00:13upcoming regional elections on May 25th.
00:19In Myanmar, the 7.7 earthquake left at least 2,056 dead, 3,900 injured and 270 people missing.
00:34And in Palestine, Israeli forces have killed more than 1,000 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip
00:39since the ceasefire was broken.
00:46Hello and welcome to From the South, I'm Ana Marrero from the Telesur headquarters
00:49in Caracas, Venezuela.
00:51Now we will begin with the news to stay with us.
01:06In Venezuela, the grey patriotic poll presents the candidates that will participate in the
01:10upcoming regional elections on May 25th.
01:13The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, announced that the elections of governors,
01:17legislators for each state's legislative councils and deputies to the National Assembly
01:23for the 2025-2031 period will be held next May 25th.
01:28Likewise, during the event, the president of the Special Electoral Commission of the
01:33United Socialist Party of Venezuela, Diosdado Cabello, highlighted that candidates were
01:38elected by the democratic participatory and proactive elections.
01:41Moreover, they emphasized that the first time the state of Guyana Esquiva would participate
01:47in the regional elections.
01:48We have been working tirelessly on all issues, always working and always following up on
02:06all the battle fronts in the political electoral sphere.
02:14We have a very important date as a country on Sunday, May 25th, where the people of Venezuela
02:23will go out to elect the National Assembly for the period 2026-2031 and to elect the
02:3424 governors of the 24 states of the country.
02:41For his part, the president of the Special Electoral Commission of the United Socialist
02:45Party of Venezuela, Diosdado Cabello, highlighted that this year, for the first time, Governor
02:49of Guyana Esquiva will be elected.
02:54Besides the elections of governors, there is also the elections of the National Assembly
03:01of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, the deputies, and besides deputies, from our
03:10Guyana Esquiva.
03:15The governor of the state of Guyana Esquiva will be elected for the first time, fulfilling
03:23a mandate of the president given by the people of Venezuela through the referendum that was
03:31carried out in our country.
03:33Also in Venezuela, this Monday, the Prosecutor's Office fully denounced the kidnapping of national
03:40migrants by the government of El Salvador and the United States, describing it as criminal
03:44crime against humanity.
03:47In this way, the Venezuelan Attorney General, Tarek Williams, condemned the arbitrary detentions
03:51by the U.S. government and the criminalization of national migrants, most of whom had no
03:57criminal records but were detained allegedly due to links with the existing criminal organization
04:02Tren de Aragua.
04:03He further condemned the mistreatment of the Venezuelans who are currently kidnapped in
04:09El Salvador as a high-security prison.
04:11The Attorney General referred to the kidnapping as a crime against humanity, since he intends
04:18the criminalization based on nationality in an absolute violation of international law.
04:36And I'm going to typify it like this from the beginning.
04:40This becomes a crime against humanity, because there are all the assumptions that, although
04:48the Rome Statute consults, registers, so that an action of this caliber is typified
04:54as a crime against humanity.
04:58First, because it is discrimination against a nationality.
05:04What is nationality to be Venezuelan?
05:08That has nothing to do with it.
05:12That is an absolute violation of the Rome Statute and of the International Covenant
05:17on Civil and Political Rights of the UN.
05:20El Salvador signed the Rome Statute.
05:25Therefore, it is violating it, since they are detained and deported for being Venezuelans.
05:31Second, they have suffered cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment.
05:37Third, they have been illegally deprived of their freedom, apart from having violated
05:43their physical integrity.
05:45The Attorney General of Venezuela reiterated that none of the Venezuelan migrants kidnapped
05:53in El Salvador were the ones that dismantled the gun in Aragua, Nuremberg, and Uruguay
05:58and ran against them.
06:04And they have no clue, no clue that these Venezuelans are being linked to a dismantled
06:09gang in this country called Tren de Aragua, whose main members are detained in Venezuela,
06:24more than 50.
06:26Another large group of that gang, in confrontations, were neutralized.
06:32And another group has been given the order of arrest and a red alert.
06:36I want to highlight, because we have seen it like this, based on official lists that
06:41have circulated, that no one is on the list of arrest warrants that the Public Prosecutor's
06:52Office has issued with a request for a red alert to Interpol.
06:59None of the unofficial lists that we have seen.
07:04Despite the order of U.S. courts, 17 new Venezuelan migrants were deported from the United States
07:10and sent to the terrorist confinement center in El Salvador, with the allegations that
07:15they belong to the stinting criminal organization Tren de Aragua, the Donald Trump administration,
07:21for the Venezuelans in maximum security prison in El Salvador, violating all legal regulations
07:26and their human rights.
07:27The migrants are added to the 238 that previously had been kidnapped in the same way.
07:33U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has confirmed the transfer of the migrants under the Obsolete
07:38Island Enemy Act, which is as usual due to the processes spelled out by the U.S. Constitution.
07:50The Bolivarian Islands, for the People's of America's People's Trade Treaty, participated,
07:55reviewed a political road map established among the member states, which ratifies their
08:00commitment to the defense of peace, stability, and sovereignty of the People's of America
08:04and the Caribbean.
08:05Through a communiqué of OTCP Express, we reject and denounce the criminalization of
08:11the migration phenomenon and, therefore, the massive deportations and inhuman treatment
08:17of the U.S. government against migrants, being the main responsible for this migration of
08:22thousands of people due to the imposition of unilateral courts and measures, which generate
08:27instability in several regions of the world.
08:29They force a change in the policy of legitimately free, sovereign, and independent states.
08:35Likewise, the document points out, we reiterate our gratitude and recognition of the Cuba
08:41Medical Cooperation Program, which saved countless lives and represents a very important part
08:47of our region's health systems, including in countries of the islands and others in
08:52the region.
08:53And in this context, we strongly reject the administrative measures and political pressure
08:58imposed by the government of the U.S., which attempts to deprive states of their legitimate
09:03rights to implement solidarity programs, to promote well-being, and the access to health.
09:15And in the United States, the United Farm Workers of America mobilized on Monday in
09:20solidarity with poor migrants.
09:22In the California city of Delano, the members of the union organization, together with thousands
09:27of people, expressed their support to those who work in the country and were illegally
09:33imprisoned in El Salvador.
09:35In that sense, the demonstrators reject the unimmigrant and racist measures prompted by
09:42Trump's administration.
09:43Considering the flags and banners, the protesters questioned the criminal actions of the government,
09:48assuring that the migrant labor force contributes to the economy of the North American country.
09:54Let's take a very short break, but don't go away because we'll be right back.
10:08Stay with us.
10:09Welcome back to From the South.
10:30The president of Mexico, Claudia Chambon, explained that they are taking measures to
10:34fade the future imposition of tariffs by the United States government.

10:42will be safe from the 25 percent export tariff set by her U.S. counterpart, Donald Trump.

11:46for what is going to happen on April 2nd.
11:51But that is a measure that President Trump is taking.
11:56What do we do about it?
11:57Well, we are looking for the best conditions for our people and for the nation.
12:02And we have a plan that will be presented in due time to face this situation.

12:15of the social reform promoted by the government.
12:17The rallies aimed to raise awareness about the need to improve working conditions for
12:22teachers.
12:23In addition, it is suspected that for this day, the union organization will deliver a
12:28list of amounts to the government in which data exposes their proposals in order to achieve
12:35better working conditions for the nation's teachers.
12:37The union argued that Colombia is the country where the people struggle and senators of
12:42the Seventh Commission get paid, in reference to the comedy The Sangs that deliver reform
12:46promoted by the government.
