Brian McCormack, Nutrien SGL auctioneer, Leongatha discusses the Koonwarra Victorian Livestock Exchange store cattle market with Andrew Miller.
Transcript
00:00The market today was probably a little bit flatter but still sold quite well.
00:08Very strong feeder competition. In our steer run I would say 80% were bought by three buyers
00:16and we had a very good run on steers and yearling off cattle but there's three feedlot
00:21back rounding boats that were bought 80% of the cattle. So it would be Campbell, JBS and Mark Wyre.
00:30So price wise seems to be sort of marking time a little bit at the moment?
00:34Yeah it's just we can get a bit more rain locally. We have a bit more competition from
00:38local boats which would then put a floor in a market and just kick it back up again a little
00:43bit more but at the moment we're just reliant on what the feeder boats are doing with a little bit
00:48of grazing competition within. Why is the feedlots are filling up again now do you think?
00:52Well no I think you'll find that they'll be they'll be moving cattle out of them as well
00:56like so they what they take out they want to replace and that's that's how they're going to
01:00work their game so if they're selling cattle out of there the cattle are right to go we'll
01:04have time to put cattle back in as well.
