Before March ends, drought-stricken parts of Texas could experience significant rain. AccuWeather's Geoff Cornish has the details.

00:00most of us will stay dry and we're going to be hot on Tuesday. The Permian
00:04Basin, Midland, Odessa, Snyder, Texas, heating up out there in a big way and
00:08not as toasty up into the Ozark Plateau. But it is warm, if not hot. We're on 90
00:13degrees on Tuesday into Dallas and we begin to back off just a little bit
00:17with that heat into some scattered showers there on Wednesday. But the
00:21bigger story becomes what's going on into the Rio Grande. Look at this. This
00:25flow out of the gulf is going to drive some moisture in and actual rain will
00:29begin to break out into El Paso and Del Rio and other areas there in the even
00:34the lower Rio Grande Valley. We'll see some beneficial rain. So Harlingen,
00:38McAllen, Brownsville, West Lico into it on Wednesday night, Thursday and Friday.
00:42Rounds of rain west of San Antonio, the Hill Country back into this too. Now we
00:46will probably face some localized downpours that will lead to flash
00:49flooding. So it's a concern. But overall, I think this is gonna be more of a
00:53positive here with the fire risk decreasing and we've been dealing with
00:57drought here. So this is gonna put a not an end to it, but at least a big dent
01:01in the drought. And if we can string together maybe three or four more of
01:04these events over the course of the next month or two, we'll begin to find more
01:07success. So Thursday, wet weather here in south and west Texas and looking at
01:11the highs here on Thursday, we begin to back off from 90 on Tuesday in Dallas
01:16to 78 Thursday showers and storms, low seventies into Odessa, Lubbock,
01:21scattered thunderstorms, San Antonio, Corpus Christi, Houston showers and
01:24thunderstorms for you as well. Then another big storyline that we begin to
01:27focus on for the weekend will become a bit of moisture surging out of the Gulf
01:32still and then this eastbound storm system. And this is gonna scare up some
01:36scattered thunderstorms that become strong to severe in parts of the
01:39Mississippi Valley. So we gotta keep an eye out for that. And it's a stormy set
01:43up here in the southern Plains for the weekend and into the Ohio Valley.
