35:40But I expect this game to be close in the game Cox struggled in the second weekend
00:35:45They were tested by Duke. They were tested by Maryland trailing in both of those fourth quarters late in
00:35:54Regulation DRS my national championship pick is where it has been all year long
00:35:59UCLA plus 550 price way back in January when the Bruins were the only unbeaten team in college basketball
00:36:07led by national coach of the year and rightfully so in
00:36:10Corey close. I thought the number would be better if they could see this stage
00:36:15Sadly, it is $2 even longer because they take on UConn seven and a half point spread
00:36:21I think Lauren Betts and the Bruins keep this game within the number. I know UConn has been dominant
00:36:27They have won 14 consecutive games by at least 14 points. I still think UCLA keeps it close tonight
00:36:34By the way, you talk about like, you know
00:36:36These people like to get into the podcast game later on in life
00:36:39Anytime a person named Lauren Betts went to get into our community here
00:36:43I mean what a good DRS Donnie right side Lauren Betts that shows like a great show down there, man
00:36:49That is a great name for getting into that, you know business after you retire from basketball. I love it. I love it
00:36:55We'll see if Lauren Betts wants to get into media or in the world of sports betting
00:37:01Breaking a lot of rules and regulations today talking about collegiate athletes and sports wagering
00:37:05But hey wait for that a different time Lauren Betts one of the best bigs in college basketball
00:37:10She will be key tonight for UCLA because when you have to defend Paige Becker's on the other side
00:37:17Who has been on an absolute heater?
00:37:19It is very difficult to do it is why Paige Becker's DRS and unsurprisingly
00:37:23So for a Connecticut team, that's a minus 155 favorite to cut down
00:37:27The Nets is a minus 150 favorite to win the most outstanding player of the women's Final Four if you con wins
00:37:35Paige Becker's is winning it based on narrative and narrative alone
00:37:38But the performances have been unreal at least 22 points in the last three games for you con
00:37:45But if you think Texas wins and I think UCLA gets the job done then who are who are our?
00:37:52MOPs for the women's Final Four
00:37:55Madison Badlands Booker plus
00:37:58900 B double s
00:38:00Handling her business in the final four tonight and in the final on Sunday at a nine-to-one price
00:38:05You can't pass that up the best player on the Texans women's team Madison Booker
00:38:09She's gonna cut down the Nets and get that MOP
00:38:13I've told you about Lauren Betts now
00:38:15There's a lot to like about UCLA one of their veteran leaders in Kiki Rice as well
00:38:20Who is probably going to have to defend cheeky Paige Becker's come tonight?
00:38:23But I go with Lauren Betts at a 12 to 1 number and some value there for a plus 750 price for the UCLA
00:38:31brewing
00:38:32Live right here on the early line
00:38:35We welcome you to our number three on this Friday to end out our three hours to round out this week up until 11 a.m
00:38:42Eastern he is Donnie right side
00:38:44I am begging Ben Stevens a big shout out by the way
00:38:47Once again to Marcus Harper the second joining us here on the early line
00:38:51We wish him the best of luck in his NFL draft process and his future in the National Football League
00:38:57DRS in this third and final hour will continue to set the stage
00:39:01for the Final Four both tonight in the women's NCAA
00:39:05Tournament and of course our doubleheader of action from San Antonio on a Saturday evening as well
00:39:11Our coach James young JY will join us here in the final half an hour to round out this week
00:39:16But outside of college hoops will also set the stage for this Friday in major league baseball a huge series get started this weekend in
00:39:25Philadelphia and a little bit of NBA talk as well
00:39:28Handicapping some of the best games on this Friday night slate around the Association still so much to get to in this final hour on
00:39:35TEL
00:39:36You know me like I like I'm big into like the the the topics that make some sense
00:39:40Like we just talked to Marcus Harper there, you know, I wonder about sometimes about the playing career
00:39:44I wonder about the swag. I wonder about how we're looking how clean we can be and he was very forthcoming with that answer
00:39:49You don't want to do things entering your boy
00:39:50Drs is a junior like he's the second like is there a reason behind where you can be the second or a junior?
00:39:56Or is it just like what's the difference between that?
