34:12the deadline. TDP had
34:14demanded an extended deadline beyond
34:166 months and that also had been
34:18amended. So 3 key
34:20amendments which were proposed by our party
34:22had been accepted
34:24today and 25 amendments by the JPC
34:26had been accepted. So it clearly
34:28indicates that TDP
34:30is for the welfare of the minorities

34:38income of the work board

34:42of the work board was 146 crore
34:44and today it had gone down to
34:4610 crore in 24-25

45:54I am in Thiruchendurai in Tamil Nadu, the place that Union Minority Affairs Minister
46:00Kiran Rajiju mentioned in his parliamentary speech last year, when he first introduced
46:05the Waqf Amendment Bill.
46:07In his speech he said that the Tamil Nadu Waqf Board had declared the entire village,
46:12including this 1500 year old Chola temple as Waqf property.
46:18Soon after his speech, the team of India Today was here to find out what the residents felt.
46:23And the residents of the village were looking forward to the bill being passed, so that
46:27none of the other villages have to go through what they went through.
46:46Taking away the properties without any good valid reason, without any valid documents
46:52and even taking away the very good old temples that have been existing for over thousands
46:58of years arbitrarily, that is very condemnable.
47:03That's why this bill mainly aims at curbing these powers.
47:09All people have been registered, there is no record of Waqf Board.
47:15So we have registered at the time of 1959-60.
47:20So after 40 years, we are the ancestors of this village.
47:30I am not having any objection.
47:33This bill is very welcome.
47:35My house is at least 100 years old and the temple here is more than 1500 years old.
47:44And suddenly Waqf Board says the entire village and the temple belongs to them.
47:48I am really surprised.
47:50They say even Taj Mahal belongs to them.
47:53So it is ideally correct, Modi ji will do something good and pass the bill.
47:58It's unwontedly the Tamil Nadu government saying that it is against Muslims.

48:11It all began in 2022, when a farmer named Raj Gopal was trying to sell 1.5 acres of
48:18his land.
48:20The sub-registrar's office informed him that his land belonged to the Waqf Board.
48:25In fact, not just his land, the entire village was part of the Waqf Board.
48:28And that is when the villagers came to know that such a Board exists and that they are
48:32claiming ownership over their land.
48:38Waqf Board doesn't even have a place on this land.
48:42But now they are fraudulently claiming that Waqf Board belongs to them.
48:47The Waqf Board doesn't even have a place on this land.
48:49They don't even show us any evidence.
48:51They haven't given us any evidence.
48:53The leaders of Chandrasekharaswamy temple visited the Waqf Board.
48:58There is no evidence of any inscriptions or anything like that.
49:03Our Tamilians have been told that it was given to them by Paranthaka Chola.
49:07They should give us such details.
49:10This is our land and we won't give it to the Waqf Board.
49:17After protests by villagers, a peace meeting was held between all stakeholders.
49:23The district collector then informed the villagers that they could buy and sell land
49:27without obtaining an NOC from the Waqf Board.
49:30But this was only a temporary relief because the villagers were still unsure
49:34of the status of land ownership.
49:36With this bill, villagers hope that a more permanent solution is achieved
49:41and the villagers no longer need to prove ownership of their own land.
