00:14Anne Chukinhoy-Pamituan is a world-class jewelry and furniture designer from Davao whose designs
00:20have gained international acclaim.
00:22Among these include the iconic cocoon chair which won the Good Design Award in Japan.
00:27Her furnitures are popular for their whimsical and otherworldly styles.
00:30She is also known for her electroplated fashion accessories and public art sculptures.
00:36For Pamituan, she gets her design inspirations from her natural environment in Davao.
00:41We started with jewelry.
00:44The jewelry was about, it's not the usual metal jewelry, but they're all, they all come
00:52from my garden, mga bulaklak, namitas lang ako, and then it went through a process of
00:59electroplating.
01:00Pamituan's cocoon chair opened the doors for them.
01:03She was the first Filipino and Asian designer featured in the International Design Yearbook
01:07in 2002.
01:08The cocoon chair, this was our first furniture piece, no?
01:14And then in the show, um, it got recognition.

01:24Up to now, kilala siya.
01:26Pamituan is part of the Movement 8 Design Alliance, a group of the country's top designers.
01:31Going back to her Davao roots, she founded the Mindanao Trade Expo to provide a platform
01:36for Mindanao artisans to showcase their products.
01:39Pamituan was recently named as a Datu Bagu Awardee, Davao City's highest award for
01:44exemplary Davaoños.