00:39:59Wow a great question. Okay. Yeah, is it junior this is a junior the second?
00:40:06Yeah
00:40:08Right, correct. Yeah
00:40:10Like
00:40:12Second third
00:40:14No, right
00:40:15no, like I just think it might be like a way that you can just use that because it's I always thought like the swag on
00:40:20The uniform like my last name Seymour like Seymour jr
00:40:23Like Deion Sanders like always Sanders jr on the back always thought that was pretty cool
00:40:27And then now you have the twos back there like that's extra swag. You look sick that not everybody can use. Yeah
00:40:32Yeah, I like it. Have you have you ever considered going as Donnie right side the second?
00:40:39No, like I like it all throughout my even like my playing career like we never had the option like like put like junior on
00:40:44The uniform which I would have done because again, that's extra swag
00:40:47But I just always find it interesting between juniors and second why you would actually go that route like the third
00:40:52That's a great one. Like you're automatically nicknamed is Trey, right? Okay. It's the third of stray over there
00:40:57It's great and you get the extra swag on the naming rights fantastic stuff
00:41:03Imagine though by the way
00:41:04We have a logo if you did ever go by Donnie right side the second D or s but the s is a 2
00:41:11So it's DRS to this true, but it looks pretty cool. Like now we're talking about
00:41:17Tremendous yeah, like that'd be mad crazier the IV
00:41:21That's it. Yeah. All right
00:41:23So here again our producer extraordinaire Joe Frizzo giving us all the information
00:41:28That we need the difference between
00:41:30Junior and second is that junior JR is to be used when the child is going to have the same name as his father
00:41:36Yes, whereas the second should be used when the child would be taking the name of a family member other than his father
00:41:44Wow
00:41:45That's Wow. Now that's interesting. Now you want to get into another fight around the DRS household in this point
00:41:50I mean, you know, I have one kid by design. It's a girl
00:41:54But again, I've told this story before the wife wouldn't not going to let me name my child
00:42:00After me if it was a boy like now never came to blows because again
00:42:04We had a girl but that point like come on now like that's that would've been the ultimate sign of disrespect
00:42:08That's like saying hey, you know what?
00:42:09The wife's not gonna take your last name and or wear a wedding ring at that point
00:42:13Like I have that right up there with the disrespectful in this now again
00:42:16It never got to you know real anger because of the we had a daughter again
00:42:20But my like that come on now a guy's got to name his own kid
00:42:22Whatever he wants it if it's a son get that out there, but that is a PSA. Let's go, but I think I don't I
00:42:30Agree, but maybe they're paying homage to another family member and that's you get the second, right?
00:42:35Like you're just telling me like down. She doesn't like my name. Yeah, like what's up with that?
00:42:39You know, I mean, come on like, you know, that's just a subtle knock like hey, what do you think of my name?
00:42:44Well, it's nice, but I would never name my kid that like what are you talking about? What is that? Come on now?
00:42:51Still still digs at me in the fields. Yeah, it really does
00:42:55Did you ever hope did you hope that you're you're not good? Nope, not gonna ask it. Never mind
00:43:00All right. Anyway, I get ready for this final four weekend in the NCAA tournament
00:43:06We focus on that men's tournament in our doubleheader of action tomorrow night in San Antonio
00:43:12Give me two money line picks who's going to win both of our games tomorrow night inside the Alamo Dome
00:43:18It was the question we asked all of you and fade the public
00:43:29At sports grid on Twitter who will win tomorrow's final four games Auburn and Duke Auburn in Houston, Florida and Duke
00:43:37Florida and Houston, of course
00:43:39The RF Duke is a five and a half point favorite against the Cougs for a two and a half point favorite against conference
00:43:46Conference mate in Auburn
00:43:48We have two teams expected to win and that's really where the public is going and in a pretty decisive
00:43:54margin nearly
00:43:5665% of the public thinking both of our favorites went outright tomorrow night in the final four Duke and
00:44:04Florida winning and matching up and a national championship game on Monday
00:44:09Yeah, we've seen blowouts in our fade the public polls before but typically Ben it's like just on a question
00:44:14That's like a yes or no or just two answers to be given. This wasn't even like a reply to an other
00:44:19this is for distinctive answers given for the final four and an absolute smoke show by Florida and Duke which I voted for which I
00:44:26Do think are the two better teams and we'll win that but usually you'll get some of that, you know
00:44:30Push back from the public now
00:44:31I don't think so like Auburn and Duke only
00:44:3417.9% and then roughly 8% each for Auburn and Houston and Florida in Houston
00:44:39So runaway victory for Florida and Duke which I agree with but I'm surprised the public is running
00:44:44That heavy here at about 65% in a four-way poll. That's impressive for Florida and Duke
00:44:50Yeah, it really is the RS and on one sense when we talk about this being from a fade the public perspective and things are
00:44:58So publicly chalky do we then want to do exactly that in faded?
