00:00For anybody out there who thinks maybe behind closed doors Donald Trump is a good negotiator.
00:05Maybe him bumbling around in public is just the media coloring what he does and in reality
00:09he knows what he's doing and he has the upper hand.
00:12For those people, listen to this clip from Trump's Middle East envoy Steve Whitkoff during
00:16his interview with Tucker Carlson to see just how easy it is to dupe Donald Trump.
00:22In the second visit that I had, you know, it got personal.
00:26The president, President Putin, had commissioned a beautiful portrait of President Trump from
00:33the leading Russian artist and actually gave it to me and asked me to take it home to President
00:37Trump which I brought home and delivered to him.
00:40It's been reported in the paper but it was such a gracious moment and told me a story,
00:46Tucker, about how when the president was shot he went to his local church and met with his
00:53priest and prayed for the president.
00:55Not because he was the president of the United, he could become the president of the United
00:59States but because he had a friendship with him and he was praying for his friend.
01:04It was, I mean, can you imagine sitting there and listening to these kind of conversations
01:07and I came home and delivered that message to our president and delivered the painting
01:14and he was clearly touched by it.
01:18So this is the kind of connection that we've been able to reestablish through, by the way,
01:23a simple word called communication.
01:26So I just want to be clear.
01:28Vladimir Putin commissions a portrait of Donald Trump's favorite thing, Trump's own face,
01:33and asks Whitkoff to bring it to Trump and that's why, in part, this administration loves
01:39the Kremlin?
01:40I mean, I'm sorry but I would have a more difficult time fooling a nine-year-old than
01:44Putin has pulling the wool over Donald Trump's eyes.
01:47All this guy had to do was give Trump a portrait of himself?
01:50That's what it took to win over the art-of-the-deal guy?
01:53These are America's negotiators?
01:54Guys, I'm sorry, but if these are the people negotiating against Putin and Xi and Erdogan
02:00and Kim Jong-un, we're fucked.
02:03But the reality is that the world's autocrats understand how easy it is to win over Trump.
02:08They understand that he is a narcissist and that all they have to do is offer some shallow
02:13flattery and he melts like putty in their hands.
02:17When you hear about love letters between Kim Jong-un and Trump, when you hear about
02:20this special relationship between Putin and Trump, when you hear about how China's President
02:25Xi is right out of central casting, the reason that Donald Trump defends these people is
02:30because they are nice to him.
02:32Not because they care about him, not because they care about America, but because they
02:35know how easy it is to win him over so that they can get what they need for their own
02:40countries.
02:41Again, this isn't out of love for the United States, it's out of love for their own countries.
02:46Trump being too narcissistic to see beyond his own shadow is not to our advantage, it's
02:50to theirs.
02:51It is why Putin now faces the most weakened NATO in history.
02:55It's why Xi now has the easiest path to overtake Taiwan if he wants it.
02:59It's why North Korea has the most leeway to ramp up their nuclear capabilities.
03:03Because they own Trump.
03:05They give him little pets and in turn, Trump lets them do what they want.
03:09It couldn't be more obvious that they were gaming our president if they literally came
03:13out and said it.
03:14And ironically enough, the only person not in on it is the guy who takes credit for writing
03:19the book, The Art of the Deal.
03:21In fact, the leaders who have enough self-respect not to grovel to Donald Trump are the ones
03:25that he despises most.
03:27That's why we saw this horrific display in the Oval Office.
03:29In 2019, I signed with him the deal.
03:33I signed with him, Macron and Merkel.
03:36We signed ceasefire, ceasefire.
03:39All of them told me that he will never go.
03:43We signed him with gas contract, gas contract, yes.
03:47But after that, he broken the ceasefire.
03:50What kind of diplomacy, J.D., you are speaking about?
03:54I'm talking about the kind of diplomacy that's going to end the destruction of your country.
03:57Mr. President, Mr. President, with respect, I think it's disrespectful for you to come
04:01into the Oval Office and try to litigate this in front of the American media.
04:05Let's start from the beginning.
04:06Sure.
04:07First of all, during the war, everybody has problems, even you.
04:11But you have nice ocean and don't feel now, but you will feel it in the future.
04:17Don't tell us what we're going to feel.
04:18We're trying to solve a problem.
04:20Don't tell us what we're going to feel.
04:21I'm not telling you.
04:22Because you're in no position to dictate that.
04:24Remember this.
04:25You're in no position to dictate what we're going to feel.
04:30In other words, because Zelensky wasn't willing to sacrifice his dignity to show fealty to
04:34Trump the way these autocrats do, the way they're smart enough to understand how to
04:38do, Trump attacks.
