00:15of Venezuelan migrants by the United States, and called sending them to El Salvador a kidnapping
00:20maneuver.
00:23The Patria International Colloquium kicked off in Havana, Cuba, with nearly 400 guests
00:28from Cuba and 47 countries, who will pay a special homage to the 20th anniversary of
00:32the multi-platform TELESUR.
00:37And in Yemen, a series of demonstrations called Stand with Gaza, in support of the Palestinian
00:41enclave, began on Monday.
00:51Hello and welcome to From the South, I'm Luis Alberto Matos from TELESUR Studios in Caracas,
00:55Venezuela.
00:56We begin with the news, stay with us.
01:11The President of Venezuela's National Assembly, Jorge Rodriguez, rejected Monday the criminalization
01:17of Venezuelan migrants by the United States, and called sending them to El Salvador a kidnapping
01:22maneuver.
01:23Rodriguez described the decision as inhumane, and denounced that Venezuelan migrants are
01:27being humiliated in the United States by taking them away from the workplaces, educational
01:32centers and public places as alleged criminals.
01:35Rodriguez also revealed that the Trump administration offered $6,000 to El Salvador for each Venezuelan
01:41migrant accepted in that country.
01:57And the Patria International Colloquium kicked off in Havana, Cuba, an event that brings
02:01together in the Cuban capital nearly 400 guests from Cuba and 47 countries, who will pay a
02:07special homage to the 20th anniversary of the multi-platform TELESUR.
02:11With the laying of a brief to the Julio Antonio Meya Monument by the hands of the President
02:15of the Multi-Platform, Patricia Villegas, the fourth edition started at the University
02:20of Havana, the main venue of this event.
02:22Under the premise, we are peoples within networks, the event will be held from March 17th to
02:27March 19th, aiming to explore how power is transformed in an interconnected world.
02:33Until Wednesday, attendees will participate in conferences, panels and workshops to discuss
02:38the unprecedented possibilities of social interaction in a context marked by the rise
02:43of misinformation, hate speech and manipulation.
02:53And Panamanian Power Grid was re-established on Sunday after the outage suffered on Saturday
02:58night due to the explosion of a transformer.
03:01On a press briefing, the National Authority for Public Authorities explained that after
03:06an exploratory visit to the Pan Am thermoelectric plant in the Chorrera district, they confirmed
03:12that the blast left no human losses and no injuries.
03:15The visit served to corroborate the cause of the power outage.
03:19Administrator of the National Authority, Salma Rodriguez, informed that an investigation
03:24will be opened Monday to know thoroughly the event's causes.
03:34And elections were held this Sunday in the two polling stations in Tegucigalpa, the capital
03:38of Honduras, that did not take part in the March 9th elections.
03:43Voters at the Maximiliano Zagastume Basic Center and the National Institute of Culture
03:47were unable to exercise their right to vote due to irregularities in the delivery of electoral
03:52material.
03:53As a result, the country's National Electoral Council decided in accordance with the electoral
03:57law that the missing senators would have to carry out the process this weekend, which,
04:02according to the electoral authorities, was successfully completed this time.
04:14And in Guatemala, the people of Ixcan, Quiche, are dismayed by the death of three fighters
04:19who defended their right to the health of the marginalized.
04:22With a caravan, they pay tribute to the commitment they fulfilled until the end.
04:27Watch the following story by our correspondent, Santiago Botón.
04:30A mother, with her son in her arms, joined a crowd that came out to dignify three social
04:38activists who died in a traffic accident while returning from the Guatemalan capital to demand
04:43the right to health for the Ixcan eco-people.
04:47We return with sad and regrettable news that today leaves us with a great void within the
04:51people of Ixcan and within the entire committee of struggle.
04:56Among the deceased are a professional nurse and two community authorities, one of whom
05:02is Pedro Ricardo Gómez, re-elected on January 30, who swore to defend his land and just
05:08cause us.
05:11It is unthinkable that we should have to ask for projects, but hopefully the death of these
05:15three brothers will make our rulers aware of the neglect they have done to their people.
05:23In Guatemala, more than 40% of the population does not have decent access to health care.
05:29In the municipality of Ixcan, it is even more critical because eight years ago a hospital
05:34project was abandoned due to corruption, according to those affected.