00:45:03Do we want to pick one of the two underdogs to win outright or maybe both?
00:45:08In fact, when you look at the fade the public poll for both of the underdogs to win outright Auburn and Houston
00:45:158.4% Florida and Houston
00:45:188.9% so it really does seem as though DRS people and I guess it makes sense would Duke a minus money favorite to win the
00:45:24National title not trusting the Cougars even if it is a competitive game to knock off the Blue Devils
00:45:31Outright Houston has not been an underdog since the end of January when they went into Lawrence
00:45:36Taking on Kansas winning a double overtime
00:45:40Thriller Houston trailed by as many as six points with 20 seconds remaining in regulation. They forced OT
00:45:47they were down by six with about 18 seconds remaining in overtime and
00:45:52They forced a second OT to win inside the fog. That was the only game this year for the Cougs as an underdog
00:45:59They won outright in a double overtime thriller
00:46:03Against Kansas Donnie
00:46:05Again, I think it's natural to say here was so much public love for both of the favorites in the favorites getting that love
00:46:13You want to fade the public?
00:46:14But this has been a tournament defined by its Chuck not only all for one seeds into the NCAA
00:46:21Tournament Final Four, but of course a lot of favorites winning in this big dance
00:46:27This has been a tournament that has defined the chaos of the madness
00:46:30We often love the month of March 4
00:46:33so I do want to knock the public for just being chalky and saying both of the favorites are playing for a national
00:46:38Championship on Monday if there was any year though for it to make sense. This would be that one
00:46:44No would be but also understand this too when you look at the poll 65 percent. It's like yeah
00:46:48Well, it's the two favorites. We're not talking about 16 and a half and 15 and a half point spread
00:46:53We're talking about four and a half to five and a half and two and a half on the opposite side
00:46:56So once again the public saying I like the favorites who technically within a possession or two of each other
00:47:02It's not as if this is a runaway easy victory to pick in this poll at this point
00:47:06That's why it's so impressive that the public is really feeling Florida and Duke is the two best teams
00:47:10Even though let's just say five points or less in both of these games
00:47:14Those are crazy close games on a neutral court after both of these teams have a week off to prepare
00:47:19That's the fun part about it
00:47:20So we'll see if the public and a lot of people just like to fade the public
00:47:24This is giving you great evidence that hey
00:47:26Maybe at least one or both of these dogs can win and if at least one wins on the money line
00:47:30Well, then there you go. You're already profitable for this weekend at the final four
00:47:34We'll see if the public is right or I again rode with the public with Florida and Duke
00:47:39Yeah, listen, I think that's the matchup as well
00:47:41It's been my national championship pick really for the entirety of this NCAA tournament
00:47:47See how it plays
00:47:48We get you ready for final four weekend of the men's and women's
00:47:52NCAA tournament to end out our three hours together on this Friday on the early line on
00:47:58Sports grid to do just that. It's our coach James young jy joining us here on this Friday morning
00:48:04We will go game by game in the final four on a Saturday night in San Antonio
00:48:09And then we'll take a look to end out these three hours and this week on TEL
00:48:15At the women's big dance at a final four on this Friday night in Tampa, Florida jy we appreciate the time
00:48:21Thank you for being here in this big spot ahead of a huge weekend in college hoops
00:48:26What better way to end up the college basketball season will my two good friends talking college hoops?