04:40I asked Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Vindman why Zelensky didn't just do the thing that
04:44the world's autocrats understand that they should do by cozying up to our thin-skinned
04:48president.
04:49Here's what he had to say.
04:50There is a school of thought that given the extent to which other world leaders kind of
04:54know how to manipulate Trump, that all you have to do is kill him with kindness, that
04:57you have to stroke his ego, that's how he operates, that folks are saying, well, why
05:01not just just go in, say what you need to say to Trump, bring some, bring some, create
05:06some medal, some civilian honor, the first ever from Ukraine and heap it onto Donald
05:13Trump as some big prestigious thing and just kind of like win him over, win him over that
05:19way.
05:20Why do you think that knowing how he operates, that that tack wasn't taken, that it was important
05:25to stand his ground, stand on business and defend objective reality about this war, about
05:31Russia and so on?
05:32That is an awesome question.
05:34Usually what it comes down to is recent history, not the deep history of all the mistakes that
05:38we've made along the way.
05:39I mean, remember the subtitle is how the West deceives, deceived itself about Russia and
05:45betrayed Ukraine.
05:46We continue to do that.
05:48But within just the recent history, within the Trump administration in its five weeks,
05:52it seems like five years, what we have is Trump saying that Putin is not a dictator,
06:00that Putin wants peace earnestly, saying that Zelensky is the dictator, saying that
06:07Ukraine caused the war.
06:09And then the beginning of this, this last week on Monday, in one of the most disgusting
06:13only to be surmounted on Friday by that Oval Office spectacle, what happened on Monday
06:19was a vote in the United Nations in which the U.S. sided with Russia, sided with North
06:24Korea against our allies and refused to condemn Russia as an aggressor.
06:29Now, some people might say, well, you know, Trump is trying the same technique that works
06:34with him, that he wants to flatter Putin into, you know, into getting a deal.
06:40That is not going to happen.
06:42Putin is a master manipulator.
06:43He's a KGB case officer.
06:45He knows that he could pull this with Trump and get what he wants.
06:49But Putin is not going to compromise and give up things that are important to him.
06:54What's important to him is subduing Ukraine, folding Ukraine back into Russia because he
06:59has this empire building project.
07:01So for Zelensky to go in there and let slide on the heels of showing him pictures of soldiers,
07:07his POWs being abused, of talking about 20,000 children being kidnapped and brainwashed that
07:14are now in Russia, to allow that to slide is not just the typical flattery that, you
07:19know, other folks do.
07:21That would be weakness.
07:22That would be weakness to his own people that are fighting, his own troops on the front
07:26line that need to see a firm, resolved, courageous leader.
07:31That would be weakness to Putin that would inspire the belief that Russia could win this
07:37war.
07:38And this wasn't just about the Oval Office, about the president.
07:41This was the whole world watching and, frankly, seeing a nightmare situation unfold.
07:46And Zelensky, you know, some people might criticize him for not flattering, getting
07:49the deal.
07:50The deal was important, but it wasn't that important.
07:53Because the trend line was that Putin or that Trump was going to cater to Putin and
07:59that he was going to go back and take this and say, look, see, I could get the Ukrainians
08:04to compromise without getting the Russians to compromise.
08:07So it was it was not the right answer.
08:09The right answer was Zelensky holding his ground.
08:12And frankly, in somehow having both Trump and Vance look like bullies and weak at the
08:18same time.
08:19But the point worth conveying here is this.
08:21Donald Trump is a weak man's idea of a strong man.
08:24He is not a good negotiator.
08:25He's a terrible one.
08:27He's why our economy is in the toilet right now, because he launched a dumbass trade war
08:31that he thought he'd win only to watch other countries fight back and embroil us in this
08:35economic catastrophe.
08:37And if getting made into a fool by our allies wasn't bad enough, what's worse is the
08:41way in which he's getting rolled by our enemies.
08:44Russia's scored the useful idiot of the century in Donald Trump.
08:47And moments like these, between Steve Whitkoff and Tucker Carlson, only serve to make that
08:52even clearer than it's already been.

09:03The subscribe button will be right here on the screen.
09:05But second, the reality is that we're now in a political environment where this administration
09:09can lean on any of the social media platforms to suppress certain voices if they don't
09:13like critical coverage.
09:15That means my longevity here is in the hands of a few tech billionaires who are already
09:19making it clear that they're willing to cater to this White House.
09:22To that end, signing up for my newsletter is a great way for me to be able to reach