05:40What we want is the continuity of the hospital, that it be completed because we want dignified
05:44care for our population, and that was our objective for the trip.
05:49The fight for the right to health care, denied by the state, is only part of a long battle
05:55that several of the more than 200 marginalized communities have been waging since they settled
06:00the land more than half a century ago, they say.
06:05We have this history of struggle and resistance and this is the reality of Primavera, but
06:09we take these steps in defense of human rights, for the common good of the community and of
06:13the municipality and at the national level.
06:18The death of these three health martyrs coincides with the 43rd anniversary of the first massacre
06:23perpetrated by the army in Ixcan.
06:27The Cuarto Pueblo massacre marked the beginning of the scorched earth policy in Guatemala.
06:32The army killed more than 400 people, including children, the elderly and pregnant women in
06:37the village of Cuarto Pueblo, Ixcan, on March 13th and 14th, 1982.

06:57We're going to be right back, stay with us.
07:17Welcome back.
07:32In Yemen, a series of demonstrations called Stand with Gaza in support of the Palestinian
07:37enclave began on Monday.
07:38Tens of thousands mobilized in the capital city of Sanaa to support the Palestinian people
07:43and condemn the new U.S. aggressions against Yemen within the framework of the Great Battle
07:48of Badr.
07:49Nearly 14 governorates prepared to attend the popular demonstrations, which are taking
07:53place in hundreds of squares in the country.
07:56The Yemeni leaders underlined that these mobilizations confirm the steadfastness of the people in
08:01their faith and jihadist stance in support of the Palestinian people and against the
08:06U.S. aggression.
08:14Venezuela condemned the bombing of Yemen and the escalation of violence in West Asia.
08:20In an official communique, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela strongly condemns the
08:24military intervention of the United States and the United Kingdom in the territory of
08:28Yemen, an action that violates the sovereignty of that nation and aggravates the already
08:34critical humanitarian situation.
08:36These attacks only add more destruction and suffering to the Yemeni people without providing
08:41any real solution to the problems facing the region.
08:44The current situation of instability in West Asia has a clear origin, the occupation and
08:49genocide against the Palestinian people.
08:52Almost 80 years of aggression, exclusion and violence against Palestine have led to a long-term
08:58conflict, which consequences affect the whole region.
09:02Peace would only be possible when the legitimate right of the Palestinian people to self-determination
09:06is restored.
09:08The document added, Venezuela demands the immediate cessation of attacks against Yemen
09:13and calls on the international community to stop this new military escalation.
09:17The way to achieve peace in the region is the immediate return to international legality,
09:22compliance with the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council on Palestine and
09:27the immediate cessation of any hostility towards the peoples of the region.
09:39Meanwhile, Palestinian health ministry experts warn of an unprecedented mental health crisis
09:45in the enclave due to the occupation's brutal violations.
09:48Recently, both Palestinians and Israeli human rights organizations condemned the kidnapping
09:54of two children by genocidal forces after the murder of their grandmother.
09:58Samad Yarb, former head of the ministry's mental health department, says that such incidents
10:03are repeated daily and have wreaked havoc on the mental health of Gazans, especially
10:07children.
10:08The expert says that these scars extend across generations.
10:23And Palestine denounces that 80% of Gaza's population is facing an acute food crisis
10:28due to the Israeli blockade of humanitarian aid.
10:31Sixteen days after the closure of the border crossings, the situation has worsened and
10:35threatens to provoke an unprecedented famine.
10:38Health authorities claim that most bakeries have closed due to the lack of supplies and
10:42drinking water, affecting almost the entire Gazan population.
10:46They warn that Israel's interruption of energy and fuel supplies would worsen the
10:50functioning of essential services and facilities in the Palestinian territories.
11:02Also in Palestine, the World Food Programme has warned of drastic price rises in the Gaza
11:07Strip, with some products up by more than 200%.
11:11The programme, which is affiliated to the United Nations, has pointed out that the blockade
11:15of humanitarian aid is the main cause of this situation and that women and children are
11:20the most affected.
11:21It called on the genocidal Israeli authorities to prioritize the needs of the civilian population
11:25and allow vital humanitarian aid into the country for the Palestinian people.
11:30The agency also warned of the critical food situation in Gaza and appealed to the international
11:35community for 242 million euros to continue its operations in the region for the next
11:40six months, both in Gaza and the West Bank.