00:48:35Jy will be live tomorrow night for the night cap between Duke and Houston starting around 9 p.m
00:48:40Eastern time along with Kevin Walsh on sports grids bracket central DRS and myself will pass the baton
00:48:46To jy and k dubs for that second game
00:48:50We will be live starting at 6 p.m. Eastern time as sports grids bracket central coverage begins on final four Saturday night
00:48:57Jy let's begin with the opening game of two tomorrow night in the Alamo Dome
00:49:01Florida a two and a half point favorite against SEC foe in the Auburn Tigers despite being the number one overall seed in the big
00:49:09Dance the Tigers in underdog two and a half point spread in favor of the Gators the over understands at
00:49:16159 and a half as you peer through your scouting report getting ready for this game to you
00:49:22What's the biggest matchup that will dictate the outcome?
00:49:25It's really it's how much can Jani broom carry Auburn you watch it now?
00:49:31Obviously, you know Donnie being on with Kate up during the elite eight after you and I been got off the air
00:49:37You saw Janai broom when he came out of the game first half and obviously, you know when he got injured
00:49:43You saw a completely different team in
00:49:46Auburn so to me the play of Janai broom is going to be the x-factor here in this matchup
00:49:52How much can he carry?
00:49:54An Auburn team to a possible win in an upset even though they're the overall number one seed
00:50:00Why are they an underdog?
00:50:02Simply put 90 81 win by Florida earlier during the year
00:50:05I do believe at Auburn a Florida team that's played by in my opinion much better
00:50:11Basketball over the last two months of the year and an Auburn team. That is more
00:50:17I would say offensively diverse in the ways that they can attack you now. Both teams are outstanding
00:50:23Obviously been both top 10 and adjusted efficiency offensively and defensively
00:50:28They could beat you in different styles
00:50:30But the first team all-american Janai broom is really gonna decide what happens
00:50:35How much did he score and lead this team and the flip side? How much is Todd Golden take him away from Auburn?
00:50:43Let's say we'll take a look at player props coach here in just a moment
00:50:45But if we are lining up this Florida Auburn game that opening number at the fans of Sportsbook here in New Jersey
00:50:50161 and a half now down to 159 and a half again playing in a football stadium dome
00:50:55First game of the final four how we approaching the temple in this game the temple in this game
00:51:00And also does that equate to an over and under in your mind?
00:51:04Well, if you look at both teams Florida a little bit fast offensive possession length about 43, I think Auburn was about
00:51:11140 right middle of the road defensively. You're right first game
00:51:15Now the only difference you're gonna have here
00:51:16The RS is you're gonna probably I think most of these teams probably got to San Antonio. I would say by Tuesday, right?
00:51:23So that would mean Wednesday Thursday Friday probably have three days of practice. They should be adjusted to the sight lines
00:51:29So it shouldn't be as bad as before
00:51:32Remember 90 to 81 game
00:51:35171 points first time out. I think both teams are gonna want to try and score both teams can shoot the ball have depth
00:51:42Obviously neither team really turns the ball over as much of the shots should get up to the rim
00:51:48Let it keep coming down with that full game. I just think this game is gonna be the one that goes over
00:51:54159 and a half that total at this moment. J. Why let's talk about those players
00:51:59Of course on the most significant of stages on a final four Saturday in San Antonio
00:52:04Let's start with Janai broom who has a points prop of 19 and a half for Auburn
00:52:09He had 25 and 14 in the elite eight win that South regional final against Michigan State on Sunday
00:52:16Despite exiting the game for about five minutes of game time with a right elbow injury
00:52:22Janai broom asked about his status getting ready for the final four saying he feels good should be very close to a hundred percent no
00:52:29Restrictions for the matchup DRS a little bit more skeptical. How healthy how effective do you think Janai broom is going to be?
00:52:37Do you have any reservations about his performance and during the final four?
00:52:43Listen
00:52:44Everybody's banged up this time. It's just a matter of do you get banged up and hurt?
