00:30following the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte.
00:34In a radio interview with Radyo Pilipinas, the economist said that Professor Emanuel Layco,
00:39the family of OFWs in the Philippines, will be affected by the remittance ban.
00:44Layco explained that this is not a huge amount of funds, but the needs of their families.
00:49And if he will send OFWs after a week, there will be no effect.
00:55If the effect that wants to happen is that the government will be affected,
01:02the government will not be affected because our reserves are hundreds of billions.
01:08So it will not be successful if that is the plan.
01:12The economist also hopes that the Monetary Board of the Central Bank of the Philippines
01:18will lower the interest rate of the banks following the continuous lowering of the inflation rate.
01:23Professor Layco also insisted that the public should not be worried about the value of our money
01:29because the financial system of the Philippines is stable.