11:52Moving on to another continent, in Africa, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the
11:57health crisis is worsening as a result of the forced displacement of the population
12:01due to the armed conflict.
12:03The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs has denounced that
12:07370,000 people have been displaced by violence in the province of South Kibu since February.
12:13It also denounced violations of international humanitarian law, including nearly 400 cases
12:18of sexual violence.
12:19The UN also warned of an increase in disease, despite the delivery of food and water.
12:24The report warns of a cholera outbreak in the region, with more than 240 cases reported
12:28and at least 10 deaths.
12:36And the government of Rwanda announced on Monday the rupture with immediate effect of
12:40diplomatic ties with Belgium.
12:42The president of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, accuses Belgium of maintaining neo-colonial illusions
12:47because of its pressures concerning the conflict in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
12:51For this reason, he gave 48 hours to the European nation's diplomats to leave the
12:55country.
12:56The government accuses Belgium of systematically undermining Rwanda both before and during
13:01the current escalation of the conflict in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, in which
13:05Brussels has a deep and violent historical role, fueling ethnic extremism.

14:27the full force of the command and the support of the Chinese people.

15:05Recent Ukrainian attacks against Russia have focused on refineries, fuel depots and other
15:09oil industry facilities.
15:19Russian authorities announced that Ukraine lost more than 68,000 soldiers in military
15:24operations in Kursk.
15:26The Ministry of Defense informed that in the last 24 hours, the Russian army eliminated
15:29more than 280 Ukrainian servicemen and destroyed military tanks, infantry fighting vehicles
15:34and armored personnel carriers.
15:37He also said that Ukraine has lost 396 tanks, 319 infantry fighting vehicles, 2,200 armored

15:49systems.
15:50The Russian Ministry of Defense announced the liberation of the city of Sutsa, Kursk
15:54region, the largest locality occupied by Ukraine in August 2024, during an offensive.
16:09And on Sunday, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky appointed Andrei Natov as the new
16:14chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff.
16:16He replaces Lieutenant General Anatoly Barilevich, who has now been appointed chief inspector
16:22of the Ministry of Defense.
16:24For his part, Defense Minister Rustem Umedov explained that the restructuring aims to improve
16:28the combat effectiveness of the armed forces.
16:31The new chief has served as commander of the joint forces and was also the commander of
16:35the Eastern Front.
16:49In the Ivory Coast, a famous painter dedicates his talent to teach and inspire new young
16:53artists in order to find their own creative path.
16:56Let's see more in the following work.
17:00Abudia, a renowned painter from the Ivory Coast, transmits his knowledge and teachings
17:08to a new generation of artists, especially to children, in order to guide them to find
17:13their own creative path and their first inspiration on canvas.
17:17Although he is now one of the most renowned artists, both in his country and internationally,
17:22his beginnings were not easy, facing resistance and difficulties along the way, mainly from
17:27his family.
17:28When I was a teenager, I wanted to be a painter.
17:33My father didn't want to, but that's life, because every father wants his son to succeed.
17:37You might think that painting is not present in our cultures, but African art has strength
17:41through sculptures, batik loincloths and many other things.
17:44Even so, the father who was a teacher wants his son to be a teacher like him, because
17:47in Africa, at that time, when you said you wanted to dedicate yourself to art, they said,
17:52you are a failure, and all that, but not in a bad way.
17:59After overcoming difficulties and following his path, Abudia transformed his teenage rebellion
18:05into an outstanding artistic expression.
18:08With a pictorial style called naïve, which includes works inspired by street children,
18:13the artist shows great affection and empathy for disadvantaged infants, while also urging
18:18the authorities to pay more attention to them.
18:23I could say that what makes my style recognizable is this naïve side, of being older and working
18:27like a child.
18:28I think that's what it is, it gives it a special touch.
18:31I have also worked with underprivileged children, street children, the N'uchi, and Ivorian slang,
18:35which is also spoken by street children.
18:40Today, this painter is among the best-selling artists at auctions worldwide, according to
18:46market analysis, as well as the contemporary artist who sold the most canvases in 2022.
18:52Moreover, important galleries in Paris, London, New York and Lagos are interested in his works,
18:58a very different reception from the one he received when he exhibited his first paintings
19:02in the Ivorian city of Abidjan in 2000.