00:52:48Where everybody to see it or not and let's be honest Ben when you get to this point of season
00:52:53I've been there or not to the final four nowhere close
00:52:55But you got the tournament time you do have guys that sit out and practice and just walk through the stuff that they need
00:53:02To walk through so interesting prop with Janai broom at you know
00:53:06Obviously a 19 and have only 18 in the first matchup versus Florida, but got 19 shots up
00:53:12I think if this game is going to be close Ben
00:53:15He's got a clear 20 if he gets 15 16 points
00:53:19I don't see how Auburn is even in this game to be honest with you
00:53:23So for that and thinking that the game is closed even though I like, Florida
00:53:27I'm gonna go over to 19 and a half for Janai broom
00:53:29I think he'll be able to carry enough of them to keep this to be a good matchup
00:53:34Let's say we take Janai broom out of the equation here
00:53:37Let's just say Florida's really locking him down and maybe that elbow isn't right if I gave you one player in the Auburn Tigers that
00:53:42You're gonna tell the public to look forward to maybe a betting proper
00:53:44So who's the guy that steps it up for the Auburn Tigers?
00:53:48Well, you gotta look at someone like Pettiford
00:53:50you got to look at someone from the guard spot because what's gonna probably happen is if you if you go and you kind of
00:53:56Take a look at what you may do. You may try and take away
00:54:00Some other players, right?
00:54:01So you look at Pettiford it's points prop looking at about 14 and a half come off the bench dynamo
00:54:07Big time shooter guard not afraid to take the moment
00:54:10So to me, that's someone you could look at. Um, you know, listen, he doesn't shoot the ball about 38% from three
00:54:17So if you want to look at probably Pettiford in regards to maybe three point props double team kick out
00:54:22He's gonna get the looks maybe that's where you look. That's where I look for a guard
00:54:26Somebody could knock down shots in the perimeter
00:54:28Let's go to the other side for the Florida Gators highest points prop in the game
00:54:32JY of course is the magnificent Walter Creighton jr. At 20 and a half
00:54:37If the Gators are going to play in the national championship game on Monday
00:54:41What does Todd Golden's team need from a point production level out of Walter Clayton jr?
00:54:47He's gonna need somewhere in that number and I think this number is gonna be really close
00:54:51I think the way to look at Walter Clayton jr. Is
00:54:54Probably the assist because I think Florida has been a little bit more offensive balance
00:54:58You look at that 90 81 game that earlier in year 19 points 9 assists 6 rebounds kind of junkyard dogs
00:55:04You either want to go assists or assists plus rebounds. That's where I would look the guy I'm looking at
00:55:11You know, I did it with you. I always say his name wrong Thomas how the center?
00:55:15Okay, this guy may play bigger minutes because of the fact that Condon has been hurt
00:55:20Obviously we talked about that Ben when he got hurt last Thursday to Thursday nights ago in the sweet 16
00:55:25This is a guy that's shooting the ball from three
00:55:28From three has a three-pointer and seven of his last ten games one of four versus Auburn earlier in the year Thomas
00:55:35How one made three minus 154 maybe parlay that with a Florida money line and you get yourself the plus money
00:55:44Makes some sense in that because I do like that as well. You give that guy the open shot. He's going to take it
00:55:49You just need one look at that and if it goes down you're winning better in that equation
00:55:52If we are taking a look at that early game that these two played obviously on the road Florida picked up a big victory
00:55:57But now you take a look at this game playing on a neutral site
00:56:00are there any advantages for either one of these teams or the style of play coach because again,
00:56:04I can't get enough where you go from the NBA NCAA arenas into these larger football stadiums that first half
00:56:10Are you gonna panic anywhere? What do you want to see early from each one of these two teams?
00:56:14I mean if you want to wait and see if it gets off to a slow start to kind of figure it out
00:56:19That's probably it
00:56:20The good thing about both of these teams is both teams are top 50% in offensive rebounding percentage
00:56:26So to me watch the board game early on right to either team's bigs get into foul trouble and who?
00:56:33Dominates to offensive glass because I think that's what it becomes key Donnie and games of big arenas who?
