00:00Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the country agrees with the U.S. proposals
00:16for a ceasefire with Ukraine.
00:24The United Nations denounced Israel for the several forms of sexual and gender-based violence
00:29against the Palestinian people.
00:37The Argentine police repressed brutally on Wednesday senior referees and football fans
00:41who were rallying against President Mele's neoliberal policies.
00:47Hello, welcome to From the South, I'm Luis Alberto Matos from Etersu Studios in Caracas,
00:56Venezuela.
00:57And on Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the country agrees with the
01:13U.S. proposals for a ceasefire with Ukraine.
01:15However, the president assured this ceasefire must lead to a lasting peace and eliminate
01:19the root causes of the Ukrainian crisis.
01:22As we recall, U.S. negotiators are in Russia to present their plan for a 30-day ceasefire
01:27in Ukraine.
01:28In this context, Putin assured that any proposal has to be a long-term solution and that he
01:34needs to speak to U.S. President Donald Trump as he has a number of questions and concerns
01:38regarding this deal moving forward.
01:48We agree with proposals to end hostilities, but we believe that this cessation must be
01:59one that leads to long-term peace and addresses the root causes of this crisis.
02:07The Russian president also expressed his reservations regarding Kiev's compliance with the agreement
02:12in the event that it is achieved.
02:20If we halt the hostilities for 30 days, what will it mean?
02:24Will all those who are there in the Kursk region come out without a fight?
02:29Should we just let them out after all the crimes against civilians they committed?
02:34Or will the Ukrainian leadership order them to lay down arms and simply surrender?
02:39How will it work?
02:41It's not clear.
02:43In this regard, President Putin expressed his support for the idea of concluding the
02:51conflict with Ukraine through peaceful means.
03:00So the idea itself is correct, and we certainly support it.
03:04But there are issues that we need to discuss, and I think that we need to discuss it with
03:08our American colleagues and partners.
03:11Maybe call President Trump and discuss it together.
03:14Overall, we support the idea to end the conflict by peaceful means.
03:25Russian President Vladimir Putin received his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko,
03:30who arrived in Moscow on Thursday for an official visit.
03:33The Russian president described relations between Russia and Belarus as special relations
03:37of cooperation and brotherhood, recalling the historical ties that united the two nations.
03:42Lukashenko, for his part, stressed the very high level of bilateral relations, and read
03:46that together with Russia, they form a unique entity in the form of the State of Union.
03:51It is planned that the heads of state discuss key issues for the further development of
03:55the binational strategic partnership and alliances.
04:19The United Nations denounced Israel for the several forms of sexual and gender-based violence
04:24against the Palestinian people.
04:26The report reveals the increase in different forms of abuses by the Israeli forces in which
04:30the females are the majority of victims.
04:33The document accuses the Labeouf regime of turning this type of violence into a strategy
04:37of domination and elimination of the Palestinian people that violates their right to self-determination
04:42of the peoples.
04:43In this regard, the multilateral organization urges the international community to participate
04:48in the ongoing investigations.
04:55This morning, we published a report titled More Than a Human Can Bear, dealing with Israel's
05:01systematic use of sexual, reproductive, and other forms of gender-based violence since
05:067 October 2023.
05:09Our report finds that Israel has increasingly employed sexual, reproductive, and other forms
05:15of gender-based violence against Palestinians as part of a broader effort to undermine their
05:21right to self-determination.
05:23It also concludes that Israel has carried out genocidal acts through the systematic
05:28destruction of sexual and reproductive health care facilities.
05:34Unreleased Palestinians announced the severe tortures they had gone through while they
05:38had been kept in Israeli prisons.
05:41On a joint communique, the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian
05:45Prisoners Club unfolded testimonies of the released Palestinians as evidence that Israeli
05:50authorities tortured them under time in prisons.
05:53Both entities specifically denounced that in the Negev Israeli prison, inmates have
05:57been suffering from starvation due to the fact that they used this to receive little
06:02food.
06:03In addition, they rejected the policy of humiliation prison authorities have upheld against Palestinians.
06:10Several sworn statements confirm Israeli officers used to keeping detainees seated and handcuffed
06:16to iron beds most of the time as a way of breaking them psychologically.
06:23And on Wednesday, the UN Special Rapporteur Michael Faki warned that the Zionist regime
06:33of Israel is carrying out an unprecedented famine campaign in the Gaza Strip.
06:39During a press conference in the city of Geneva, Switzerland, the rapporteur explained that
06:43by restricting access to humanitarian aid in the Palestinian enclave, Benjamin Netanyahu's
06:47government has carried out the fastest campaign in modern history.
06:53And the Egyptian government in its capacity as mediator between Hamas and Israel is advocating
07:05a plan that will lead the Palestinians to peace and real justice for the sake of stability
07:10in the region.
07:11Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has ratified the establishment of a Palestinian
07:15state as the only solution to the displacement of Palestinians in their territory due to
07:19the Israeli genocide and occupation.
07:22It was recalled that the Egyptian leader resented to the Arab League an initiative to rebuild
07:27Gaza within five years at an estimated cost of $53 billion without a need to displace
07:32its people.
07:33The plan will be developed in three phases, emergency aid, shelter, and reconstruction
07:39under international supervision with funds provided by the international community.