00:56:39Secures that offense rebound for a second or third opportunity to get a score
00:56:44Yeah
00:56:44A lot of similarities between these two teams conference foes only one regular season matchup as both JY and DRS said
00:56:52Florida going to Auburn and winning outright as a double-digit dog also
00:56:57Todd golden second ever coaching gig under Bruce Pearl at Auburn
00:57:02They know each other very very well the night cap on Saturday Duke and Houston next
00:57:09our night cap on final four Saturday in San Antonio Duke and
00:57:15Houston JY our coach James young back with us for a second consecutive
00:57:19Segment for the remainder of the early line here on this Friday in JY
00:57:23We broke down the first game between Auburn and Florida the all SEC showdown in the opening game of two in San Antonio
00:57:30The night cap is as good as you could hope for Duke a five and a half point favorite against Houston
00:57:36Total slightly on its way up to one thirty six and a half, but still a rather minimal number for a college basketball
00:57:43Contest I asked you what is the biggest matchup that will determine the outcome between Auburn and Florida a
00:57:49Similar question here between the Cougars and the Blue Devils
00:57:52Who do you give the edge in this game as they face off tomorrow night in San Antonio a?
00:57:58Lot of this Ben is gonna be predicated on the officials and I want people to understand this
00:58:06Houston is not gonna win this game if they're gonna win it, but they're not gonna win it pretty right
00:58:12It's not gonna be a style contest for Houston. They have to be able to use their their their
00:58:19Their age their maturity and their physicalness
00:58:24Versus a team like Duke Duke has not seen a team like this all year
00:58:30But in the flip side neither as Houston
00:58:33So it's going to come down honestly back to the referees and how this game is officiated
00:58:37We did the game obviously on on Sunday
00:58:40And we saw how you know where it gets Tennessee when you let us use to play physical play their style
00:58:46They're gonna lock you up, but if you start calling fouls on them, you're gonna get them a foul trouble
00:58:51So I think the main thing to watch is the officiating crew how the game is called. It should be consistent throughout
00:58:58I always used to tell my players first four or five minutes
00:59:02You got to figure out how this game is called the more physical this game is called the more benefits Houston the less
00:59:09The less they allow it it benefits Duke and also Ben
00:59:13I think that impacts the over-under in the game as well
00:59:18How about the impact on the over-under coach when we just take a look at?
00:59:21Houston actually has played two games in the sweet 16 and the elite 8 in a football stadium at Lucas Oil in
00:59:27Indianapolis now you travel down to San Antonio another football stadium
00:59:30Is that an advantage for Houston that we should play into or just more of the eye candy like don't worry about that
00:59:37Well, I think it comes down to the ability to rebound now
00:59:40I think that's the key here with the physicality if you know if Francis if Roberts of Tugler
00:59:47These guys can stay out of foul trouble
00:59:49that's gonna be important for
00:59:51Houston because I think they're gonna put pressure on Molly watch and obviously Cooper flag and some of the others
00:59:57With them with Duke. So to me, there's where a key component is
01:00:02And if you want to talk about like one-on-one matchup, it's flag versus Roberts
01:00:08That is the matchup that is the matchup
01:00:11There's no I don't care
01:00:12Anybody says that's the matchup that matters because if Juwan Robertson stay out of foul trouble and make it physical with Cooper
01:00:19That's going to be different. Now if I'm Calvin Sampson, I'm running a second guy
01:00:23I'm trying to take away sight lines if I'm Cooper flag
01:00:27I'm trying to go to the cup and use my athleticism
01:00:29But that is the matchup right there right at the four spot
01:00:32Can Juwan Roberts do enough to make it difficult for Cooper flag?
01:00:38If he does the better he does the better chance Houston wins and that long goes with that under as well
01:00:44So let's talk about the prop profile then of course for Cooper flag the biggest star in college
01:00:49basketball the presumed number one overall pick this summer the
01:00:532025 NBA draft the favorite to win the most outstanding player at this weekend's Final Four as
01:00:59Well 18 and a half points seven and a half rebounds four and a half assists
01:01:05Jy in those numbers and in the performance you anticipate out of Cooper flag
01:01:10The freshman on this huge stage in the Final Four. Where do you think flag is able to excel?
01:01:17It's gonna be in the rebounds in the assists because I don't I don't know if they're gonna let this they're not gonna let this
01:01:22kid go off like I just I just don't see that happening because if you think about if I think the game's going
01:01:28Underband and it's 136 and I have to say I think it's
01:01:32130 let's say Duke wins and they get 65 points
01:01:34I'm depending on almost a third of the scoring to come from one guy. I don't think that's gonna happen
01:01:40I think if I'm Calvin Sampson
01:01:42I'm making distribute and make other guys be me particularly at the three-point line and use where my guards are effective
01:01:49We're crier sharp, you know, who's on?
01:01:52Defensively in regards to that matter
01:01:54So to me, I'm looking under for the points pop but flag looking more to the rebound to the Cisco over make someone else beat
01:02:00me
01:02:01If we take flag out of the equation, let's just say the next guys to step up because coach
01:02:05I'm with you
01:02:06like we have enough data on both of these ball clubs to understand the way they want to play both really good on offense both
01:02:11Can knock down the three-point shot and play great defense?
01:02:13But the one thing I always find interesting is Houston will defend the three-point shot
01:02:17But they'll let you shoot the three-point shot when you take a look at Khan
01:02:20Knipple from the three-point line and also Tyrese Proctor
01:02:22Is there a secondary option of the Duke Blue Devils that you would lean towards going with if you're looking let's just say at
01:02:27Threes made or points opposed to just going with Cooper flag
01:02:31And I think that's where the key thing is
01:02:33I think the three-point line is going to be where you're going to make their mark
01:02:37And I think that's where you have to look at obviously threes made now if you try and look at the market right now
01:02:43There can Apple is plus 182 for three plus made threes
01:02:47And obviously Proctor's at plus 130. I think Proctor's gonna get a little bit more intense
01:02:52I don't wonder if Canippa can struggle with the physicality and
01:02:57Regards to how they're being guarded even though Khan Canippa has gotten so much better off the bounce
01:03:01I think they run him off the three-point line of anything because he's Duke's best shooter
01:03:06I like Proctor plus 130 if you go one way and on the flip side of manual sharp
01:03:10But did I watch that game if there's a big shot guy?
01:03:14That's not gonna be afraid the moment and it doesn't matter if he's making or missing it's a manual sharp
01:03:20So if you want to look at three-point props right now in Fandul, they have it as two plus three plus
01:03:24They don't have it at over-under. I would look at a manual sharp three plus made threes at plus 120
01:03:29I'll look at Tyrus Proctor three plus made threes at plus 130 if I go with the three-point props a
01:03:36Lot of guys for Houston
01:03:37JY that can fill it up a lot of guys for the Cougars that were there for the sweet 16 lost to these blue
01:03:43Devils exactly a tournament ago. Is it a manual sharp from deep? Is it LJ Cryer doing everything?
01:03:50Is it Milo's use and providing that spark as well?
01:03:54Offensively who has the best night for Houston in the final four?
01:03:59To me, it's a manual sharp because I think it's ability to knock on top
01:04:03Usually will be comfortable distributing and if I'm Duke, I'm loading up on crier when especially goes off the bounce. It's a manual sharp
01:04:10He is the difference maker and that's why I think the cover to spread and I think they actually steal the game
01:04:15Yeah, oh
01:04:16That would be Houston outright. JY say goodbye to Donnie right side. We got to let him go to the money line
01:04:23Well, I'll see each other tomorrow in studio
01:04:27a
01:04:30Final four Saturday in San Antonio, that's tomorrow in the men's NCAA tournament tonight
01:04:36It is final for Friday in Tampa in the women's big dance in our coach James young
01:04:41JY still here for this final segment on a Friday and this week on the early line to get you set for our two matchups
01:04:49tonight JY much like in the men's big dance the first matchup of the final four in a women's NCAA tourney and all
01:04:56SEC affairs South Carolina the reigning champs hoping for their third
01:05:00National championship in the last four years
01:05:03Take on a Texas team that did the unthinkable earlier in the regular season in Austin
01:05:09Madison Booker and the Longhorns beat South Carolina outright as a slight home underdog
01:05:15snapping South Carolina's
01:05:1857 game win streak in SEC play the Gamecocks did get their revenge when in the SEC tournament title game
01:05:25Against Texas as well
01:05:26Now they face off with a spot in a national championship game on the line four and a half points spread in favor of South
01:05:33Carolina a total at
01:05:35124 and a half. How do you break down the matchup between the Longhorns and the Gamecocks?