08:17The Vatican press office reported that pro-fascists spent a peaceful night after
08:21having confirmed his health condition is on demand on the 12th anniversary of his pontificate.
08:27The Holy See detailed no further initiative to celebrate the commemoration, even though
08:31De Gea's X-ray performed on Pope Francis corroborated his health improvement.
08:36Almost a month earlier, the Pope had been admitted into Gemelli Hospital in Rome due
08:40to his bilateral pneumonia alongside other collateral respiratory issues.
08:44After having overcome several crises, Francis' health condition is no longer in a reserved
08:49prognosis.
08:50Currently, his physicians reveal he is out of immediate danger.
09:03In the United States, protesters gathered at Trump Tower in New York City to demand
09:07the release of Columbia University student and Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil, who
09:13was arbitrarily arrested and remains in immigration custody.
09:16Khalil, who was a lead organizer of activities to denounce Israel's genocidal operations
09:21on Palestine at the university, was detained by ICE on Saturday.
09:26The demonstrations to demand his release, which were organized by a progressive Jewish
09:30group, occupied the Trump Tower chanting slogans such as, Bring Mahmoud Home Now.
09:35Amid Trump administration attacks on universities over pro-Palestinian protests, observers say
09:40Khalil is being used as a test case for mass arrests, while Trump has expressed his arrest
09:46is the first of many to come amid threats to deport students.
10:10The United States and Venezuela agreed to resume migrant repatriation flights starting
10:31this Friday, March 14.
10:33Washington Special Envoy Richard Grenell announced the agreement through his social media acts.
10:38Previously, the president of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, said that the sanctions against the
10:42oil company Chevron affected the new channel of communication with the U.S. authorities
10:47and the repatriation flights of migrants.
10:49In addition, the Venezuelan government reaffirmed that most of the returnees are people who
10:55migrated in search of economic horizons and just a few of them have criminal records.
11:09In this regard, the Venezuelan government informed through a communiqué that, within
11:12the framework of the Return to the Homeland Plan, it has reached an agreement with Special
11:17Envoy Grenell to repatriate Venezuelan brothers and sisters who are in the United States.
11:24The statement follows the Bolivarian government of Venezuela, thus protects the human rights
11:29of our migrant compatriots and defends and safeguards the reunification of families that
11:33have been victims of the serious consequences that the criminal sanctions against Venezuela
11:39and its economy produce in its people and that promote the departure of hardworking
11:45and dignified people to other destinations in search of other alternatives.
12:03The Mexican government announced on Thursday that it will conduct a consultation with the
12:14sectors affected by the tariff systems imposed by the United States.

12:22In a morning conference from the National Palace, the official pointed out that Mexico
12:26has done better than other countries due to his country's integration with the United
12:31States.
12:32The high official also assured that the nation will face, according to its interests, the
12:35decisions that Washington may take.
12:43In short, we are going to make the necessary consultations and we are going to prepare
12:48ourselves to move all the tools we have according to what is convenient for Mexico.
12:54The President of Mexico reiterated that she is awaiting official announcements from the
12:59U.S. government to take measures to benefit and defend the nation's interests.
13:05So let's wait for the announcement on April 2nd and from there take our decisions.
13:10There is no point in announcing today one and then another, but really from the package
13:15that the United States presents, take our decisions to protect and develop Mexico's

14:06In the meantime, police repressed brutally on Wednesday senior directories and football
14:09fans who were rallying against President Mele's neoliberal policies.
14:13The Mele administration, namely Security Minister Patricia Bulgrich, had ordered officers to
14:18exert repression since early afternoon on Wednesday to scatter picketers crowded in
14:23front of Congress Square.
14:25In the protests, demonstrators, including senior citizens, were expressing peacefully
14:29their rejection to the Belt and Road Governmental Measures by the time federal corps attacked
14:34them with pepper sprays, tear gas, rubber bullets and water cannons.
14:38As a result, about 20 civilians were injured.

15:13to have a more diversified economy, thanks to the efforts and resilience of its people.
15:18For the more, President Maduro condemned sanctions that are trying to cripple the nation, pointing
15:22out that imperialism has failed in its attempt to take over Venezuela.

16:18Former Peruvian President Pedro Castillo was hospitalized in Lima due to a health decompensation,

16:27Pedro Castillo's health decompensated in the Barbadillo Prison after he went on a hunger
16:31strike in rejection of the oral trial on the failed coup d'etat on December 7, 2022.
16:36Castillo's public defender asked for the hearing to be suspended, however, the representatives
16:41of the prosecutor's office replied and indicated that since the defendant's legal representative
16:45was present, the session could continue.
16:48After a brief debate, Supreme Judge Norbacar Bajal said that the trial would not be suspended
16:52because it was a provoked unilateral act.
16:57And the General Confederation of Workers of Peru called its affiliates for a national
17:07mobilization on Thursday in rejection of the labor reform promoted by the government.
17:11The protest seeks to demand the withdrawal of the so-called Early Agenda 2025, promoted
17:16by the Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion.
17:19According to unionists, this regulation seeks to eliminate essential labor rights such as
17:23compensation for time of service and bonuses, which would affect millions of workers.
17:28The movement denounced the proposal is detrimental to labor rights and urged the working class
17:34to prevent, with unity and struggle, the development of enactment of this agenda.
17:50And for the third consecutive day, Chilean health workers mobilized to denounce the lack
17:54of labor guarantees by the government of Gabriel Boric.

18:52of 31 parliamentary seats in dispute, the People's United Party won 26, while the opposing
18:58United Democratic Party only won 5, giving a resounding victory to the ruling party.