01:05:41You know
01:05:42This is obviously round three between these two and then Ben when you really think about it since that loss to UConn where you know
01:05:48They lost their home winning streak. South Carolina has been absolutely
01:05:53Bludgeoning teams that includes a 64 50
01:05:5664 45 win over Texas in the SEC final and they've been drilling teams even a tournament
01:06:03Although that game got a little quirky at times with Indiana and with Maryland, and of course we do
01:06:08I think this familiarity I look at this team in South Carolina. I think they're bigger
01:06:12I think they're deeper and they've been there before although Vic Schaefer is one hell of a coach
01:06:17It's been around for a long long time because it also advantages
01:06:22I'm willing to lay the four and a half versus South Carolina
01:06:25I think they're the better team and should set up for a monumental probably championship matchup where they look to exact revenge
01:06:34JY when you think about South Carolina, they have struggled so far in the big dance
01:06:38They have not covered in any of their last three wins in terms of the pregame spread and in the second weekend
01:06:44They were trailing against Maryland late in the fourth quarter
01:06:47It was a tie game with about two and a half minutes remaining
01:06:50Against the Duke Blue Devils in the elite eight a really interesting matchup tonight between familiar foes
01:06:56Fourth game this year between the Longhorns and the Gamecocks our nightcap in Tampa
01:07:02It is UCLA the number one overall seed and yet a seven and a half point underdog
01:07:08Against, you know, Oriyema Paige Becker's and
01:07:11UConn the Huskies a minus money favorite to win the national championship and a seven and a half point favorite in the final
01:07:19Four will this game JY be more competitive than the odds makers expect or will Connecticut who has won 14?
01:07:26consecutive games by at least 14 points
01:07:29Continue to steamroll the opposition
01:07:32And really quick before we get to Malaysia for Wiley over 12 and a half points member folks. She gets 20 plus minutes
01:07:37She's 14 to 4 to go over that number should be able to get there 2 of 10 in the SEC
01:07:42Final when she did not I get that versus Texas now up to this game
01:07:46They've looked really good. Now. The problem you kindness is sometimes they start slow
01:07:51So I would not blame you if you waited this out
01:07:55I did this when we were with Ben and I did it together last weekend. They were I think down or up down three
01:08:02I took a mighty seven after beat Oklahoma by like 30
01:08:05So I wouldn't mind you waiting this out a little bit
01:08:08But I will lay to seven have points and here's the thing
01:08:11Naismith coach here Corey clothes, although I disagreed that she got it
01:08:15I'm gonna look at how she's gonna defend and how I would defend her
01:08:19I ain't letting Paige go all so where I would look
01:08:23Paige Becker's over four and a half assists over seven of her last 12 games and that's the way I do it
01:08:30Remember two games you miss by the hook. You got to make other people beat you
01:08:34The problem is with Chen with Fudd with strong
01:08:38They have enough other players do it as well. You can't minus a point page over four and a half assists
01:08:44Paige Becker's 34 points in the round of 32 win against South Dakota State 40 in the sweet 16 against Oklahoma
01:08:5131 on Monday night against USC
01:08:54JY when all is said and done at the end of this weekend in the women's NCAA tournament on Sunday evening
01:09:00Who calls a home a national champion?
01:09:03I've said it Ben you notice for the better part of two months
01:09:06I think UConn is the best team page is playing her best basketball since their freshman year
01:09:11I keep feeling in some crazy mind
01:09:14This is Gino swan song and what better way to send out the greatest coach and women's basketball history
01:09:20Although my my old colleague or my old friend Kimiko Williams would play for Pat summit would disagree with with that
01:09:26I would say this they win it Gino hangs it up after the season. Oh
01:09:31Now that would be something and if you have that breaking news to report you better stink and do it
01:09:37JY I'll see you tomorrow night as we get ready for sports grids bracket central coverage
01:09:42Although we will not be working together. Of course
